The Birdcage 3 continues the series' legacy of providing some of the most tactile and satisfying 'box-style' puzzles on mobile. There is a weight to every lever and a click to every key that makes the interactions feel physical. The magic-focused theme of this installment is a great fit, allowing for more creative and visual puzzles that go beyond mere mechanical locks.
The story is told subtly through the environments and the birds you rescue, providing just enough mystery to keep you moving forward. Visually, it's a step up from the previous entries, with better lighting and more intricate cage designs. If you are a fan of 'The Room' series, The Birdcage 3 is the closest you can get to that level of quality and atmosphere. It’s a polished, thoughtful, and deeply rewarding puzzle experience.
Tactile 3D puzzle mechanics
Beautifully rendered magical worlds
Intriguing environmental story
Relaxing yet challenging logic
High-quality sound design
Always rotate the cage fully before interacting with anything. Often, a small symbol on the back of the cage is the key to a puzzle on the front. Use the 'zoom' feature to inspect tiny markings.
As you progress, you'll collect items like magic wands or lenses. These aren't just for show—the lens, for example, can reveal hidden ink that is invisible to the naked eye.
Yes, there is a multi-tier hint system that provides subtle clues before giving you the full solution.
Love this game, and the series. Great diversion to just play the Room-esque puzzles without having to do a storyline and travel back and forth to different rooms and areas. They are simple in the beginning and become more challenging as you progress (and require more thought). I am having a problem I saw mentioned in another review from this month (April 2024): In the Cyberpunk section L4, there is a box with four blue sliders. I checked the hint and apparently I am supposed to slide them all the way to the right, but they won’t go that far. They all stop short of the edge. EDIT: The hint is incorrect. The hint shows sliding the bars all the way to the edge and the two doors open. You cannot slide the bars all the way right or left; they stop short of the edge. Then you have to manually slide the doors open, unlike the way it looks in the hint (it seems automatic). Therefore, it appears stuck. But it’s not. The hint needs to be fixed. A few people have complained about having to pay or watch ads. How do you think developers fund their game development??? I’ll happily pay $5 for a few hours’ worth of entertainment and excellent graphics. Better than 99% of the crummy 2-hour movie rentals lately!
I love these games. But with the birdcage 3, it keeps kicking me out when I start the Steam levels. And it always makes me have to redo the last 3 levels of Tesla. I never had this issue with the first 2. And I really want to finish the whole game. Edit: the makers of the game was very quick to respond. I did figure out, that if after finishing a few levels at a time, if u leave for a while, then go back, it won’t kick u out. But u gotta leave between each set of levels too.
I have all the previous games and love all of them. Just like the rest, I paid for the extra levels and no ads. But on multiple different occasions, the app just closes and when I reopen it, all my progress is gone. Not completely gone but I finished all of the second pack and a few levels of the steampunk pack, but after it closed itself, when reopening it, only the first 3 levels of the 2nd pack were completed and the rest had to be redone. This is the third time it’s happened. The first two times I just redid the same levels over again but this time I’m just mad. It continuously resets my progress and I’m not having fun having to redo the same things over and over again. I’m logged in with my game enter account. It shows all the achievements from the levels I’ve finished but the game itself doesn’t say I’ve completed the levels I’ve solved multiple times now. I know it’s a new game so there’s bounds to be bugs, but it’s every time I’ve played it so far. It’s frustrating and makes me not want to play it at all anymore bc the second I make any progress, it’s just gone.
It’s not a secret that this game franchise borrows heavily from Fireproof Games’ The Room franchise, though even after three entries it continues to fail at basic things that Fireproof got right in the very first Room game. For one thing, it doesn’t tell you what anything you pick up is, sometimes it doesn’t need to of course, but sometimes you’ll just pick up some weird little device and there’s just no way to even know what you’re looking at, and there’s also no way to examine things in your inventory, so half the objects in your inventory, you won’t even know what they are, and with no way to find out this invariably leads you to frequently just dragging everything in your inventory around the environment until you figure out where it was supposed to be used. The hint system is not a hint system, it just shows you the answer to the puzzles. I could go on about my issues but it is a free (mostly) game and the visuals, particularly in the latest entry, are rather impressive, so I can’t complain too much. Plus this is getting long enough as it is. These games just have a serious case of “stuck in their superior older brother’s” shadow syndrome.
I like the puzzles in this game. They are more complex and more difficult than the first and second game. I also appreciate that there is a story revealed as you play like the first game. My only problem is that there are some glitches. Some puzzles don’t respond the way they are supposed to and only after looking at the hint did I realize that I was doing the right thing. The game also shut down a few times and reset my progress. There is also puzzle on Cyberpunk level 4 where after finishing the puzzle, it still prompts you to zoom in and the doors rotate all the way around and clip through the object. If those get fixed it would be a 5/5
I love this game so much! that once a ran out if the levels i kidnapped my neighbors pet bird and set up an cage puzzle thing like in the game! When that got boring i set a time limit so if they cant get it out fast enough the bird gets fried like at KFC! Too bad they saved it half a second before the KFC plan could go off I was really hungry Next thing i know i was invited to a house the owner’s name was cop And they also named there house. Strange right? Im not gonna lie! They were super bad at decorating! Concrete? Like seriously? Well now I'm not allowed to own any birds. or be within ten feet of them. I guess i graduated to this app again. Fave stars!
Out of the three games this is the least favorite. I’ve kept the other two in case I want to replay. This I deleted. I managed to finish it with only two hints and as others said the hints were things I had attempted multiple times. The game itself is dark in color but, I do like the addition of the use of surrounding items and the “bird view button” welcomed additions. But, the gameplay is a bit clunky, for example if you want to open the panel on the post of the cage, it takes multiple tries to tap EXACTLY in the right spot. And, some of the games like the marble in the maze, the ball wouldn’t follow and then it would?? I know this the first version, but perhaps next time more beta testing would help alleviate these and the other issues people encountered. Overall David, you do a great job and keep them coming!
I like this game, but as the puzzles get more complicated, the puzzles get convoluted. You aren’t sure if you need to touch something, move something, are finished with it. No pop up text, nothing. The scene should auto close when the player is completed with that puzzle or part of the puzzle. It just leaves you on the scene. It’s a frustrating game, but with a little foresight could be a good game. The devloper should add text tips. Not hints. Just tips. Like “there is nothing left to do here” if you are tapping around. That would allow you to progress.
