A Game About Digging a Hole is far more profound than its self-deprecating title suggests. It’s a meditative simulation that captures the rhythmic, almost prehistoric satisfaction of excavating the earth. What starts as a simple tapping game slowly evolves into a geological odyssey. The sound of the shovel hitting different materials—the crunch of gravel, the wet slap of clay, the metallic ring of bedrock—is incredibly satisfying.
The progression is expertly handled. The 'secrets' you find are genuinely intriguing, ranging from fossils to strange, buried technology that hints at a deeper world. It’s an idle game at its heart, but the active digging provides enough tactile engagement to keep you present. It’s the perfect 'zen' game; there’s no way to lose, just the constant, downward progress toward a mysterious goal. It’s strangely haunting and deeply peaceful all at once.

Focus on upgrading your shovel strength first. Tougher clay layers appear at 50 meters, and without the proper tool tier, progress will slow significantly.
Players drag or tap to remove earth. Random treasure drops provide currency to buy faster machinery and automated digging drones.
There is a definitive bedrock layer that concludes the story portion of the game.
Nice concept. I do have a few suggestions. Instead of just finding ore, there should be random objects like silverware, jewelry, cans, etc…..stuff you might normally find digging around. Also, more upgrades please. I think it would be cool if you could use your cash to make upgrades to the house as well. Having an elevator to purchase would be nice. Overall good game and has potential!
First of all, the digging tool is really hard to use. Second, I wish it has more guidance, I mean at the end I find out where to dig and where to sell etc. but I wish has more guidance. The third, you should really really really improve some details. For example, I wish you make the game less dizzy. I mean seriously, I’m ok with many 3d games, but this one only takes me like five mins, I’m dizzy to close to vomit. And it last for hours. The other thing is the selling and upgrade tools room is waaaaaaaay more far away than necessary. It’s annoying, and increase the dizziness. I sort of can get you are making it harder by not using it in the button, but there’s no point to make it this far away.
Some things just work. This is one of those things. Everything about this works. From the implementation to the gameplay loop, it just works. It’s extremely satisfying. I’m happy to pay a few bucks for a contained experience like back in the day. I’ll pay 5 bucks for this experience all day long. It’s infinitely more fulfilling than every single p2w gacha combined. And it’s a game about digging a hole. The philosophical implications of digging a virtual hole being more spiritually fulfilling than an entire genre of entertainment are hilarious. Dig your hole. Find your zen.
Good game, in this mobile version it’s just a bit hard to move around (walking, jumping, turning).
I have played this game on pc and I was excited when I saw it in the App Store. It is super fun to play, but I was a little disappointed when my backbone controller is not supported. Would love to get backbone controller support for it.
We need a Save game button to have 4 game because if your baby sister clicks new game and it starts a new game you can’t get it back and that is what happened to me pls update the Save game button Update.
The game is super fun. My only suggestion is to make it so you don’t have random particles sticking around and that those particles will clear up automatically.
This game is so freaking fun that I shared it with my cousin. It’s really worth buying I do recommend. It helps me with stress or when I’m just bored. Overall the best digging game ever.
