Soda Dungeon 2 takes everything that made the original great and carbonates it. It’s the rare sequel that feels like a massive upgrade while keeping the 'laid-back' soul of the first game. The core loop of sending soda-fueled junkies into the Dark Lord's castle to bring back loot is as addictive as ever, but the new base-building and crafting systems add a level of progression that was missing before.
The standout feature is undoubtedly the 'Soda Script' system. Being able to program your team’s AI means you aren't just watching an idle game; you're engineering a perfect dungeon-running machine. The humor remains top-notch, with enemies like 'trumpeting skeletons' and 'angry chefs' keeping the mood light. It’s a generous, deep, and hilariously charming RPG that respects your time with its AFK battle credits. A perfect mobile RPG.
Custom AI via Soda Script
No timers, lives, or paywalls
Cross-platform save support
Deep crafting and base building
The Nurse is your most important early-game unit. Use Soda Script to ensure she heals allies whenever they drop below 50% HP to keep your run going longer.
Focus on upgrading your Kitchen early. It provides a permanent HP boost to all characters you hire, which is vital for surviving boss encounters.
Set up your team and let them run through the dungeon. Use Battle Credits earned while AFK to speed up your progress and collect loot.
No, everything in the game can be purchased with in-game currency earned through play.
You’d be hard-pressed to find a turn-based strategy game better than this one. The main thing that made me want to try this was first, the quirky humor and second, the promise of creating your own artificially-intelligent attack patterns (y’know, the auto-play mode that ruins every round you play in other games). I’ve gotta say, this game really is funny in all the way it should be, with it’s quirky pixel-puppets and it’s goofy banter. But don’t be fooled! It’s also really smartly made. You’ll play around with attack direction, armor loadouts, status effects, choosing your targets; all that stuff that makes Fandoms happen. And yes, most of it is experimental, but once you get a feel for it, you can adapt the auto-play to fit your attack style, the main gripe with which is that the instructions you give the computer aren’t exactly the kind you can immediately pick up unless you have coding experience. (There was a big learning curve for me.) But once you get the hang of it, it’s really impressive how much customization you can give the AI. I know I had a lot of fun playing the programmer, tweaking my patterns to my liking and watching the little characters smash the enemy to pieces. Bottom line: You’d be hard pressed to find a better turn-based strategy game than this one. It’s good. It’s REALLY good.
I really love this game and I also loved playing the first one but after only playing for one month I’m basically done I’m almost done with all the quests and achievements and all that would be left is to buy things that would take me years to Grind the money to get that wouldn’t really make that much of a difference also for some reason I’m not getting any more battle cards even tho I’m logged out, but that’s besides the point it’s a great game and I really love all the interactions with the dark lord because he’s funny and I would really like to see more stuff like that in maybe a future update or even a third game, I spend hours playing the game because it’s so good and all that’s left to say is that I love this game and despite’s there’s not a lot left to do I will probably still keep playing and to also say thank you to the people that made this game the way it is, thank you all for this great game and have an amazing day. Ps add more relics
But I do have some suggestions. I’m not sure any of these have been added yet, but if they haven’t, here they are! • A trading post, you don’t trade with other players because there isn’t a multiplayer feature yet, but with AIs. AIs would be wanting something for something else in return, like a quest but with items. • Adding to that, maybe you could add a popularity stat that could increase/decrease the chance of people coming? It could be gained by going further into the dungeons, trading [if you do add the trading feature] and how much trading requests you get [again, if If you do add the trading feature.] • Make monsters not have certain HP, but a small selection. Like for the rats, 2-4 HP. Small difference, but it makes more use of the HP seeing stone, and makes fights a little more better. This doesn’t include bosses because, they’re, well, bosses. [this may be a hard one, as you’d need to update your bestiary completely if you did add it, so I wouldn’t expect it to be added.] • And last but DEFIANTLY not least, once you defeat the final boss, and he goes away to a higher floor, you should face a different boss, a little weaker, but still capable of doing some damage, once you reach that floor. That makes it so getting to level 101 again doesn’t feel so...empty. Sorry for talking up a bunch of your time just by making you read this. Hope these suggestions at least help you with the newer updates.
Can’t say enough about how awesome thus game is. Every five star review totally justified. The fact of the matter is though it’s unplayable as currently designed because the app will “reset” if you minimize it, sometimes in seconds. Sometimes in minutes. Sometimes never. So in order to go through hundreds of levels you have to leave your device on, window active, for literally hours at a time. Now developers I realize this is an IOS and Apple... let’s say... feature. But it doesn’t happen with music apps. So either program the game to handle it or allow better active saving. So frustrating to have a game experience ruined because it is designed to the games own weakness. Did you happen to work on Neverwinter nights? Moving six characters though a dungeon single file. Yeah let’s develop maps that emphasize even more how awful the games one weakness is! Argh.
I don’t usually write reviews but I have to give credit where it’s due This game is extremely fun, and very successful with its auto battling use. The difficulty progression is well balanced where you might be over powered enough to skip a 100 levels or so but losing your top tier gear to progress the story is used well to rebalance you each dimension. Most characters are each useful in a unique way ( I havnt found much use for mystic yet honestly) and gain abilities as they level up so strategy’s are always evolving. Crazy improvement over the original soda dungeon which was also a hit for me. Love the bits of dialogue, it’s not too much but it’s quippy and tight and manages to give the world some character without really slowing anything down. Not done with it, but already looking forward to future updates that add content. Oh and the music for the kitchen fight levels. Absolutely perfect. Great job guys
Soda Dungeon 2 is an app that I have been anticipating for a while now. However, as with all apps, I had my doubts. Usually remakes are simply adding one or two features and are created to steal money from users through ridiculous in app purchases. This is not the case with Soda Dungeon 2. Soda dungeon was a cult classic and Soda Dungeon takes that legacy and multiplies it 100 fold. Not only is the art, gameplay, and styles the same, but the creators managed to expand a simple concept into something that is multidimensional. If you have not played Soda Dungeon, jumping into Soda Dungeon 2 is completely fine, as the developers have taken the time to create this game for all audiences. This game is great due to its immense detail, from the pixel art to the new Ambush mechanics. Soda dungeon 2 certainty is not a disappointment, and deserves all of the hype.
I played the original soda dungeon a few years back, after looking at the game, I thought it looked cool, and gave it a download. What a great idea that was. The game had lots of content, the ability to remove ads with coins, with not much grinding, and it was an overall great time. When I heard about a sequel I was excited, but skeptical. Was this next game going to live up to its predecessor? So I downloaded this game when it came out, and on steam, played it a bit.. and I can say, this game for sure lives up to the hype! It adds new aspects and improves upon aspects of the previous game, and maintains the non-intrusive IAP, and the ability to remove adds with coins, permanently. So if you are looking for a fun game to play and your bored, definitely give this one a download!
It’s an okay game in my opinion however it doesn’t have the same feel or look as the original like the hit and crit sounds are so bland in this game while in the original when you hit a crit it was amazing the new mechanics are also really weird without needing to be and the music is the absolute worst aspect of the game in the original soda dungeon every area got different music and you could warp to any level at anytime after unlocking the wizard but in this you need to go to warrior level? But I digress it’s an okay game if it was the original and if the original soda dungeon was this game it would be a lot better however the mechanics of the game the music and the designs of this sequel are a bit lackluster compared to the original (I also say this with having over 300 hours in the original soda dungeon. But otherwise okay game not worthy of being considered a sequel though.
