Oberty is a masterclass in minimalist puzzle design. The core concept revolves around the XOR (Exclusive OR) logic of overlapping geometric shapes. When two shapes overlap, the intersecting area disappears, creating a new silhouette that you must match to a target goal. It sounds simple, but the mental gymnastics required for the later levels are intense. It’s one of those rare games that makes you feel like a genius when you finally 'see' the solution.
The presentation is flawless—crisp lines, a soothing color palette, and a complete lack of intrusive ads or timers. It’s a pure, meditative experience. While the difficulty curve can occasionally feel like a brick wall, the lack of pressure allows you to experiment freely. For fans of games like 'LYNE' or 'KAMI,' Oberty is an essential addition to your library. It’s a polished, premium-feeling app that respects the player's intelligence.
Unique XOR-based puzzle mechanics
Over 120 challenging levels
Beautiful minimalist art style
No ads or in-app purchases
Relaxing atmospheric soundtrack
The key to Oberty is remembering that 'Black + Black = White.' If you need a hole in the middle of a square, you must place another identical shape directly over it. Work backward from the goal silhouette to identify which base shapes are hidden within it.
Later levels introduce rotation. Always look at the angles of the goal image; often, the solution requires a shape to be placed at a 45-degree offset to create the sharp points needed for the final form.
Oberty encourages experimentation; there is no explicit hint system, but you can undo and redo moves infinitely to find the solution.
This is a great game! It’s simple yet so challenging! There are no hints or ability to skip levels if you get stuck, so it can be frustrating, but it’s so satisfying when you get it. My only issue is there is NO instructions on how to make your own levels, which is too bad because it is not intuitive and seems like it could be fun.
I am really enjoying this game! Really interesting and calming puzzles. Only complaint is that progress doesn't seem to sync across iPhone and iPad.

Oberty, a minimalist puzzle game by Odesa-based Dmytro Denys, is now available on Steam and the Apple App Store.
