Monster Truck Soccer is exactly what it sounds like, and that’s both its strength and its weakness. It’s a chaotic, 2D physics game where you drive a monster truck to hit a giant soccer ball into a goal. The physics are 'floaty' and unpredictable, which leads to some hilarious moments where you accidentally flip over or launch the ball into orbit.
It’s clearly meant for short sessions. There isn't much depth beyond the initial concept, but the variety of trucks and simple tournament modes provide enough entertainment for a quick distraction. The graphics are simple and bright, and the controls are limited to just forward, backward, and jump. It’s basically 'Rocket League' for the casual mobile crowd, simplified to the extreme. Fun for a few minutes, but lacks the staying power of more complex titles.
Wacky physics-based gameplay
Multiple unlockable monster trucks
Simple two-button controls
Tournament and Quick Match modes
Fun, arcade-style sound effects
Timing your jump right as you hit the ball will give it a massive speed boost. Use this to 'lob' the ball over your opponent's head when they are playing too far forward.
Face off against the AI or a friend. The first person to reach the target score wins the match and moves on in the tournament.
No, it currently only supports single-player against AI or local 2-player mode on the same device.
Super fun game. Bought for Apple TV. Doesn’t work with controller as advertised. I have PS5 controller and it will accelerate and reverse but not steer. Sad. Wish it also had local split screen versus mode with two controllers. Would be worth 2-3x cost if corrected. Otherwise wasted money.
