Hey, the effort shows
Sun Feb 15 2015 OxcartMC

Okay, this game isn't perfect. Way far away from perfect, actually. But the effort is obvious and I'm not sorry I paid for it. Overall, it's a solid starship command game coupled with some nifty pixel art and some pretty good sound. The story is pretty thin and there's no path other than combat (yet...supposedly it's coming), but as far as it goes for now, it's good at what it does. Combat requires balancing tactics of intership battle and ship defense against boarders. There's damage control to handle, and tactical minigames (which actually aren't annoying at all; they make sense, are well designed, and add to the game). There have been bugs, yes, and there's still a list of unimplemented features, but they're still adding and changing, and it's been for the better. Given another chance, I'd still buy it. Perfect? No. But very good and well worth it. It's also worth noting that this is a developer that actually listens, amazing as that sounds. Player feedback about a really bad game mechanic was listened to, and that mechanic is gone. I'd recommend buying a copy; it's a good sci-fi game, something that's sadly rare on the App Store. Lack of updates is getting to be a real drawback, though.

Amazing - Must Get!
Sat Aug 22 2015 an awesome game!

Star Command is the best space RPG I have ever played. Having played this game since release, I know exactly how much fun you can have with this game. I played through the whole game in "Black Whole" mode, witch took me an insanely long time to complete. This game is not perfect however. Since release, it has not received an update, and the StarCom Guide app has nothing to say about it. I think that this game has a lot of potential to get better because the base is already there. The larger rooms can have as many people as the small ones witch is a problem. Also, the player cannot invade the enemy's ship and they can invade yours. You cannot see into the enemy ship and control your ship to target the enemy ship's crew. But, I think think this game has AMAZING music. I and other gamers out there know, and we really do know that good music makes a good game great. Overall, this game has a GREAT and ENGAGING storyline that is easy to follow. I absolutely LOVE the design of the ships and their upgrades and abilities. The idea is great, and could possibly become one of the most popular mobile games around. The one problem is that the game doesn't seem to be going anywhere, as it has not received an update even after several e-mails I have sent to contact the devs with new ideas and feed back. Great job devs, and thanks for creating such an amazing game that I have put so many hours into. -Cal

Worth it

A fine game, well worth the price. No in app purchases (thanks for that). It obvious has potential to grow, but it is very playable and you can play through what I assume is the first chapter. Took me 6 hours or so total. Maybe more. I enjoyed it quite a bit. If I had any critique it's be that the story doesn't give you enough choices that matter in relation to the overall plot - though it does give you a lot of choices that change how each mission will play out. Also it needs a button to return the entire crew to their duties at once after a battle. (Needs to be done manually for each crew member right now.) I'm impressed overall. Way back in the dos days, a game like this would be 20x the price. Oh, and before I bought it I read one review saying that it was very easy. Not true. I think it's more a matter of your skill level. I found normal mode quite challenging at times. And another that made it sound like you had to do a lot of complicated stuff to get people to attack. That's just not true. When you first bring on new crew, you have to assign them a part of the ship and that will determine if they have combat duties. They will auto attack if an enemy comes in range or you can move them to attack manually. Summary: good game. Worth the purchase.

Not worth your money...

Star command is boring, bland, and poorly made sci-fi game. Some of the four ships you can choose from have bad texture issues that let you see the inside from the outside and when you start to upgrade your ship they will stick out like sour thumbs. All the ships are mostly empty with way too much walk room and they look really boring. The medium rooms for some reason can only hold the same amount of people as the small rooms. When you are in the long and boring ship fights the enemy seems to have an unlimited amount of soldiers to send to your ship where as your max can go up to 21. You don't have the option to teleport soldiers to the enemy ship either. The way the Health works is that your shield gets broken by a pebble and then flames engulf you ship causing damage to systems and possible death to crew members(I like this) and your shield regenerates fairly quickly. On the other hand, the enemy's ships have a huge amount of shield and hull. You can't damage particular systems on their ship and you can kill their crew members unless one of their unlimited guys go on your ship. Your ship can be crippled but theirs can't. It's not really adventurous, you are on your boring looking ship the entire game. The story is boring and predictable, there are only three systems you can visit, and the combat is just you waiting the ridiculously long cool down time for your cannons. Go spend your money on out there.

Best space-RPG for iOS
Sun Jan 26 2014 Reedyboy107

This is probably the best space related RPG games out there for iOS. The ability to control all units is extremely helpful when under attack, and helps players actually get involved in the storyline instead of going along with it like other iOS games. The weapons controls are a bit tricky to learn, but adds to the excitement and tension when battling another spaceship. However, the main story is a bit short, and somewhat easily predictable. The main storyline seems like the first episode of a space-sci fi show, and kinda kills your soul when it ends. It would be nice if the game had "episodes" which put you in different scenarios. Now I'm not saying restart the player with a new ship and different storyline, I'm saying when the player beats the first story,a tab on the side of their screen lets them select a story, then the game will act accordingly to that story. Such as a message will pop up telling you to explore a new solar system or galaxy that is uncharted, then you save the world or universe from whatever. This is an amazing game that should be bought right away. It still looks like a work in progress app, but I have faith much more is to come.

Fun Sci-fi Strategy Game
Mon Aug 15 2016 GpReviews

This game reminds me of FTL, and I mean that as a complement. Taking command of a ship, you make decisions on what modifications and improvements to make as you progress through the game. You also manage crew member locations and they gain experience as they survive the game. Gameplay consists of traveling to different planets and systems, engaging in a brief dialog and cutscenes before a ship battle commences. Occasionally you will be boarded and you must maneuver your tactical crew to engage enemies while keeping defenseless science and engineering classes out of the way. The story progression is somewhat linear, though you may choose when to progress and whether to do side missions. Tokens for upgrades to the ship are given after finishing each system battle. I finished the story in about two days, I'd say 6-8 hours of gameplay. After finishing you may play again on a harder difficulty with a better ship and more options. You may save the game in one of three slots between missions, including iCloud access. Overall its a fun and humorous game with good value and I hope to see more from the devs in terms of similar games or additional content for this one.

Great! But some suggestions
Mon Jun 23 2014 I DOESNT WORK

This game is fantastic and I loved every second of it but there needs to be more galaxies and planets along with a locked door mechanic so if your engineers are in a room they can lock 1 door of our choice because but the enemy have to shoot it or claw at it because Even ZOMBIES can open doors ZOMBIES! Also I found a glitch where if a crewman goes out the air lock then the battle needs he will stay on the side on the side of the ship and just sit there and I can't get a new person because the game thinkers he is alive but I think if you save and quit it will get rid of it also fix there path finding so if there's a hull breach they will avoid it or if there's fire because I've lost a lot of guys that way and there ended to be Multiyplayer and 3v3 battles as seen in the pic of the game and cleanse and one last thing there needs to be a passive way out of battles for the other race but some just hostel but other then that I love this game and it's great and and I can't wait to the update.

It's got potential.

This game could have been amazing. Quite frankly, they wasted it. Yes, yes it has no in app purchases(yet) and good music. But what they did with it is terrible. With the difficulties it's a joke, played through the game on the first 3. Easy means you will never take 1 point of hull damage, normal only means the same but your guns do a little less, not that it matters considering from the start on those two difficulties you have the shields of God for the rest of the game. On hard it is actually extremely difficult, which I like. The game takes about half an hour to complete with the smallest ship. They have many locations on the map, 25% are actually visitable, even though it prides itself on 'much content and massive map'. Yeah no. Another thing, the massive ships the size of factories shoot out this weak little children's toy of a stomp-rocket. If they fix the map, add more content, fix the combat, add a roster instead of tracking down every crew-member for commands, and maybe add a red blip where your ship is damaged, and give it a good polish overall, it will be a 10 stars game. At this point I do not suggest you to buy it, but keep an eye on it for updates.
