Bug fixes and improvements: We've fixed some bugs and made performance improvements to keep your experience smooth and seamless.
SongPop is the king of music trivia, and this version keeps the crown. The premise is simple: listen to a short clip and guess the artist or song title faster than your opponent. It’s a high-speed test of your musical knowledge across every genre imaginable.
What makes SongPop so good is the social aspect. Challenging friends or random players to a 1v1 duel is endlessly fun. The library of songs is massive, and you can specialize in anything from 90s Grunge to modern K-Pop. It’s polished, competitive, and a great way to discover new music while proving your 'audiophile' status.
Thousands of real music clips
Global multiplayer competitions
Daily tournaments and rewards
Discovery of new artists
Points are awarded based on how quickly you answer. Even if you aren't 100% sure, sometimes a fast educated guess is better than a slow correct one in a tight match.
Compete against others in real-time or turn-based matches to see who has the best musical ear.
The game uses its own massive licensed library of playlists rather than your personal device library.
I love this game and love how competitive it gets with vs another person in different genre of music. But I think there should be like a whole stat line on your progress, on your win percentage is all time, also the winning percentage on every month. Also have your win loss record. Also think there should be like different genre percentage. Meaning like which genre your really good at or if you have a low percentage in a certain genre you can work on it to get better at it. Also think there should be like a ranking system to see where place at all time in the app and based it on the w-l record and the all time win percentage. Also one last thing is that I think if you get to the point where you unlocked the double exp for the month that every time you level up a playlist that the exp for that playlist should be double exp as well. That’s it love the game and keep up the awesome work
I never write reviews unless I feel very strongly about it. I have already paid for a year subscription, or I would just delete the app. When it’s working, the game is awesome— unfortunately, that is a very rare occurrence. I’ve been playing this game for a few months. I am shocked that a company can get away with selling a product with so many problems AND have such terrible customer service. I have received way better support from companies with no cost. This game has a CRAZY amount of bugs. *They give a limited amount of coins and tickets (even though I pay a very expensive subscription), so I often make in-app purchases. Over 5 times in the past week, I didn’t receive what I paid for. ($10-20 a week just thrown away) **Often, the app doesn’t give me coins and/or gems that I’ve earned. ***Also, the game will very often just close in the middle of a game… a game you have to pay tickets to play… and when the app restarts, the ticket is lost. I have contacted support dozens of times every week to report the errors with screenshots and screen recordings. If they reply (they don’t always), I only receive canned responses that provide no solution or compensation. ((The errors occur regardless of the device I use. I have a brand new 2023 iPad and iPhone 13 Pro. I have full Wifi —and cellular data as a backup. I have fast internet speed, my devices are not low on storage, and my devices and the app are all up to date.))
Feels like a step back from SongPop 2. As an avid player of 2 I was also disappointed that none of my progress, friends, or playlists transferred over. The interface is prettier, sure but it is much more cluttered and confusing. Doing just about anything is far more difficult than it needs to be. Very much form over function. You also can’t turn off the sound effects which is really aggravating. All too often I get stuck in a navigation “trap” where I can’t get back to the home screen and have to force quit. Progression in 2 felt right - even at the free tier. Progress in 3 has slowed considerably. It takes significant effort to unlock even basic features. You can’t even “like” songs without weeks of grinding to get to level 20. You can’t unlock new tiers of songs without spending coins. Progression is just punishing, and to add insult to injury there’s fewer playlists in 3 than 2 so there’s less variety in music. The multi-player aspects are frustrating as well. Actually seeing what a challenge is before you play it feels hit or miss. There’s genres I have no interest in, and denying a challenge is now an arduous multi-step process. Perhaps worse of all is the cost. While the interstitial ads in 2 were tolerable, in 3 they have being simply unbearable. The ads are constant and non-skippable. It’s so aggressive that it’s nearly unplayable without paying the subscription fee - an outrageous $9/mo - and that’s not even the top tier! You are still heavily up-sold on the even more outrageous $19/mo plan. I’ll just go back to playing the more balanced and fun SongPop 2.
If you love music, you will love this game. It is a lot of fun. The only problem I have with it is there is no one to communicate with. I guess this is a sign of things to come in the future. It is going to cause a lot of frustration in the human community. They finally transferred the game over but as I had already cancelled the other One a long time ago, I had to cancel this one to do it. So I presume next month we will be back to connecting the 2 again. It will become a monthly thing. It is what it is besides that I love this game. SP 2 is a headache. Mostly the app opens blank. Now SP 3 has some tune thing with 3bursts 😂 of sound & you must guess the song. Mostly I can’t even hear the burst of sound. 😂 Now I have asked them for many weeks to fix the button on SP3 where I get my coins & diamonds on a daily basis. It allows you to collect more than once sometimes & they always remind me to collet them, it’s part of my membership. Well I would, if I could. Mine only allows one time for my tap to work. I can keep hitting, it won’t collect. I sent pics to show them it says collect & I can’t. I gave up & am seriously considering taking a break while they sort out their mess. If a human was around, this would probably be fixed but I’m arguing with AI’s I think. The times they are a changing. It’s not going to be for the better, for a while while they try understand us. I met some good people on this game. I usually return for them. Let’s see this time. No nothing has been fixed - nothing. You waste your time reporting an issue.
This game makes some really weird choices. For instance. You have to be Level 25 in order to even Like a song, you have to be level 15 to Chat with friends, that’s right the ability to CHAT is locked behind a Level wall. Something as simple as changing your profile pic will require you to be Level 16. This in its self wouldn’t be such a problem, if the game didn’t have what it call a “Experience Cap”. You can only earn so much. EXP a day, you can break that cap, by using the games premium currency, which means you will have to spend some money, just to level up! This makes it really hard to stay engaged in the first place, I like the idea of being able to play against another person all while discovering new artists you thought you’d never be into, but this game makes a lot of weird choices, I’m not a big fan of all these Level restrictions, why must I be a certain level to customize or like a song I thought was pretty cool? I have Apple Music so whenever I find a song I just look it up on there and add it to my library, and this is one of the games strongest aspects, discovering new tunes. It’s hard to recommend, simply because of the absurd Level restrictions the game requires you to have to even express yourself.
SongPop has generally been a game that forces a premium on you for user benefits; but in this version, it’s even more pushed onto the player with my least favourite feature added, which is the daily gold and exp cap. The game perpetuates a need to pay over this hurdle in two ways: you can either buy the premium (which is $9.99/mo, overpriced for a game of this nature), or use gems that are given from time to time, or bought using the in-game store. And the game has no shortage of reminding you that there’s always the option to pay for a premium by annoying you with reward blockades that always offer a premium reward bonus even if you’ve completely refused to take the premium multiple times. Other than the obvious cash grab the game presents, it’s an average “guess the game” quiz that only has a few feature additions and UI changes from its previous iteration in SongPop 2. Some of the response times are rather slow, especially on rewards blockades and the song library. If there is something that I can appreciate about this game compared to the last, it’s that unnecessary notifications don’t flood my game... for now. That’s all I have to say about my experience.
my first experience with this company was seemingly a GaJillion years ago when songPop 2 was first released, and their little game called RockOn! was functional... that game was basically an individual journey climbing Up the Stairs to The Stars of Rock ‘n’ Roll... and boy was THAT a great game!! In those days the only two games I’ve ever played on my iPhone was QuizUp and RockOn!; as of today both of those games are gone. I recently started playing SongPop 2 again, and it’s OK... although I was really surprised at the push push push towards “premium” privilege and (more importantly) monthly subscription. So I probably should not be surprised at how completely obnoxious SongPop 3 is. It has NONE of the charm of SP2 or even of RockOn!; it’s simply a head-long ride into “pay us money!” “pay us money!” “pay us money!” “every month!” “every month!” “every month!” Frankly I have never said this in a review before however there’s a first time for everything: SKIP THIS APP COMPLETELY!! It is horrible and a waste of your time, unless you *like* being shamed and made to feel less-than because you haven’t yet upgraded... to a ridiculously priced monthly subscription. For a _game_. _ON_YOUR_PHONE_
I started out loving to play this game but over the last few months the response has been horrible to the point now where I really can barely play at all. I have tried both from my spectrum wi-fi and my AT&T cellular data basically the same on both. I click on chats and nothing. Sometimes I open the app and the vinyl just keeps doing its animation and the game never loads. Playing a tournament and the icons just soon and soon saying selecting playlist and it never does. Forgot opening the chat screen it rarely comes up. Also playing against and opponent sometimes after I have complete my turn the opponent shows up as still needing me to play, I click on the opponent and it comes up and say timed out on the last song and completes the game so I don’t get credit for answering the last song correctly which I in fact already had done. Oh and forget playing the lives, I gave up on those a few months ago. They really need to improve the performance of this game. So very disappointing especially since I am a plus member and pay
