In Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden, players set sail for an archipelago protected by Maidens. When one island faces ruin without a protector, a young protagonist sets out to help a girl who couldn't become a maiden. This standalone experience features the signature card-aesthetic, turn-based combat, and a deep narrative overseen by Yoko Taro.

Our Expert Score

84/100

The Forsaken Maiden acts as a standalone sequel to The Isle Dragon Roars, and it doubles down on everything that made the first game special while offering a more emotional, character-driven narrative. Set on a remote chain of islands, the stakes feel more personal as you escort a girl who failed to become a maiden to her destiny.

The gameplay remains consistent with the previous entry—card-based exploration and turn-based combat—but the island-hopping setting provides a refreshing change of scenery. The game is arguably more difficult than its predecessor, requiring a better understanding of the skill system and gem management. It's a melancholic, beautiful journey that fits perfectly in your pocket.

No screen rotation option

If you are going to make a game for a tablet or smartphone at least make it able to screen rotate so that people can play it any direction they want.

Great Game!

Sad to see negative reviews due to technical issues. This is a great game. I have purchased all 3 and love them greatly. Quick and easy to pick up and play. The auto save helps when you have to abruptly close out. The story is really neat and I find the battle difficulty to be well balanced. Screen doesn’t rotate, but it has to be played in landscape mode and does it really matter if the camera notch is to the left instead of right? No! It does not.

Network connection needed
Fri Jul 07 2023 TsukinoKou

App is fun and engaging but fails to mention a network connection is needed to boot the game up. If no connection is detected game will fail to boot and no way to bypass. For a paid game, network connections should not be needed.
