1. New Legendary Fighter Update!
- Omega Rugal, Krizalid
2. Content Expansion
- Story stage party size, stages, and Infinity Challenge.
The King of Fighters AFK successfully translates the high-energy fighting of the SNK series into a manageable, strategic mobile RPG. The character sprites and skill animations are top-tier, capturing the iconic moves of Kyo and Iori with impressive fidelity. It's an 'idle' game, yes, but the strategy comes in the team composition and the timing of your 'Striker' assists.
I was impressed by the amount of content available even at launch—there's a long campaign, a tower to climb, and a solid PvP arena. The 'AFK' rewards are generous, making it a great choice for players who have busy schedules but still want to feel a sense of progression. It’s a nostalgic trip that fits perfectly in your pocket.
Classic KOF characters with modern idle mechanics
High-quality skill animations and effects
Robust AFK reward system
Guild wars and PvP arena modes
Even in an idle game, positioning matters. Put your high-defense 'Tank' characters in the front and your 'Damage Dealers' in the back. Matching fighters from the same team (like Team Fatal Fury) grants massive stat bonuses.
The core gameplay involves clearing stages in the main tournament. As you defeat bosses, your 'AFK' rewards per hour increase, providing more experience and gold to level up your roster.
A standard team consists of 3 main fighters and 3 strikers for support.
I find this game to be very fast paced and flashy. The retro style is awesome as well! I find the interface to be easier on the eyes compared to other AFK games and I enjoy watching my favorite characters play together as a team. The coordination rocks in this game. I am hoping to unlock all my favorites (I need Vanessa to complete that! 😮) Out of the other KOF mobile games, I personally find this to be a keeper because I don’t feel overwhelmed with all the options and offers and modes in the game. I don’t feel overwhelmed playing this. Fast paced and great for short bursts as well. I hope this game can last a long time because it is strong in the AFK nature and in its style. Great work for Netmarble on this one! Ora oraaa!!!
I hope the creators will see this, but this game is unfair. The dojo and the garden is very bothersome when an OP whale of player raids you making it IMPOSSIBLE to counter. Your best bet is to be in a squad with super active whales stronger than the one raiding you. Also, a lot of weird people who are too lazy to even help defend the raids when you ask for help. I feel like the raids should neutralize the power levels and make it fair so that it actually feels like you have a 50/50% chance to win against a whale. Definitely a money grabber for a wrong reason. I shouldn’t have gotten too into this game and spent quite a lot. But it’s to be expected in AFK games I guess. You can take my money, but not like this. Lol Besides that, I absolutely LOVE the cute pixel-style KOF characters, illustrations, their skill animations, and voice work. I was already a small fan and playing a different game that had a few KOF characters in it and that’s how I got more into the KOF world.
Just like all other netmarble faces games, P2W. Extremely low rate summons. They give you tons of premium coins/diamonds for them, up into millions to make the number look good, but you get very little summons and the rate are extremely low. They make you think OMG I got almost millions of these diamonds to use for summons! But summon also cost like 30k each. So 1 million of those diamonds really only get you about 33 summons times 30 which is about 990 units but with the extremely low rate you might not even get 1 high rating character. And for the “you get the character copy every how ever much summons? It’s 1000, which is basically 1million diamonds. And not to mention to star up the characters doesn’t take only one copy at a time, it starts at 2 copy. I have not play not enough to see how many copies it’ll take at higher stars, but I’ll assume it’ll go up to 10 to 20 copies at almost max. Game is basically P2W, worst, even whales might have hard time trying to P2W with the cost of things and how bad the summon rates are.
Nice to see a KOF pixel style RPG! Overall it's not bad, but there are still a few things that the production team should focus on: 1. There are just too many micro-paid ads, please focus on the user experience, the traces of P2W are too obvious now. 2、The equipment bar on the main game screen takes up too much space, please leave more space for the battle screen. 3, some content is really far-fetched, like planting flowers and other worthless, rather than designing a ring tournament to earn money to dress up the home, does not need any content is to increase the power of the battle. 4, since it is a KOF game, still hope that there will be manual combat opportunities, can be made into a PVP part, control pixel characters fighting must be very interesting. I hope this game can become a representative work of KOF mobile game, thanks to the production team!
Do you enjoy clicking on buttons when a little red dot tells you to? Then you’re gonna LOVE this “game”. I hesitate to even call it a game because you really don’t have any license or control over what’s happening outside of forming a team, which itself is pretty arbitrary since progression is gated behind the usual gacha time-wasting mechanics. Can’t get past a level? Just wait until you accrue enough of one of the fifty different resources to make some numbers go up or, as the developer would prefer, use that credit card to speed up the process! It’s artificial dopamine triggering masquerading as a game. If that sounds fun to you, have at her. You can click on buttons all day everyday and some whale with more money than common sense will get there one hundred times faster than you.
So I was super excited for this when I first heard about it, then I forgot it was even a thing because of how long it took to come out. So finally getting into it, everything was basically handed to you on a silver platter and that’s fine, plus the no ads for a week was really great, but other than that, not a lot to really look forward to. With a game that plays itself and all you have to do is CONSTANTLY tap the objective button, that’s not fun. “Beat 3 enemies (auto progresses) beat lvl 130 (auto progresses) summon characters (doesn’t auto progress even after summoning 100 times in a row not too long ago) It’s really just so annoying having to tap that and see that nothing is gonna change for that.
This game had great potential to be a great AFK title but it throws way too many systems at be players. The game is overwhelming for no reason. You’d think this game had excited for at least 3 years with so many systems arbitrarily thrown in. Also it requires you to be logged into the game way too often to get rewards. You have to constantly be clicking on objectives to get stage rewards instead of it automatically compiling. The stages also are very repetitive; I haven’t hit a wall yet despite being on stage 3000. It’s ok to let players stall a little bit…
I have no clue what causes it but occasionally my game would freeze requiring me to restart the app (playing on iPhone 15 pro max). Other than that I love this little pocket game. F2P FRIENDLY (Very Rare Nowadays!), unless chasing top placement on leaderboard! Also is people not realizing what a AFK game means? play for a few, take a break or sleep or live life, then return back and check back up on things. At the end of the day it’s a pocket game at the end of the day.
