- New high-score tables for competetive gameplay
- Trap tigers in the least possible moves
Tigers and Goats (Bagh-Chal) is a beautiful digital adaptation of the traditional board game from Nepal. It’s an asymmetrical strategy game that feels like a more complex version of checkers, and it’s incredibly deep for such simple rules. Playing as the goats requires careful, defensive positioning to trap the tigers, while the tigers must be aggressive and calculated to thin out the goat population.
This version features a clean, traditional aesthetic that respects its cultural roots. The AI is challenging, and the local multiplayer is a great way to introduce friends to this classic. It’s a fantastic pick for board game enthusiasts looking for a quick but mentally stimulating challenge that has stood the test of time. It’s educational, fun, and a great way to keep a piece of cultural history alive on your phone.

As the goats, your strength is in numbers. Never leave a single goat isolated near a tiger, as they can jump over you to 'eat' you. Build solid blocks of goats to restrict the tiger's movement until they have no legal moves left.
The tigers win by reducing the goat count. Look for gaps in the goat's formation. Sometimes it's worth letting the goats move into a position that seems safe, only to reveal a jump opportunity on your next turn.
The goats win if they manage to block all four tigers so they can no longer make a move.
Love playing this game on an iPad or Mac. The marathi name for this game is Wagh Shelya. One suggestion to the developers is to add an undo button somewhere - sometimes I end up moving a goat carelessly and realize too late it can be eaten by a tiger.
One player mode has you play yourself. OK. But that’s not great. Ever played yourself in Chess? Not really. Thing. // also feedback. It’s distracting to have all the goats in this visible ring around the periphery of the board. If you could mimic the physical game, pieces would be placed from the side. (Although, perhaps I admit I have the version, and is different from this. Mine is Tibet I think. ). Thx!
The game is wonderful, it's a lot like chess but requires even deeper thinking. The tutorials out here make it very easy for someone like me to even understand how the gameplay works.
Good introduction to 2-player strategy games for beginners. Easy to learn and play compared with chess or go. Hard for goats to trap tigers if tigers play optimally.
2 player game is a great addition.
