Merge Kingdoms is a polished and colorful take on the 'merge-to-build' genre. It manages to balance the simple satisfaction of merging items with a broader sense of progression and discovery. Unlocking new areas of the map by discovering high-tier items provides a great sense of accomplishment that keeps you engaged for long sessions.

The character designs are charming, and the world is filled with interesting lore and mini-objectives that prevent the merging from feeling like a chore. While it does follow many of the standard 'energy-based' tropes of the genre, the rate of item discovery and the variety of things you can build make it feel more rewarding than many of its competitors.
