Minor performance improvements.
The Birdcage is an exquisite puzzle game that evokes the tactile satisfaction of 'The Room' series. Each cage is a complex mechanical box that you must poke, prod, and manipulate to find the hidden key. The 360-degree rotation of the cages feels natural, and the puzzles are logically sound—no 'moon logic' here.
What truly elevates the experience is the atmosphere. There's a melancholic, magical story woven into the mechanics, and the sound of the birds reacting to your progress adds a layer of empathy that most puzzle games lack. It’s a beautiful, polished, and mentally stimulating adventure that is perfect for a rainy afternoon.
21 beautiful, hand-crafted mechanical cages
Intuitive AR-ready 3D touch controls
Engaging story about a king and the wind
Original atmospheric soundtrack
Hidden secrets and gem collection
Cages are fully 3D. Swipe to rotate around the entire structure. Look for small discrepancies in patterns, loose panels, or items that can be picked up and placed elsewhere. Often, the solution involves looking at the cage from a specific angle to reveal hidden symbols.
While your main goal is to free the bird, each cage also contains hidden blue gems. Collecting all gems in a level unlocks further story details and bonus content, providing an extra layer of challenge for eagle-eyed players.
Yes, there is a hint system that can provide a nudge in the right direction without spoiling the whole puzzle.
...since about two years ago. I discovered it here in Apple App Store. I played one game and I immediately bought the whole thing, no ads, all games! To my eternal delight, I complete any set (after I cleared all the original sets....oh, what fun....)that shows up, and play sets of new puzzles...we were told to keep an eye on our games,The Birdcage & Birdcage 2, and sure enough, from time to time new sets of puzzles arrive. I am playing them right now, but I discovered something I want to share with the other players! ***Have you ever whistled at any of the caged birds?? To my astonishment the cardinals start looking around and whistle back. I know they cannot see me....[unless they are freeing me from my living room!](COVID-19 joke, gang,) but they behave as if I were there! They twist their heads and begin to sing notes! While I solve the puzzles, ‘we’ sing to each other....pretty neat.... ***Did you guys put that in the program??? I love this game...it keeps giving back! I am totally delighted I paid all freight....Thank you! ****I read a few of the posted reviews...the ones which stated “this game is boring...” or “only for babies...”, and I wonder why they are missing the whole point of the game. It’s not to rush through each level; it’s to enjoy the thought processes that help you figure out what comes next....what can I do to get ‘this to there’ ....I take the time to enjoy looking at the beautifully rendered birds in each part of the game....there is a type of meditation here, but if you don’t stop and acknowledge it; you missed the whole idea. Love the music and watching the freed birds fly!
The illustration in this game is lovely and the background music is very soothing, so overall it was a really enjoyable game. I meant to only give it 4 stars, though, because the storyline is a little week and then just drops out altogether on the dove level, and the puzzles need to be more challenging. Normally, I would expect the puzzles to grow more difficult with each level or at least with each pack, but in this game the difference between packs is just that the puzzle theme changes, although somewhat inconsistently. My suggestion for future update packs would be to increase the difficulty and variety of the puzzle types. Add elements like you would find in The Room and The House of Da Vinci. one thing I would love to see are more puzzles that are auditory or musically based. There doesn’t seem to be much out there in that genre, and it would definitely add a unique dimension. Since this is a game focusing on birds, maybe do something like locks opening through matching or replicating birdsong, for example. I will look forward to future updates!
I think this is a good puzzle game for those who are new in the puzzle genre. I went through the puzzles relatively quickly and the in-app purchases are cheap compared to some escape room/puzzle games similar to this. It kept my mind occupied and I found many of the levels replay-able. It’s not bad but an expansion would certainly be appreciated. Also I did run into a bug on one of the levels where the item display stopped working and I had to exit out of the app. Prolonged gameplay is likely to make the game bug up in small ways like this but nothing that an exit-and-swipe-away before coming back to the app can’t fix. Overall, I would recommend to busy people newer to puzzles who want a relatively easy escape-room-esque kind of game to play (and by easy, I mean that the clues in the puzzles are relatively easy to pick up on). I enjoyed it as a puzzle enthusiast, however, like I mentioned, I went through each level relatively quickly, quicker when replaying to get all the gems for unlocking the epilogue; you’ll have a harder time finding all the gems than beating each level. Those who desire head-scratching mega-puzzles may not find this difficult at all, especially since many of the puzzles have a theme and/or repeats types of puzzles.
Great graphics with easy maneuverability! Some say it's too easy but I don't think so. If you're just getting into AR and you haven't been a fan of room games before, I think this is the perfect game to introduce you to a new gaming experience. I have the Room Series and some of the levels weren't all that intuitive, nor that way that you didn't have to rack your brain a bit. I have to do that enough so when I sit down to relax I don't want something that's going to do anything but help me relax. Ok challenging but not so much that it loses the fun. When something is too hard and you keep getting stuck on levels and having to do them over again & again, then maybe have to go to a walk through to get thru that level...what fun is that? Certainly doesn't do anything to build you up after a hard days night ya kno? Summary; I think it's great the way it is, hard enough that it's not 1-2-3 but easy enough to accomplish. Then the only thing missing is >>>>>>>>>>>MORE LEVELS<<<<<<<<<<<<<< PLEASE
This is a nicely illustrated, animated and designed game that I would recommend to all beginners of the escape game genre. It teaches you some common mechanics and puzzles used in other such games. Although there is a bit of progression in difficulty, the puzzles are not difficult compared to what you will find in more advanced games, so it’s a fun and relaxing experience. Only the first two levels are free, and additional ones are a dollar or more each (one reason I dropped it down one star). But I see there are at least three separate Birdcage games available, so you can get a good number of free puzzles to work on, though the difficulty level does seem to plateau pretty early. You can also set the game to Augmented Reality (AR) mode, but the normal setting is perfectly fine. The only criticisms I have are that the backstory and what seems to be a side story are irrelevant to playing, and the drawings in the side story envelopes are quite awful (strange given how nicely the game itself is rendered).
The graphics are gorgeous. The story is a little weak but not bad. The puzzles, while clever, were easy and never progressed in difficulty. The AR version was fun for a couple of levels but I honestly got a bit tired of holding the phone up and ended up playing the normal version so I could hold the phone in my lap. Perhaps I need to work on my upper body strength. 😂 As a distraction, this is a beautiful and fun game but it’s not a complex puzzle game and I think anyone who’s played games like Myst or The Room will appreciate the look but not find the puzzles challenging. Oddly, the puzzles were kind of fun but there was no challenge to figuring them out. That being said, I did buy all of the levels with hopes that the puzzles would get more difficult. I’m on the fence as to whether it was worth the price for the 15 additional levels since it only took minutes to complete each level. For $5, I’d like to get a at least a good 2-3 hours of play time. As much as I enjoyed the mechanics and playing the game, I was definitely hoping for more challenging and was disappointed in how little puzzling the puzzles were. If you’re new to these types of puzzle games, this may be a good introduction to the genre. For more seasoned puzzle gamers, don’t expect a challenge. Overall, a nice introduction to the puzzle genre but not enough bite for any seasoned puzzler! Still, beautiful game and the puzzles are fun, if a bit repetitive and soft. Hope to see the developer continue in this vein with something more challenging!
Paid the “no ad” upgrade and then the levels dropped off after the dove level, Was disappointed in that. Felt like for $5.00 upgrade the levels should continued further. Such as ongoing past the ones shown. I liked the design and loved the puzzle aspect of the game. But I agree with other reviewers that think as the levels went on the puzzles should’ve gotten more difficult as well but not just end and then start another “The Birdcage 2” that’s going to do the same thing. Not paying for the levels past the crow level(Free) in Birdcage 2 because for $6.00 to have it end after the 4th bird level is not worth the money. If it was ongoing and didn’t also involve spiritism then I might consider it but Birdcage 2 went to a dark side and am not impressed. Loved, Loved, Loved The Birdcage and would play it if more levels were added to it, but will not move ahead with The Birdcage 2 past the free levels. Don’t like the direction the story went or the fact that it’s more $$ to come to and end as well! Do better developers! 😔😔
This game is stunning visually and has some interesting story bits. Unfortunately all of the puzzles were meant for a 6-8 year old child level. AR is kinda cool but annoying since you have to keep moving the camera. Not a bad game to occupy young kids but as an adult or smart child you’ll get 0 satisfaction or sense of achievement from this. I kept playing in hopes of the puzzles ramping up in difficulty but they never did. Even the gems are basically found in the same few spots every stage. Some puzzle designs utilized some refreshing mechanics, but was completely underwhelmed by how straightforward and easy they were. They literally plaster all the answers right in front of your face. They also reuse the same type of puzzle mechanic over and over again. So if you want something pretty that can waste about 10 seconds of your life per stage this good. But if you’re looking for a challenging puzzle look elsewhere.
