This version provides a new, updated UI that adjusts to fit whatever device the game is running on. Adds a better way to tie the murder weapon to the murderer as one of the following: By interviewing witnesses, by the location of a suspect or by the room a suspect was staying in.
Murdered by Midnight is a stylish social deduction game that brings the 'whodunit' thrill to mobile with a distinct noir flair. Unlike many games in the genre that can feel chaotic, this one prioritizes the gathering of evidence and logical reasoning. Playing as either a guest or the killer, you’re forced to balance your public persona with your private objectives. The atmosphere is top-notch, with a visual style that feels like a classic mystery novel come to life.
The gameplay loop is satisfying, though it heavily relies on having a communicative group of players. When the table talk is active, the tension is palpable as midnight approaches and the body count rises. The various roles add a layer of replayability that keeps the 'house party' from getting stale. It’s a great pick for groups of friends looking for a digital game night option that’s a bit more sophisticated than the average party game.
Online multiplayer for 6-8 players
Diverse character roles with unique abilities
Interactive clue-gathering system
Built-in voice and text chat
Move from room to room to find physical evidence. Share your findings with others to build a case, but be careful—the killer can lie about what they've seen.
The game progresses through rounds. Use the discussion phase to interrogate players. If you're the killer, use the 'darkness' events to strike unseen.
Murdered by Midnight is designed as a multiplayer experience and requires an internet connection to play with others.
First off, this is a wonderful game and very well implemented. If you like Clue, you’ll like this. The app runs smoothly and the interface is pretty easy to use. As a bonus, one purchase opens the game on all devices, including Apple TV and Mac! Also, the Apple TV app doesn’t require a controller. I have one, but sometimes it’s just easier to keep playing with the remote you use for the TV. Now there are some minor issues that I’m sure can be worked out. First, the text is microscopic. Not just on the phone, it is difficult on a 55” TV, and even on a 13” MacBook Pro. Once you get to know the characters, however, you don’t need to read as much. Secondly, the touch zones are a little off. It took me many tries to open my notebook rather than the map. Finally, the narration sounds like a 10 year old speech to text program with an Australian accent. It’s actually kinda funny and you can turn it off if you hate it. Overall, it is still well worth the purchase price!
If I could give this half a star I would. I looked at this game several times and thought why not. Surely by now they've addressed these issues that other reviewers/players have brought up...... BIG NOPE! The text is microscopic and impossible to read on an iphone. The touch zones on the notebook and the map have not been resolved. Such a shame. I really was looking forward to playing this Clue like variant but instead ended up returning it -- even if it only cost me less than a buck. I'd rather put those 99 cents towards a developer more attentive on delivering reliable playthrough on their games. You waste people's time with stuff like this.
Tried to play this with family on multiplayer mode but it did not send the invite to anyone. We were all connected to wifi with our Bluetooth on and nothing worked. You can only play single player mode.
