Thrash Rally is an overhead racer that evokes memories of classics like Micro Machines, but with a grittier, rally-focused SNK twist. Originally released in 1991, its charm lies in its simplicity and the challenge of its diverse tracks. You’re racing through cities and countryside, managing drifts and avoiding obstacles. This ACA NEOGEO version successfully preserves the tight handling and the frantic pace of the arcade original.

Technically, the port is solid. The inclusion of 'World Rally Championship Mode' gives the game a nice sense of progression. The overhead perspective can sometimes make judging depth tricky on a small phone screen, but the responsive virtual pad helps mitigate this. While it might not have the complexity of modern racers, its 'pick up and play' nature makes it an excellent choice for short commutes. It’s a pure piece of early 90s arcade history that still holds up as a challenging and fun racer today.
