Thanks for playing Chess Deluxe! This update includes:
- Updates for Liquid Glass
- Improved performance and stability
- Bug fixes
Chess Deluxe is a solid, professional-grade chess engine that focuses on a clean, premium visual experience. In a store full of cluttered chess apps, this one stands out for its 'Deluxe' aesthetic—the boards and pieces are beautifully rendered, and the UI feels like a high-end luxury app.
The AI is competent and offers a wide range of difficulty levels, making it suitable for everyone from beginners learning the ropes to seasoned club players looking for a quick match. What I appreciate most is the 'Undo' and 'Hint' system which is integrated subtly, allowing you to learn from your mistakes without feeling like the game is playing itself. It’s a dependable, high-quality chess companion for your pocket.
10 AI difficulty levels
Stunning 3D piece designs
Unlimited undo and hints
Local two-player mode
If you lose a match, go back through the move history to see exactly where the engine gained the upper hand. You can restart the game from any previous turn.
Set the AI to 'Auto' and it will adjust its playing strength based on your win/loss ratio, ensuring every match is a fair and exciting challenge.
Yes, Chess Deluxe follows all official FIDE rules including castling, en passant, and pawn promotion.
I was frustrated by how 'easy' wasn't easy for me . . . though apparently too easy for other users. Ah, well . . . anyway, I also felt that the hints weren't helping much . . . so I vowed to give it one more try. You must have been reading my mail, as they used to say. I asked for a hint at just the right time, got mate, and was able to see how it was done . . . what I'd have missed, probably, on my own. So, okay . . . on we go.
This is a good basic version of a chess app. However there are a few things that could be improved upon. I would definitely give it a 5 if some of these things were fixed. - make it so we can see the “g” on the g column. The lower part of the g is cut off and it looks like an a. - I play using the letters and numbers of the board so having those situated in a way where they would be visible even with pieces on the square would be immensely helpful. (Maybe put them outside of the board?) -I purchased this version of the game for my Mac for $2.99 expecting that I could switch from my iPhone and Mac and keep playing the same game but that is not the case. (Unless I have missed some cross compatibility sign-in somewhere). It’s not a big deal but it would be a nice feature for a paid app on Mac. Overall it’s a good basic chess app if you just want to play by yourself or with a friend.
Very nice and simple to use and no annoying bells and whistles. Thanks
Rediscovering the chess of my youth when i can get away with it on my computer. Good stuff.
The computer vs one player is very weak regardless of setting. This app is okay for two player games but is of no value vs computer. It gives up the queen readily.
Other than that, it's fine! Game does not have chess rules implemented correctly. One-player mode calls stalemate whenever computer king cannot move, even when other legal moves exist. Computer castles even after king has moved from original position - illegal. This is apart from the absolutely ridiculous gameplay in which the computer simply throws pieces out to be taken. Can't get Internet mode (what I bought it for) to work. IOS version doesn't allow searching for user IDs. OS X version (yes, I bought both like an idiot) allows searching, but it doesn't work - can't find my friend who is logged in and sitting across the room watching.
Fun Chess app. Easy setup,,,fast play,,progressive levels of difficulty. Has all a casual player could want. Inexpensive for hours of entertainment.
I just played my first game of chess on this app and played against a computer just to try it out. I tried to castle my king and rook and it would not let me. If there is no fix for this than this is a terrible app and should be fixed immediately.
