MementoMori: AFKRPG is a breathtaking achievement in mobile aesthetics. Describing it simply as an 'AFK RPG' doesn't do justice to its presentation; the game is essentially a living watercolor painting accompanied by a world-class soundtrack. Every character (Lament) has her own dedicated song performed by professional vocalists, which creates an emotional resonance rarely found in gacha games. The story, centered around 'witches' who are persecuted but ultimately serve as the world's only hope, is told with a somber, poetic tone that perfectly matches the visuals.
Mechanically, the game respects your time. The AFK systems are generous, allowing you to progress and power up your team even when you aren't actively playing. Combat is strategic and automated, focusing on team composition and the synergy between different character types. While the gameplay loop is familiar to fans of the genre, the sheer artistic polish makes every minute spent in the game feel special. It’s an experience designed for those who appreciate high-quality art and music as much as tactical character building.
Breathtaking watercolor-style 2D art
Original soundtrack with a song for every hero
Effortless AFK progression system
Deep tactical character customization
Emotional and poetic narrative
Focus on the synergy between character elements. Each witch has a specific role, and matching their elemental types can provide massive stat boosts for the entire party.
Listen to the dedicated songs for each character in the menu. These aren't just for atmosphere; they are the heart of the game's storytelling and character development.
Its exceptional art style and the fact that every character has a fully produced song ('Lament') performed by top artists.
That’s what this game is doing. Listen, man: I got excited on the SETTINGS MENU. SETTINGS. GOT ME EXCITED. Listen, man, I play a LOT of idle games, and I’ve played a few afkrpgs in my time. This one, this one is the best. My sole complaint is that it isn’t available on PC. I need it on more devices. That way, I can consistently play with sound: and I won’t play without sound, that would simply be disrespectful to the game and it’s undoubtedly HUGE music budget. The music is probably the best part. Anyway, any game good enough to get me to write a review is worth getting, and definitely worth this 5 stars. PS: Yeah, micro transactions are in the game. You want EVERY character, but don’t got time to grind (though it probably won’t feel like grinding), you might need to spend. But each character has so much going on, you don’t need many to do good and distract yourself with their stories. Edit: After a while, I just can’t bring myself to play this game again. The characters, the world, the stories? They are too good. They deserve better than a gacha game. Make this something big. I’d absolutely purchase a story based game with these characters, in this world. Even for the full big box $60, long as it was done right. This world you made deserves better. And make sure you use the same sound team. They did wonderful.
this is my first time writing a review for a game, but i feel like i have to in this case, since i’m absolutely OBSESSED with this game and it deserves way more love and a bigger community. first things first; the art is absolutely GORGEOUS, every girl has her own song (and they’re all absolutely amazing) and the battles are beautifully animated. the girls are all lovely and interesting, so if you’re a homo like me you’ll love it. my personal faves are cordie, natasha, fortina and iris!! :) the battle system is very very chill, you basically just make a team (level them up + equip weapons and armor + make them stronger in general) and let them do their thing. they’ll also battle even when you aren’t playing, so exp and items will always be waiting for you when you log in!!! additionally, you can speed the battles up a lot and even skip them, so it’s great if you just want some mindless slaughter/grinding. so far the story is interesting, especially the character side stories, and i feel like it’s very wellwritten and poetic. i feel like i’m praising it a whole bunch lol, it’s not for everyone, but if you just want a chill, generous gacha games with some charming ladies and gorgeous artwork, it’s definitely for you. give it a go!!!!
I love this game! It’s what I wake up for unless I forget about it but so wish there were more characters, preferably more men. Not that it’s bad to have female characters but it’s only female characters! Me and my LESBIAN friend agree that most of the women are not very attractive because the bodies are overly sexualized, even the minors. They used me as an example because I have developed some upper parts and they said that unless the clothes is actually tight or it’s not the right size/intentionally the wrong size, the upper area shouldn’t rlly be so so soooo visible to the point where most of the skin is just barely poking out. Enough of the characters, let’s talk about gameplay. Don’t get me wrong. I like it a lot! But I feel like there’s not much to do unless you pay diamonds or your characters are strong enough. BP is 1,000,000 point higher than your enemy? You could still lose, same with 2,000,000 more! And you can’t even level your characters up unless you get the orbs and stuff. I have enough of the green ones but it’s so hard to get the red/orange ones! You have to use diamonds or things that are daily things that you have to pay for if you wanna use again. I feel like this game wants you to pay with actually money than play the game. Without those materials, you can’t do much. Overall. It’s pretty boring. Especially if you can’t get past certain levels, tower levels and have already beaten/died to the space-time thing.
Hear me out, this game (at the start) there’s a lot to do, battling, gacha, story, but as you get into the later stages of the game it starts to get boring with not much to do and little motivation to do battles or anything because there all pretty much the same, auto battles are a feature in this game, and it can be good or bad, like I said it’s pretty much the same thing over and over again with auto battles. Gacha in this game is probably the thing that got people to play the game, but the gacha in this game so bad I don’t bother pulling even when I have lots stuff. You only end up logging in once a day for like 5 mins then leaving. Now that we got the bad stuff out of the way lemme talk about the good stuff! The character designs are unique and beautiful as well as cute. The art style in this game is what got me to play, it’s unique I’ve never seen any art style like it and it’s really good for any artists who want to study or find a new art style to look at and copy the things they like. The music in this game is a vibe, each character has their own song you can listen too. That’s all for right now, so do I recommend playing? I’d say it’s a game for those who like characters, music, art, and not so much playing like a casual gamer i guess. But if you like fun and interesting and entertaining games then this one isn’t for you.
Seriously I don’t write reviews, even for the games I’ve been playing for a few years. But just after two days of playing this beautiful game I made the decision to leave my very first review. The artistic direction the developers went with this game is just amazing, the story is great, although I recommend keeping a box of tissues handy, the characters have their own backstories and they can and will tug at those heart strings! Also each character in the game is unique in their own way with their own amazing song that goes with them. This is a first where I actually care about the characters that’s how well this game is done! You can tell right off the rip that the devs love this game and they put a lot of heart into this. I’ll continue to play and open my wallet for this game and support it for as long as they keep it going! 🙏 you all have a 5 star 10/10 rating in my book! Also one last note! I’d give this a higher rating if I could, this game deserves to have more recognition and should be advertised more! Just download it and play it! You’ll soon fall in love with this game as I have!
If the Kemono Friends mobile game can have a successful anime adaptation, there's no reason for Memento Mori to ignored. All of its strengths are non-gameplay related: the art, music, characters, and dark fantasy elements are all there. The only thing missing is a comprehensive story that can be written by anyone with enough credentials (my vote goes to Gen Urobuchi of Thunderbolt Fantasy and Madoka Magica fame.) Funny enough, it's biggest weaknesses are actually gameplay related. The game autoplays every single battle, and you need to roll the gacha not just for rare waifus, but to raise their level cap as well. The truth is you will need A LOT of the less rare waifus - the ones with a maximum rarity of a purple border around them - to awaken them up to said rarity. Then you essentially feed them to your rarest waifus of the same soul type, who at max rarity get a black border. If you remain free to play, your progress will be painfully slow. Go at your own pace at first, then decide if you like it enough whether to spend money or not. I'm no whale, but the reason why I've dumped a fair amount into Memento Mori isn't just because I want to keep up with other players in my guild, it's also because I want to keep supporting this beautiful game with so much potential for an anime.
I’ve never written an app review. This comes from a person that has tried over a thousand games in the past two years. The artwork and voice acting in this game alone is worth playing. I will have to say, it needs more playable content, but this will pull you in, pull at your heart strings, and have you looking at your life in a different light. I’ve been in a depressive state for a while, and this has had me in tears in a good way. Please give this game a shot and support this developer. Just like any gatcha game, I wouldn’t call it f2p, stop expecting that, it’s just ignorant. Either grind, or get over it. Tips for the developer, add some more combat visuals please. Also, some more modes would be appreciated. Research on afk rpg games will be your best friend. The tower mode is great, other modes similar would be the cherry on top. Maybe even consider some dungeon crawling. Personally for this, I wouldn’t mind a 2d visual for a dungeon mode with 3D cut scenes. Overall tho, amazing start and I can truly see the amount of work put in here. Best game I have tried all year visually, including pc games.
This game is GOOD. Don’t get me wrong, it is definitely a pay to win game, with overall little to no user engagement in the play through itself. Pretty much all the fights i just skip through with little to no attention just waiting for the outcome BUT despite all this, it is still a very enjoyable game. The character designs are splendid, you can tell they put time and effort into the art direction of the game and the music is also great. The dailies are easy to do and pulls are generally easy to obtain. Progression in the game stagnates after awhile and gives you a reason to upgrade your characters and gear. Of course, this benefits whales more since they have the means to easily upgrade their characters but even as a free to play i don’t mind grinding a week or two to clear a level/floor. Maybe that’s because i play on and off though. But i feel like that’s the best way to approach the game. A chill game where you get on every couple days in your downtime and clear content. No twenty minutes to clear dailies or constant domain clearing for artifacts and rolls. Just a chill game with beautiful art and music. Love it.
