Improved stability.
Don't get me wrong, this is a great, great game. Amazing graphics and plane selection. However, there are a few things I’d like to highlight. Firstly, there’s the problem of the campaign. I was honestly really disappointed with the campaign. If you loved it, that’s fine, but hear me out. You can’t call it a campaign just because they have the same characters. They were more like separate standalone missions. I wish it had a more flushed out story with more than ten missions. The next thing is the combat. When you fire your guns over the crosshairs, they auto lock so all you have to do is point your plane’s nose in the general direction. I wish it was more like War Wings where you actually had to line it up and aim as you fired. Lastly is plane control. When you slow down, you slow down very quickly. Depending on what your doing, it should have different levels of deceleration. Then there’s the maneuvers. The maneuvers could use a lot of work. They are very precise and don’t have that natural feel of the plane committing to and coming out of the maneuver. It’s like it’s on a rail so it doesn’t actually look right or natural when you do them. Again, I wish it was more like War Wings with the natural movements of the plane in the maneuvers. These are the reasons the game only gets three stars in my opinion. If you guys could fix this that would be incredible.
For any fan of the original Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders, this game is MUST HAVE! Atypical Games Presents an Exciting New Adventure that casts the player directly into the Fearsome, Treacherous Skies of World War 2! Improving heavily on its predecessor, this game contains improved graphics, smoother controls, each Machine Gun now has its own unique sound, and best of all, Hearing The Pilot Speak! With every downed enemy and alert to the Player or the Squad, the Pilot Talks in a deep, radioed voice that sounds so Cool! It’s so absolutely satisfying to shoot down an enemy Plane and you hear the Pilot remark, “Gottcha!” Try playing this game with headphones, or through the Speaker in your car...A real treat for the ears! The only downside I can say for this game...it’s Canpaign is just too darn short! I mean, there is definitely replay value with higher difficulties and new challenges to unlock, but I just wanted the adventure to be longer, didn’t like to see the fun end so soon! Other than that...this game is worth Every Penny! So Buckle Up and prepare yourself for a Gut-Busting Good Time!
I’ve had the honor and privilege to meet the guys from Atypical in SF a few times and they have won the apple design award for a reason. The talent and dedication to their games is inspiring. The negative reviews seem to be from players who simply are not good enough and feel like taking revenge or of a younger generation who feel that for the price of a cup of coffee you should still receive a lifetime warranty of updates. I myself feel that if you can make a game of art this stunning for less than 5 dollars it is a steal since the developers do have families to feed and I get hours and hours of pleasure. If you are at all interested in ww2 airplanes or in flying sims just get this game and enjoy the amazing graphics. Forget about the nonsensical teenage angst haters that have some growing up to do and join me and many others in an online game. I’d give it 10 stars if I could ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This game, to me anyways, is much better than SG SR 1. Pros: ——— Absolutely gorgeous graphics Decent campaign Great plane selection Free plane customization Not too challenging, but not too easy either Cons: ——— Graphics can drain battery pretty fast Campaign is only 10 missions Not a whole lot of players online, but there are some Historical accuracy for ships at Pearl Harbor is bad Planes appear larger at a distance, which can be disorienting. Please note a lot of these are just me nitpicking at all the little problems, it is a great game! Recommendations for future updates: ——— More missions would be nice, maybe some more for the USA like the battle of Midway or Normandy. (definitely would like more missions for the pacific theatre) I would like to see more planes in the future, maybe the Horton 229, Hellcat, PBY, or maybe even the legendary B-17 Flying Fortress! It would be nice if you could write the nickname of the plane on the nose of the plane, like the Memphis Belle or Old Crow. So, in conclusion, if you want more missions and less great graphics, go for the original. If you want amazing graphics more than missions, I’d definitely recommend this game. P.S. I was not paid by Atypical at all for this review. This is solely my opinion. Sorry for the long review, and thanks if you read the whole thing!
This is a complete renovation of Sky Gamblers Storm Raiders - and the newest and best of the Sky Gamblers series. This game hits it out of the park. Familiar to those who’ve played Atypical/Revo’s flight games before, this game will blow you away. The graphics, flight model, and synthetic worlds are fantastic. Not a sim, not an arcade game, this game balances these perfectly. Seriously, get this game. If you haven’t played Sky Gamblers games before, give it a chance - the controls take a bit of getting used to (use simulator controls) but you will catch on quickly. And play multiplayer - the old dogs of the Sky Gamblers world will give you a run for your money.
While I generally find most games way too easy, the same cannot be said about SR2?! The controls are real garbage, and despite the beautiful graphics it is very disappointing to play. Also the campaign is not really captivating as you play different characters and sides. I mean seriously gentlemen, all this graphic prowess is absolutely useless if the game itself plays clumsily! It seems like such a shame, because I cannot imagine that investing more time and effort into game controls and storyline is more difficult and resource intense than developing those beautiful graphics and sound? Also, are you aware that games should be tailored to the clumsy average players found in the App Store and not only the top 5%? So kudos to all those super excellent players out there, but I’m the first to admit that the game is way too difficult due to the wicked controls! In the end it boils down to a very frustrated game experience, and the lack of storyline does not really entice me to invest any more time into becoming better at it. My recommendation is to stay away from this game. Dear developer, please do take this review to heart and learn to improve for your next game (which undoubtedly will have awesome graphics).
I have played dogfighting games by Revo/Bandai Namco/Atypical since 2012, dating back to Rise of Glory. To date, despite the relatively weak graphics and lack of support, Rise of Glory was their best effort and the most magical. SGAS, SGSR began the decline and its been downhill ever since then. This game is woeful in comparison. While beautiful to look at, it’s playability is garbage. Atypical alienated their fan base so many times and wiped out a huge network of online pilots/squadrons from their earlier games when they abandoned the flying games. The only people who will give this game a thumbs up are the long-standing beta testers who play the games for free and enjoy their special standing with Atypical. I regret purchasing this game. What a disappointment. Never again, Atypical. I should have given it one star but I gave it two because it is a beautiful looking game.
I see that a lot of people say the controls are bad, honestly, I would recommend calibrating again if the controls feel bad, I don’t see too much of an issue I have seen much harder controls on similar games. Also, the game has much less pay 2 win than the original and better graphics as well as loadout customization. I do think that a problem is that planes can take way to many hits which sometimes is a bit boring. Overall this game is great and I strongly recommend it.
