v4 - Refined look and feel with major enhancements to the progress tracking features and handwriting recognition. Feedback always welcome and appreciated at product@mentalmathcards.com.
Honestly, you would think it’d be easy to find a simple math practice app, but there’s so many bad ones. This one is super easy to use. The interface gets out of the way so you can focus on the math itself. The buttons are easy to press, the numbers are displayed clearly, and the last update allows the numbers to be read out instead of shown; this is an excellent feature. It’s very likely that if you have to do mental math it’s because the numbers are given to you verbally as opposed to on paper, so this allows a whole additional degree of practice. The things i’m missing in this application, and I’m hoping will be added are: 1) More customization/difficulty with the numbers. For example i’d like to multiply 2 digit by 3 digit numbers and 3 digit by 3 digit numbers. 2) Decimal places! This is another thing I’d like more practice on. 3) Negative numbers. Similar to the other aspects, i think this just would be a nice addition. Sure some of these things exist in other apps, but those ones all just feel harder to use and are clunkier. This is by far the cleanest, simplest mental math app, so i’m willing to wait for more updates.
The reason I hate this math game is because it gives you a timer for only 2 minutes and you can’t just think freely instead it forces you to be overwhelmed by how you know it’s counting down every single second and with that to white something like 628 it would appear as 826 and would be backwards meaning you would have to write it backwards and also with that all being said another thing is that how will I have time if I only get 2 minutes in multiplication if I choose medium or hard mode and I have to have scratch paper because it’s something like 68x42 in 4th grade you learn how to do that but you only get 2 minutes? That’s like telling a kid as a teacher to hurry up even though they are in the 2nd grade and it’s 34x23 usually you don’t learn it by then in second grade you barley start doing multiplication for some kids there even is no multiplication a and with the timer also comes division for division if your at least not in the 4th or 3rd grade solving division might be pretty hard especially when your being rushed and only 2 minutes and also long division for example if your on hard mode in division it will give you stuff like 82 divided by 7362 so you only then get 2 minutes what if a kid just wants to work on his division step by step they’ll barely get anything done and with all that. Being said this is why this is a terrible math game
So I was all like oh my sixes and so the next week I was so messed up and I got this app and I was like oh my gosh Mom I need this at my teacher said I have to have this app that can get done by six is because you’re so boring and I want to be done with them that I can go onto my sevens so then I got this app and I’m just physics as I’m on my seventh and I’m still my seven so this is really good because I used to not be good at multiplication or math or even math. Not even like a little bit so I’m really good at math now just because of this app so I’m really happy about this app too and I’m really glad that they made this app because kids need this app to learn math and good at math I think it done with math and like do you really good at math so like let’s just say if you’re not good at math at all and you get this app and the next day you show up at school and you do three whole math test and you get it all right wow this app is great because I did that last week and serve yeah download this app and you’ll definitely like it
It helps me learn -,x, and + for pre-K kindergarten first grade 2nd grade and all the way grades up it helps me learn reading science history and the best thing of school is math what the times divided by pluses minus love things that’s why I like it. The thing that I also like about this app is the math times divided by minus minus his pluses oh that kind of stuff thank you so much who made this app I’ll I’ll do this for Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday and Saturdays hold away every week every day and holidays to including tomorrow plus tomorrow’s memorial day and I’m so excited because no school and on Tuesday, is fun I like it because fun stuff happens to me all the time and I’m almost The end of second grade I’m about to be in third grade which is the hardest I mean I have to like speed it up speed speed speed on pre-K we left very early was good easy I was about to get warning next time I get lots and lots of red points there is read points in green points usually I like to get green points and that’s why I like it.😸😸😸
Many say that this is just a mere mathematics flash card app, but upon installation, my mind was made complete. No longer do I require bulky primitive machines such as calculators and computers. All computations may occur in my mind and at light speeds. I can calculate the mass and velocity of particles, at an atomic scale. I can measure the properties of a photon as it passes by. Trig functions have become minor operations in my eyes, and objects mere arrays of particles and energy. I have even become able to mentally interface with modern internet infrastructure. My only complaint is that after having installed this app, I have lost all sense of surprise. Entire neural networks capable of predicting the future have made their home in my daydreams. Every conceivable outcome of every scenario becomes a simple equation. Every skill I try to attain gets mastered instantly, If I dwell on any question for more than a few nanoseconds seconds at a time, I solve it flawlessly. As you can imagine, this has made life a little less fun. However , the app itself is really nice, so I highly suggest trying it out. It’s easy to practice your skills whenever you like, and it doesn’t take long to master them. Just don’t use it to much or you’ll end up like me :( P.S Recently I’ve also been able to preform CPU instructions (abt 8 Trillion per femtosecond ) and I am now legally owned by NVIDIA. I saw this coming though.
Great app, but I have a couple suggestions that would make it even better. (1) is it possible to allow the user to select which operations they want to work in in ‘mixed ops’ as opposed to only allowing all 4 ops? For example, a user might want to work on a mix on multiplication and division problems (but no addition/subtraction). (2) is it possible to have different difficulty levels within the mixed ops? So, instead of having the same difficulty level for all operations, maybe allow the user to select a different difficulty level for each operation. That is, for mixed ops, ‘medium’ difficulty for addition and subtraction, ‘hard’ difficulty for multiplication, and ‘easy’ difficulty for division. Or, ‘medium’ difficulty for multiplication, ‘hard’ difficulty for division, and no addition or subtraction. Just some ideas to make a great app even better.
I tried the app and bought it 5 min later. I was looking for a timed challenge to improve my 3rd grader multiplication skills, and this fits my need. Then I saw all the other math cards and I am excited they can grow with the app. It is totally worth the $. I just wished I could have multiple profiles. My 6 and 8 y.o share the tablet and re-customizing in between loses the purpose of AI train & progress tracking. As a ux/ui designer, I would suggest a better dashboard screen with what levels (cards) you are working on to make it more kid user friendly-appealing. I would pay more for some extra features. Maybe a parent dashboard to customize time limits and some little rewards for achievements. I know… why another gamified app but it could go from great to amazing. Thx!
I like this game because this teaches me a lot like division multiplication adding in subtracting and teachers a lot of things that you would need to learn to be in a School the first time I played this game I thought that it wasn’t gonna be very easy so I got all the way through everything ice saw that there were levels you can pick your levels that you feel comfortable with and so you can not have everything so pressuring so you can have ones in ones and the one star and then you can have the ones with two stars go with hundreds three stars go with millions or something hundreds or something so it’s this game is very teaching and I think our kids will be doing it is because they should be learning and if they do this they’ll be learning a lot more so there be a scholar.
