- Rogue-like mode added! Create a new game to play!
- Companion AI improved
9th Dawn III is an absolute behemoth of an RPG. It’s a love letter to the classic top-down dungeon crawlers of old but packed with modern depth. The sheer amount of content is staggering—from a massive open world to explore to a deep monster-collecting system where you can hatch and train almost any creature you find.
The combat is fast-paced and rewarding, but the secondary systems like crafting, fishing, and the in-game card game (Fyud) make it a world you can truly live in. It doesn't hold your hand, which is refreshing in the modern mobile landscape. If you want a game you can sink 100 hours into, this is it.
Massive open world with no loading screens
Monster collecting and evolution system
In-depth Fyud card game
Robust crafting and skill systems
To tame monsters, you first need to find their eggs or use bait. Once tamed, they fight alongside you and can be leveled up just like your main character.
Don't ignore the non-combat skills. Cooking, smithing, and alchemy are vital for surviving the high-level dungeons found in the northern reaches.
Yes, it is a fully offline single-player experience with optional 2-player local co-op on some platforms.
This game does not hold your hand much, first off. You are given the freedom to explore with lots of areas open to you if you can find a way to survive and get there! There is a ton of customizablility as pretty early on you unlock a 2nd player who has all the same possibilities as your first. So you can have a fighter and a mage combo, etc. Another route is to go more of a stealth ranger with pets that you raise. There is a lot of crafting and fishing mechanics which I’m usually not into. They are a litttle slow going at first but speed up. I’d recommend starting with mining/smelting and then armor and weapons, since the ore is free and you can make some money selling the stuff you make to invest in other crafting. There really is a lot of freedom in how you explore, this has had me pretty hooked the last few days since I got it! Also, the dev is amazing, they are handling improvements with a rapid turnaround and I think it’s one person or a very small team. I expect more improvements to come but I am enjoying this a ton already and heartily recommend, if you are ok with not having your hand held.
Ok let me start off by saying that I am terrible at writing reviews. But I think this game deserves one. I have played about 2 hours of the game so far. Hands down....Awesome. The devs did a great job. So far I have had a blast. The crafting system is fun. Not to challenging but enough to keep it interesting. Combat reminds in a way of Terraria in the sense that you basically hold down attack and go. That in its self can get boring but seeing as how this is the mobile version, it works. Questing, they don’t hold your hand too much which is a good thing. Make sure you READ the dialog though. Otherwise you will have to go back to the quest menu to figure it out. Best of all the card mini game. I spent about 30 straight playing it. It’s easy to understand and fun to play. Best of all I haven’t seen a single micro transaction!!! Honestly for the price. This is a great game and I hope everyone gives this a chance because these guys really made something fun.
Put about 45+ hours into this game and grinded levels. Got my mining and smelting up to 80 (along with some others) and played the card game and got all the cards up to a certain point. Have animals and all to battle with. I wanted to do cooking next. With a small display on phone and big thumbs I accidentally called Foddy > Foody and all his princes increased. There is no “are you sure” nothing. I force quit the game by terminating the game files. The game decided to auto save either way. Now I’m stuck paying higher prices. Really bad execution on this and kinda ruined the game for me because who knows what else is out there that if you accidentally press a button it’ll mess the game up further. Other games have a “confirmation” screen if it’s permanent. While others have a way to revert back. Lastly, some will allow you to have multiple saves and can go back to earlier game files. Not this one and even though it was on me there should have been something there to make sure you could go back. I’m not starting over and grinding it was already hard enough. In my OPINION (not fact) this game is trash. Never buying from these developers/publishers.
Two of my favorite, most-played games on iOS are Cavern and Cardinal Quest II. 9th Dawn III feels like the best parts of those games multiplied by 100. Don’t let the 2D pixel art fool you — this is truly a full-fledged, open-world game with loads of satisfying RPG mechanics. After only a few hours of play, I’ve gotten a sense of the scale and depth of the world. So much to explore, so many quests and conversations to discover, so many monsters to fight and capture. There’s a huge variety of fighting styles and equipment, so the replay value is practically unlimited if you want to roll another character and tackle the game with a different strategy. The simple twin stick controls are easy to use, if a little finicky (maybe add a customization setting for joystick sensitivity?) and the menus/inventory screens aren’t too cluttered. On an iPhone XR, the text is small but legible. Overall, this is an incredibly well-made game to have come from a one-man development studio. 100% worth the $10 for such a polished premium iOS experience! My only regret is that I didn’t discover the 9th Dawn series until now. I’ll be playing this one for a long long time, and will undoubtedly find myself re-installing and re-playing it for many years to come.
I want to love this game. But it is just alright. The difficulty curve is all over the place. It is super easy, then you walk into something that one shots you with no warning. Class balance is also bad. There are a 6 pages of mage ability’s 1 page (4) warrior ability’s and 1 rogue ability which is stealth. I wanted to play and archer but not one single archer ability. Another thing is the annoying shop keepers and quest givers never seem to be in their shop. I tried to learn fishing, but had to cook a meal first. Cook wouldn’t talk to me because he wasn’t in his room. I came back found him in the right place finally. Did his quest and couldn’t turn it in until waiting for him to be in the room again, finally got this dish for the fisherman went to him and nope not in his room won’t talk to me. Tried to buy arrow nope dude not home. Finally buy arrows and they cost 54 gold each. Can afford less then 100 and it takes 3 to kill a rat. So I am out before I even get to the dungeon. I restarted as a caster and the game is a lot more fun. As long as you like playing as a mage the game is good. But it could be great with some polish.
I loved part two and for the most I really like this game. However, there’s one aspect that is massively flawed; the crafting. All of them are pretty infuriating, but the one that motivated me to write this review is the gem crafting. First, you have to have goblins blood, which is very difficult to get because you only get one per every 10-15 goblins that you kill. That might even be a generous number. Because you can be underground and disposing of massive swarms and still only get 2 after the field clears. So, I spent about an hour to an hour and a half clearing goblins, I even went back outside twice to reset them. I walked away with 37 pieces of goblins blood. Considering you need at least 6 to have a shot at crafting a gem, it doesn’t leave many chances.... So I decided to go and try to craft a few and of course, since it’s next to impossible to get your skill level up with so few try’s at it, my level was 6. I wasn’t surprised when the only 6 attempts I had to craft a gem ended in failure. Even though I kept the dial as close to good as you can.... So now I need to clear zombies for three hours just to get 12 chances? Who has that time? Oh and the 6 try’s I had that all failed....didn’t even raise my level to 7....AWESOME I’m gonna stop wasting my time until there’s an update that fixes this broken craft nonsense....
I stumbled across this gem and now I can’t get enough of it. There is SO much finely crafted content in this game that will satisfy any respectable gamer who has a refined eye for quality. It reminds me of a 16-bit hybrid of elder scrolls and diablo but you can tame pets to bring into battle. I am well over forty hours in and must say that I am quite pleased with my purchase, and I have to mention that the 📲console command feature is a GENIUS move. Need that pesky Infusion Catalyst to craft that thingamabob? Command it in. Thanks Developer/s and bravo
I’ve only been playing for two days, will update this review with in depth information after I have more experience with the game, but I just wanted to briefly note that this game is awesome thus far and is exactly what I’ve been searching for on iPad for what seems like years now. I’m thoroughly impressed and thoroughly enthralled and having nonstop fun with the game. It appears to be worth every penny and more. Will update in detail in near future, just wanted to say I’m happy with the purchase!
