improvements and bug-fixes
Uboat Attack delivers a surprisingly tense submarine warfare experience for a mobile game. It manages to capture the claustrophobic and methodical nature of underwater combat without being overly complicated. Looking through the periscope and timing your torpedo shots against enemy destroyers and cargo ships is immensely satisfying.
The graphics are quite impressive, with realistic water physics and detailed ship models. The progression system keeps you coming back as you upgrade your submarine's speed, hull strength, and torpedo capacity. While it can get a bit repetitive after a while, the thrill of a successful stealth attack and the frantic nature of diving to avoid depth charges keeps the adrenaline pumping.
Realistic submarine simulation
Detailed 3D graphics and water effects
Extensive upgrade system for your U-boat
Variety of enemy ship classes and missions
Always fire your torpedoes from a distance where the enemy ship's path is predictable. Dive immediately after firing to avoid detection.
Players switch between a map view for navigation and a periscope view for combat. Managing depth and speed is key to survival.
Yes, as you progress you can unlock various models of historical submarines with different stats.
First, let me tell you about this game. It was fun at the start even though I didn’t purchase anything except for the ad free addition everything worked really well but now it seems like they’re getting money hungry and want you to buy because they’re putting things in place that do not allow you to get your rewards and I will just list them here. 1. Multiplying your award does not work. It always sends me off to a place where I don’t get credit at the five times I just get a white screen with options to purchase insurance or other things but never actually get the reward. 2. You get to a certain place on the leaderboard, and if you don’t continue to play, you lose your place on the leaderboard 3. Same goes for the game board they give you 15 fuel credits but if you stop playing it sets you to another place on the board where you have to use five fuel credits just to get back to where you were at. This was a fun game for a while but now it’s just becoming a problem because you don’t get what you are playing for even if you’re not playing for money and you’re living within their parameters. It’s still not worth it. It’s just a waste of time.
I have fun with this game b/c it’s an easy diversion. A few issues though. 1) why can you sink a Cruiser with one torpedo, but need a couple to sink a Destroyer, which is a more lightly armored ship? They didn’t call them Tin Cans for nothing. 2) It’s not realistic that the ships keep moving at the same speed once they’ve been hit, especially if you strike them in the rudder area, they would lose a lot of maneuverability. It might be realistic that the larger ships might not lose as much speed or maneuverability, the smaller ships certainly would. 3) I already built the Yankee port, and have been on the next one after this for several rounds now, but there is no rectangular button showing in the lower right hand that will actually allow you to build it. 4. Some explanation of what “Main” means in the improvements you can make. 5. Why can’t you control the sub’s movement to get around on the other side of the hospital ship? Once after I hit the big ship behind it a couple times, the hospital ship went in front of it and never moved off of the ship. I fired torpedos out in front of it and the rear, to see if that would cause it to move, but nothing happened. Had to close the app and start over. 6. Finally, sub warfare is most often conducted against a complex convoy, not against battleships, Japanese aircraft carriers (Flattops). 7. Finally some increasing level of complexity would be nice.
Update: I have decided to delete the game from my iPhone and the #1 reason is that is was become absolutely boring to play. Due to the incompleteness of the game, I don’t find it to be even remotely challenging anymore. With the free version, I spend more time watching ads than I do actually playing. I seriously don’t see why I should even consider paying money to play, even though the ads are annoying and repetitive. It was fun when I started, but I honestly don’t see any reason to keep going. I might check back in the future to see if it improves, but I’m going to look for another game on which to spend my leisure time. This is obviously an early version of the game, with additional torpedoes to be added for the player. For some reason, we accumulate points to build ports, but this only goes until level 25 because level 26 is “under construction”. Of course, it’s a challenging game when you’re a beginner, but it doesn’t become harder as you advance in the game. Defeating the enemy eventually becomes pathetically easy. I opted to use the free version because I don’t want to spend money on a game that’s really not in its complete version, despite being available for a year. Neither do I see any benefit in spending almost $10 for the “Premium Gato Class Submarine” at the moment. I understand the need for ads, since income will fund the development of the game. But, ads last longer than actual gameplay, it gets to a point where it just isn’t worth opening the app anymore.
I was working through the game, gold hammers, port storage and skip it’s were abundant and inexpensive. Then the gold hammers became a little harder to get. I have been working through the port storage and got up to level 400 (about 280,000 silver coins) and the next day the same level 400 is a paltry 44,000 coins! That is completely bogus! Your trying to get the silver coins to bolster your fleet (200,000 coins per click on the big locker) and now you have to play 5 times as long and all for just one locker of cards? If this isn’t fixed, I will be deleting the game! I buy skip it’s occasionally, weapon and new ships, but now it’s not worth the aggravation of clearing levels and playing the liberation and raid missions. You have to spend too much time and money to get what used to be almost free. Guys, restore the port storage and fix the card redundancy (for instance, I have several ships maxed out at 100, but I still get more of these cards! Cards I don’t need!), or many of us will stop playing and delete the game. Don’t pull the rug out from under us! Play fair!
The game itself is pretty fun and mildly addicting. What helps break the addiction is that the company over time has gotten greedy and usually only shows long ads that can’t be skipped after 10-15 seconds. Occasionally they set it so that you get shorter ads or ones that can be skipped after 10 seconds or so; on those days I play many rounds. In more recent times, those days seem longer and farther apart. Good news is that the company’s greed has helped ween me off the game, so I rarely play it. (I check in daily to get my loot box and see if they are still running longs ads; if so, I leave, but if ads are shorter, I stay and play.) The ads are so bad I would normally give this one star, but the game is fundamentally good so I give it two stars. (P.S. — I would pay to remove ads, but I don’t trust them to remove the ads from the ‘multiply’ option or the ‘double reward’ options, so I haven’t gone that route. If I trusted them to literally remove all ads for all parts of the game, I would play for that.) In response to the developer’s claim they don’t control the advertising length or ability to skip after 10-15 seconds, that is just not credible. The fact that other games (example: Pooking, a pool game) have never forced me to sit through 1+ minute advertisements is pretty strong evidence that there are alternative paths the developers could have chosen. Given the sophistication of the game, it’s hard to believe that the developers are unaware of this. (BTW, a good strategy to handle the ridiculous length advertising is to play this game on an iPad and then during the advertising, switch to another game like Pooking. Take a couple of pool shots and then go back to subs…)
Have persisted through many evolutions and countless hours of playing this game. Developers made major improvements and graphics are dramatically better. Gameplay got better for a while until this leagues concept. Okay, maybe it was interesting at the beginning ranks, but it gets dramatically harder and advancement take ridiculously longer, and by black diamond it becomes depressingly hard to advance, then if you stop for a couple hours lose pretty much all you progress, as in HOURS to recover. To get to the top of this final league can take 5-6 hours of non-stop play. Then to top it off doesn’t recognize making it to P1 and you start the rank all over when the clock runs out. Also buying “better” ships gains you nothing in sinking ships. The only thing worth paying for is the ads block. Also it seems to crash every 14-15 minutes adding to time penalties. Used to be fun to play for a few minutes, do some sinking, then put it down. Now it would be depressing just to see how far down the ranks you fell. Earning most of the stuff gains you nothing, buys you nothing. Not sure what the next evolution holds, but I’m done.
Seriously, stay away from this game! It is virtually impossible to advance from level to level. It is full of scams to separate you from your money. The scoring is ridiculous once you enter the leagues… first the next promotion requires doubling the points required from the last level. You only average around 600 points per battle (often much less) and you have to go a million or two to the next level… do the math to see how often you actually get to upgrade. Then if you leave the game while in a league, you lose all of your progress and go to last place. Every battle starts off with an opportunity to view multiple ads in order to acquire extra capabilities. The game is solely focused on making as much money and showing as many ads as possible. Even if you pay the $5 for ad free use, they still push ads to the max. Look at the most recent reviews and count the number of 1 stars. Their rating is pretty high simply because they waited for a large player pool to be established with decent ratings… then they started pumping it full of bad programming (compass that swings backwards and glitches and impossible situations such as ships that can shoot through an island) and every battle forcing you to decline watching ads before you can proceed. Do yourself a favor and just leave this in the App Store.
Been playing for a day and have noticed some things that take away from it and bugs. Fun except now it loads an ad almost every chance it gets. I don’t mind the ads at the end of a round, but not at the beginning when you just watched one and certainly not during the round without any regard as to reason. Other Voodoo products out there have started this same tactic as well. Greed driven part of the company. Now to a bug: The first bug I’ve found is when it says you’ve run out of ammo to finish the remaining targets, watch the ad for five more torpedoes, launch two to three of them and it then says you’ve run out of torpedoes again, you have to watch another ad again or restart even though it’s still showing ammo remaining that can be used. This is something that needs to be addressed. Update to show what level of stats you need in order to successfully complete the match. I’ll burn out trying to play matches where I just upgraded only to find out I need to upgrade a few more times just to finish the match. If I have to do every single match, I’ll just quit playing this game and move to another that’s less cumbersome. Thanks for listening.
