Hey there word maestro!
We’ve sprinkled some magic on our crossword kingdom with this fresh update. We’ve squashed pesky bugs, guaranteeing a crossword adventure smoother than butter on a hot pan.
Get ready to dive into a world of words without a glitch in sight!
Crossword Explorer is a masterclass in modernizing a classic pastime. It cleverly bridges the gap between the intimidating 'Sunday Times' crosswords and the overly simplistic word games found elsewhere. The difficulty curve is its strongest asset; you start with 'Easy' puzzles that build confidence and gradually move toward 'Genius' levels that require deep lateral thinking and broad general knowledge.
The presentation is sleek and distraction-free, focusing entirely on the grid. I was particularly impressed by the 'Hints' system, which doesn't just give you the answer but can reveal a single letter or clear out incorrect inputs, allowing you to still feel like you solved it yourself. With over 10,000 puzzles across varied themes like movies, history, and pop culture, it’s a robust package that respects the player's intelligence. It’s the definitive crossword app for the smartphone era.
More than 10,000 unique puzzles
Dynamic difficulty: Easy to Genius
Daily challenges and streak tracking
Comprehensive hint and error-correction tools
The Daily Journey presents three puzzles of increasing difficulty. Complete all three within 24 hours to maintain your streak and earn 'Coins' used for free hints in harder sections.
If you are a specialist, head to the 'Category' section to solve grids entirely dedicated to specific subjects like 'The 90s' or 'Science Fiction'.
Coins are earned by completing puzzles and can be spent on hints to reveal letters or entire words when you get stuck.
This game is great. Very relaxing and non threatening. Somewhat challenging but good workout for the ol’ noodle. Now let’s get to the heart of my review. The side game of word association is where it’s at. That little spin off game is so addicting. I can’t stop playing! Developers take note, that side game is a hit! Develop that into its own and you have a winner for sure. Call it Word Frenzy, take it, I won’t care if you use the name. It is the perfect word game. It’s so compelling and a good brain workout too. Just make more challenges, more rewards, and more competition with users. It’s a sure fire hit! I don’t even want to play the crossword puzzle game I originally downloaded it for.
I get anxious playing this game! Why? It is because while I am in the middle of a crossword, I’ll suddenly get a pop-up telling me that I’ve been entered into a Rocket Rush race tournament. There’s no way to decline participation in it and I’m upset that it forces me to play if I continue to try to finish the puzzle. Even if you exit out the pop-up, you are still entered into the race. What’s annoying too is that they sometimes give you more than 25 puzzles in order to complete the race. Who has that kind of time, especially when you have other demands or need to get to bed? These Rocket Rush races even pop up during the daily puzzle or while you’re trying to complete the daily challenge of completing four puzzles. The developers should change when these races pop up. They should NOT pop up during the daily puzzle or while you are trying to complete the daily challenge of four puzzles. It would be better to pop up after these have been completed. Also, there should be a way to decline participation in the race, as well as having a reasonable number of puzzles to complete during the race (10 or less is reasonable, NOT more than 25)! Because I don’t want to be a part of the race, I often just exit the game without even completing the puzzle, and I don’t come back until I know the race is over. Very frustrating!
I have enjoyed this crossword very much. Played it a lot. The ads weren’t obtrusive and came at the end of every puzzle. It was challenging enough to make it fun yet not so hard as to not be able to finish. Recently, however an ad, I think it’s an ad, pops up every time in the middle of working on a Crossword. It goes to a website and says it’s scanning my devices. I stop everything delete it, close down my iPad. Whether it’s actually scanning my device or at just trying to sell me something that does?? but it appears to actually be scanning my devices, with rolling numbers. I do not like that and I’m debating deleting the app as much as I like it. If it’s an ad separate from, the actual game this ad must be deleted, by the app. No one wants their device scanned without permission.. it can be dangerous.
This is an update….speaking of update….I have run out of puzzles and you said about three weeks ago more are coming. WHEN? The reason I am anxious is that I am 83 years old and I have found that they have helped me immensely with my short term memory. I don’t know why, but they have. Once again, I love this app. Thanks for listening. Great app! However, some of your ads are too long. After ten seconds, I know if I want the app or not. Thirty seconds is way too long. When I have to be bored with an ad, I stop playing. Ads should entertain not be repetitive and insulting. Thanks for the great app…..
It’s fun but way too many adds. Some games it’s before the next game and right after the finished game. It flashes to the adds so quickly I can’t even see my score so it’s quite irritating to me. Some games, you spend more time watching adds than you do playing-that’s a fact. They need to stop with the ridiculous amount of adds, some adds like the google lasts a couple minutes! Fun games but do they even realize how much time is wasted being forced to watch adds? I get frustrated and just stop playing. Also they should limit the adds to 15 seconds max. Some adds you can’t even close. Some adds are scams. Ugh.
Really enjoying this game, challenging puzzles. The however is ads popping up in the game at random moments. Especially Norton anti virus, I don’t even have this installed and ads popping up 3 or 4 times in the middle of a game wanting me to update. If this isn’t fixed soon I’ll delete your game. Updating my review for last time…don’t you review the ads before allowing them on your game? Even more ads now popping up in the middle of a game. I can live with an ad before and after COMPLETING a puzzle NOT during a game. Time to try another crossword game. I understand the importance of ads for your pockets but don’t be so greedy that you ruin a fun experience.
I’ve been playing this game for about a month, and I love it. The boards are fun and it is a good way to pass some time while engaging the mind. The primary issue I have is the ad that pops up and plays sound I’m while playing the board. It’s one thing to have the ads running at the top of the board, and after finishing the board, it is another thing to have other pop up ads with sound. It happens a couple times on the board. It is starting to get annoying.
The ad very plainly advertised 80’s trivia knowledge crossword game, and that’s what I expected, but that’s not what I got. It’s just another ad filled grid game where you’re filling in letters in random categories. Searched all over the menu and everywhere else and never could find any section with “categories”, not even to pay for. The game is super easy, lost interest after about 50 puzzles hoping to “unlock” categories or something. It’s not much of a crossword style game as it is a 6x6 grid with words and super easy clues. Absolutely nothing like the ad. The constant flow of ads are annoying but I’ve seen worse. These ads are just a hair above tolerable but the game itself is not what was advertised.
