Conjury is a brilliant, neon-soaked roguelike deckbuilder that manages to carve out its own identity in a genre dominated by Slay the Spire. The core hook here is the 'Elemental Synthesis'—you don't just play cards; you combine them. Playing a 'Flash' card on a 'Drenched' enemy doesn't just do damage; it triggers a chain-lightning effect that can clear the entire board. It makes every hand feel like a laboratory experiment.
The art style is fantastic, utilizing high-contrast vector graphics that make the spell effects pop off the screen. I also really appreciated the 'Quick Cast' mode, which speeds up animations for veterans who want to blast through a run in under 15 minutes. It’s incredibly polished, with deep meta-progression that unlocks new wizards and starting artifacts. If you’re looking for a strategy game that rewards creativity and synergistic thinking, Conjury is an absolute must-play.
Deep Elemental Synthesis card system
Procedurally generated dungeons and encounters
Over 200 spells and 50 unique artifacts
Stunning high-contrast visual style
Unlockable character classes with distinct playstyles
Pay attention to the 'Priming' effect. Many cards don't do much damage on their own but 'Prime' an enemy with an element. Always try to follow up a 'Primed' status with the opposite element to trigger a 'Reaction Burst' for triple damage.
Between battles, you'll choose your path. Prioritize 'Library' nodes early in a run to build a consistent spell deck. Save your gold for 'Shrine' nodes where you can remove weaker cards to ensure your high-power Synthesis combos appear more frequently.
While you start each run with a basic deck, you earn 'Mana Crystals' that permanently upgrade your mages' stats and unlock new cards for future runs.
I love this game. There are so many different possibilities for builds and synergies, making each run feel unique and dynamic. The accessibility is on point, and I haven’t encountered any issues with my screen reader while playing this. The only problem I have is that you still get the same amount of gems no matter what difficulty you play, so it feels like there’s no real incentive to play at a higher difficulty level. Also, from completing a run, no matter what difficulty you play at, you only get six gems. With each character taking more and more gems to unlock, it just feels like I have to keep playing over and over and over again to the point where it starts to get old. as I said before, the game is dynamic and randomized enough so that I don’t mind playing repeating runs too much, but I wish there was some sort of reward for harder difficulties.
This almost unknown gem is a fantastic little deck builder roguelite. It is both simple and deep. It gives you builds right from the go, and allows you to learn their strengths and weaknesses. In my mind it’s the Downwell of deck builder roguelites. In large part this is because of the art style (which is very similar), but also in terms of the amount of content. To be fair Conjury has quite a bit more of the latter than Downwell, but in deck builder terms it’s quite light. Even so, that is only a criticism insomuch as this game is amazing and having more characters, cards, and items would (theoretically) be amazing. Having said that, I think this game works because of, not in spite of, its scope. If you’re a fan of Slay the Spite and/or Balatro do yourself a favor and play this game. 5 stars on Apple, 10/10 in my heart.
I've only played the game for a little while, but I really like it. There are two major things that could be immpruved though: 1. There should be a better tutorial. When I started a new game, it didn't show a tutorial of any kind until I tried ending my turn when I still had mana, before that it just did a little intro dialogue before plopping me onto the map without a word. 2. The voiceover support needs work. I don't know how much can be done about this given the game's using the unity accessibility plugin, but the voiceover curser gets stuck on elements, mainly the card hand or rather a single card in the hand and won't let you move it for a bit. One time I think it also got stuck on my coin balance or something similar, to the point where I had to restart the app to fix it. You have a really cool game here, and I hope these issues can be resolved.
This is a well polished roguelike for mobile. The interface works great for mobile and can be played single handed. The characters all offer different advantages to different strategies and force you to play/think a little different for each one. Most of the cards seem like they can be picked and used in some given build/run. It plays fast but not too fast. The learning curve isn’t too steep to push people away but has been keeping me engaged consistently by learning more and more. Lots of fun synergies between cards. Already well worth the money I paid for the game and excited to see where the dev goes with it. They seem pretty passionate which is always a good sign.
I killed the area 4 (gold key) boss with the final character, and the game just froze instead of taking me to the results screen. After restarting the app and hitting “continue” at the main menu, I’m brought to the area 4 map screen but with the boss node “X’ed” out. Perhaps don’t allow upgrading the same weapon multiple times at a one shrine, because it seems more effective to just stack upgrades on one really powerful item and ignore all other gear for the whole run. This is a really good game, though.
This is an amazing start to a hopefully continually expanding game. I love the concept and the balancing is impressive for and indie development. I’ll keep playing this even though I technically beat the game. With a couple good runs, you can “beat” the game somewhat quickly, but it’s the fun variety that brings me back! To the developer, please keep expanding on this game! Clearly the developer has major talent and creativity. I’ve recommended this to my friends, and will keep recommending it if it continues to expand. Seriously a good game.
I've not even scratched thesurface of this game, I suspect, and I'm already hooked! Spent half an hour playing this incredibly accessible roguelike, and I do not regret it! (Nor did I notice until the time had passed.) If you like Slay The Spire, this game is actually perfect! I look forward to seeing what else can be done in the game! Thank you for the great game!
This is a legitimately good card game with a lot of build variety, characters to choose from, and items to utilize. I do think the balance of certain characters and cards needs work, like the Blade Caster character and status effect cards, but for $2 this is a very complete package that offers hours of enjoyment. The dev is constantly adding new content and fixing bugs, so I’m very excited to see what they add next.
