Our Expert Score

84/100

Onnect: Pair Matching Puzzle is a quintessential brain-trainer that excels through its simplicity and polish. While the 'Onet' style matching genre is crowded, Onnect stands out with its clean presentation and a massive volume of levels. The core challenge—connecting matching tiles with a path of no more than two turns—starts as a relaxing exercise but quickly evolves into a complex logic puzzle as the layouts become more intricate.

What I appreciate most is the cognitive benefit; it really does force you to sharpen your visual perception and pattern recognition. The absence of heavy time pressure in the standard modes makes it a perfect 'coffee break' game, though the limited moves in higher levels keep it from being mindless. With thousands of levels and beautiful tile designs, it’s a reliable, high-quality puzzler that provides a satisfying mental workout without any unnecessary friction.

Actually calming (or exciting, depending on how you play) game. Maybe a bit addicting (not sure why people think thats a good thing). Pretty much everything people complain about has a good option for. Dont like the timer? You can disable it. Pictures get hard to distinguish? You can swap the picture set at any time. Dont like the ads? You absolutely do not have to monthly subscribe to remove them — theres a button in settings that allows you to permanently disable ads for a one time price for like two bucks. Theres no options for bombs but i like them cause they keep you strategizing and i like the time pressure. If you dont like them, theyre not that frequent and its easy to remove them with shuffles, which you can also earn very easy. I like the variety of levels. Its nice going from a super hard, dense board to an easy one as a break. But it does get repetitive. Maybe i will get bored someday but right now the simplicity is a major plus, especially compared to all the other cheap puzzlers out there (no i dont want a garden or a quest board or a lengthy tutorial in every single game, crazy right?). Also the sountrack is beautiful (an additional track would be nice tho, as well as more sound effect volume control) and the art reminds me of I Spy books. Fav puzzler so far.

This game is great! It’s challenging, but not so that it is impossible. My one and only gripe ( which will probably cause me to delete this game) is the ADs. If the level is easy, you will see an AD after every 1-2 minutes. If the level is hard, it might be 3-5 minutes before the next ad. If the level is extra hard, after 5-7 minutes, the level times out and then AD. If you beat the level........AD. I just timed my play, and it went like this: 1 minute of play/30 second AD. 1 min. 15 seconds play/30 se. AD. 40 sec. play/5 sec. AD. 60 sec. play/30 sec. AD 4 min. play/5 sec. AD 1 min. 30 sec. play/30 sec. AD. The game does randomly skip to the next level without an AD but those times are very rare. Pretty much at the beginning of the game(level 1-4, and then very rare from then on out. I understand why there is ads, but, for 8 minutes of playing time, I sat through 2 minutes and 10 seconds of 5-30 second ADs. Ridiculous. If it was my app, I would make it so that when you clear the level , there is a 5 sec. ad..If the level is cleared in one attempt, no ad. If the level times out before you are finished, 30 sec. ad. The way it’s done now, the annoyance of the ads outweighs the pleasure of the game. And 9.49monthly or 3.49 weekly, in my opinion is way too much. Just my opinion. P.S. Interactive ads would be better.

Boring

I don’t like it. The puzzles are fun when they stay still and have more straight forward images but the ones that have meticulous detail that’s smaller and runs along the same color lines I hate. They also move and shuffle every time you make a play so you can’t remember anything or get multiple pairs in a row. If you find two images side by side and you’ve spotted another one as well, as soon as you pick the first pair the other ones will move and separate from being another set. This guarantees that you have to watch ads for more and more playing time, because the time won’t be enough to complete it in one go because things move so much, which for me takes away from the fun. I also think the game is unfair with the distance that it will accept. Meaning if u see a pair that has a straight path with nothing blocking it, sometimes it won’t let you choose it as a set and I’m assuming it feels it’s too far which can be annoying especially when you turn around and use a hint after not being able to find a pair and it shows you a similar choice that is also far with no blockage? I don’t understand how it gages it’s pairs at times. I mean it’s ok, may keep middle age to older people entertained but there are way better strategy and puzzle games out there.

Too many glitches

Well, I like this game most of the time and play way too much. When I first started playing there were far less ads. Now it’s a different system where you accumulate tools much slower and watch more ads. And the ads are often multi-part so you have to click next a few time which is pretty annoying. I think the subscription costs are way too high for such a simple game. But my bigger complaint is the bugs in the app. I’m playing this on an iPad Pro. It worked fine for months, but recently it will freeze up in the middle of the game or during an ad, then I have to close and reopen the app (just going to Home Screen and back doesn’t work), and I lose my progress in the puzzle but not the number of tools I’ve used. Basically using up tools and then having to restart the puzzle. Now it’s doing a thing where I need to play an ad to continue, and then the whole screen shifts, like the picture is translated down and to the left on the iPad. So I can’t see the whole puzzle. I’ve updated the iPad and the app, and restarted both. I think I’ll just find another app.

3 Days ago would’ve been 5 stars

I have spent hours upon hours upon hours (even when I was hospitalized) playing this game because I enjoyed it so much. But two days ago they decided to change it up and add some stupid virtual “chess” that you have to gain so many points after playing 4-5 puzzles to earn specific tools that you used to earn after each puzzle. (Now it’s 2 tools max if you watch ads) Unless they go back to their prior set up, this is nothing but a waste of my time. I was fine with the amount of ads they had before since I cannot afford membership, it was balanced and made sense, but now?? Keep your ads - I’m out. (I’ll check back from time to time to see if you really listen to your users or just don’t care) I’ve been playing for over a year now. Get rid of the chest! Before the so-called “upgrade” The game was challenging because of 1) ticking timer bombs to beat; 2) if you did survive the timer bombs, but ran out of time, you’d get an ad, fair; 3) depending on how big a puzzle and how fast you could finish it, you would get a higher ‘reward’ of tools, so I would be challenging myself at the same time to see if I was able to get 3, 4, or sometimes 5 magnifying glasses based on time left multiplied by my score. My goal was trying to get 6. That personal challenge has now all been removed now you have that “chest” of ads. REMOVE THE CHEST - GO BACK TO WHAT WASN’T BROKEN!! Please 😔

Bad update

I’ve been playing this game for years, and I really like it. I paid for ad free play a while ago and think it was a good value. You only have to watch ads to extend puzzle time. But I do not like the newest update. You can no longer use gems to extend puzzle time (being forced to watch an ad instead), and it seems the puzzle time extensions are much shorter than they used to be, forcing you to watch more ads. I have a ton of gems and wish they’d let you use them again. They literally cannot be used for anything else. Game is even worse with newest update (10/1). Like others i lost my boosters. I’ve been playing for years, can’t use my 50,000 gems for anything and now have no boosters. I’m on level 3504 and everything I’ve earned is gone. I eventually got my boosters back after last update, but they disappeared again with the newest update. Not only did they all disappear, but any new ones I earn disappear every time I play. So I’ll earn five new hints, or whatever, and next time I play I’ll be back down to he default two. I don’t know why this is something they can’t manage. Maybe it’s a cash grab? I dunno, but I think I’m done. It’s just too frustrating. And like others have mentioned, updates just bring disappointment, not anything actually new or interesting.

Bombs & no time limit, diamonds?

I like playing. I have 3 issues. 1-I’m not asking for access to all the themes. I would like to turn off/on the ones I do have access to though. The buttons to do so are not locked. Yet, when I try to turn one off, it takes me to the screen for the weekly/monthly deal. Some themes even show a little crown as the on/off switch, designating those are the premium access. Fine, but I want to access the ones that are shown as open/useable to me. 2-Same as others’ complaints- it does an auto shuffle with available pairs still showing. Tolerable, but not fair. 3-It gives me the option to not use a timer. I have this on so I can relax & not feel rushed. Yet, so many times it adds a bomb! What do you think a bomb is?! Another version of a timer! If you don’t match the bomb to get rid of it or pass it on again to the next pic, it ends the game! Then you either start over or watch a video to continue without a bomb. I’ve had 1 bomb, & up to 5 bombs in one game! It’s hypocritical to allow me to choose no timer, but still make me use a bomb! And I can’t get rid of them unless I match or wait for it to blow up & watch a video. Also, what are the diamonds for? I have thousands of diamonds and nothing to use them on. ??

Used to be relaxing, then they changed it.

I played this game all the time as a free game. I liked it so much that I purchased it, so that I wouldn’t have to wait for ads or purchase anything, such as coins, etc. I was also able to play this game at either end of my iPad - in other words, I could rotate my device and the game would spin and correct to the same orientation. I enjoyed this because I could charge while playing without ruining my cable. But all that has suddenly gone away. If I wanted to simply let a bomb run out, I could use a diffuser that I had collected by playing and winning rounds. Now, I have to watch an ad to continue - even though I PURCHASE the game, or I have to start the game over. I had given this game 5 stars in the past. I can now only play with the device on one side and, of course, it’s the most inconvenient side. Frankly, you’re lucky you got an overrated 2 stars out of me. I am highly disappointed. Also, as a side note; I had to delete and reinstall the app because I was having crash issues after an OS update. When I finished, I lost all my progress and was reset to the first level. Not only was I highly irritated, I was kind of mad.
