SimplePhysics lets you design complex structures for everything from tree houses to ferris wheels and submarines. Using a sophisticated physics engine, the game simulates how your design will hold up under pressure. Use the blueprints editor to build quickly, and then watch the stress distribution—areas under strain turn red while stable areas stay green. To win, your design must be both strong and cheap. For extra fun, use the 'Finger Test' to push your creation to its limits, or use the slow-motion feature to watch realistic explosions destroy your failed designs in detail.

Our Expert Score

84/100

SimplePhysics is a brilliant marriage of engineering logic and pure, destructive fun. It captures the 'trial and error' spirit of construction perfectly—you're given a budget and a goal, and it's up to you to design a structure that doesn't collapse under its own weight. The blueprint editor is incredibly intuitive, making it easy to sketch out complex designs in seconds.

The real genius, however, is the stress-testing phase. Watching your bridge or treehouse turn bright red as it nears its breaking point is genuinely tense. And if it does fail? The physics engine provides a hilarious and educational look at exactly where your engineering went wrong. The addition of the 'Finger Test' and explosions adds a layer of sandbox play that keeps it from feeling like just another educational tool. It's a game that makes you think like an engineer while letting you play like a kid with a wrecking ball.

The Finger Test allows you to manually push, pull, and poke your design to see how it reacts to external forces before blowing it up.

Great Game!

It’s a great game! However, it's way too short, it needs more levels. It is amazing game based off of engineering with a challenging aspect which will get you hooked very quickly. It has good challenge scaling, each level gets harder but if you use your ideas from another build it is easier. The leaderboard makes me want to keep playing because I am very competitive, so that’s another added bonus. Overall, it’s a great game

Good game but needs more levels

I loved this game until I finished it then I just started playing SimpleRockets 2 which by the way anyone who is reading this you should totally download SimpleRockets 2 for only $6.99 But let’s get back on track it needs a lot more levels like at least five to like 20 more levels seriously make more levels to this game jundroo please I need more levels.

Terrific engineering fun!

Got my 6 year old hooked — that’s worth the price of admission right there! This includes 12 different building challenges with increasing difficulty. Learn how to transfer stress, distribute loads, and handle jerks (yes, the technical term for change in acceleration over time). Once you come up with a solution, try to build it under budget! Love this game. Like others I want for more. That said, there is a rich amount of play in the trimming to absolute minimum required to pass the tests. Requires a bit of tenacity/obsession to unlock that aspect of the game. Well worth the money, IMO.

Great game, challenging puzzles

I’ve played this game since the initial release. My daughter plays it quite a bit now, too. Always trying to beat my scores. The leaderboards seem to be gone, now, though. Would love to see more levels added (even if it was a paid add-on)! *Please bring back the high scores!

Makes you think

Find me a game that makes you think. Finally a game that makes you use your brain. It’s unlike those mindless games that are good if you only have two brain cells left.

Great game

Have the game through 3 phones now. Love it! Great way to kill time, think of new designs. I now have my kids trying to play & think of ways how to build structures.

As a mechanical engineer, I enjoy relaxing with this game. The FEA view is great to help minimize stress. More levels would be great, but I still enjoy reducing old answers to reduce cost of my structures.

Makes a mockery of physics simulation

Exactly identical drawings can perform completely differently depending on the mere order in which individual members are drawn, despite being otherwise perfect duplicates. In addition, if you search online for a 3-star solution to the truck crane, you’ll find that a 3-star rating can be gained by the most ridiculous design you’ll ever see.
