Our Expert Score

87/100

MathTango is simply the gold standard for educational apps. It manages to do what so many fail at: making math practice feel like an actual video game. My kids don't even realize they're doing hundreds of addition and multiplication problems because they're so focused on collecting 'Tangos' and building their islands.

The progression system is brilliant. It uses a 'mission' format that keeps the child moving forward, and the curriculum adapts perfectly to their skill level. If they struggle, the app provides gentle hints; if they breeze through, it ramps up the challenge. The art style is quirky and high-quality, and the lack of third-party ads means I can hand the iPad over without any worries. It’s an investment in their education that pays off in genuine smiles.

Love it but

OK so I love you to pieces. It’s really fun and I think every kid would enjoy it but one thing is is that sometimes the missions could be like a little bit too reactive and the fake prices they’re just like so high And you don’t have to spend any real money but they’re having to do problems in order to get some coins and everything is round thousand dollars and they probably get like at least $200 per puzzle so yeah love it but probably not the best for every kid especially ones with anger issues.

So many memories!

I played this game when I was, what, six? And it’s so nice to just play it for fun again, even if I’m too old for it. I do just have one thing that has been some trouble…when you get the blasting robot in the space-multiplication/division game, I can’t remove the second pile of space junk. It just glitches or something, ‘cause I push it (the pile of space junk) and…nothing happens. So, I don’t know, but still, it’s a great game! 🩷 There is one glitch though; on the “Spruce up the Starbase” quest, on the very last task, I am supposed to “Increase Starbase energy to 100%”, but the energy never goes down anymore. I’ve tried everything, and it’s been weeks, but the energy is just up to 100% forever. Could you help with that? Thank you! ☺️

It’s the best, but there’s something really funny from Ellie

So he talks a lot, but I would like to play the game even though he talks a lot. He’s like blah blah blah lol and it’s funny but I love this game and I have fine monsters even though I just started yesterday and I love playing the puzzles and doing all the missions it’s so much fun And you should definitely get this so I suggest you get this if you want to learn and have a challenge. It’s the best for challenges and learning.

Strong number sense!

We have subscribed for several years and it’s worth every penny! The monster dance party breaks are the perfect reinforcement to encourage my daughter to keep going. Math Tango is designed so thoughtfully and has really strong mathmatical methods to move her 2 grades above her age! This publisher has really demonstrated through all of their apps that quality does not have to come at the expense of fun.

This game is really awesome! I know I am past the age that is recommended for this game but I struggle with math so this has really helped me! Parents if you are thinking about downloading this game for your child please do so! The objective of the game is to complete math puzzles and unlock monsters! (They’re friendly don’t worry!) I really love this game! Thank you for reading! ❤️ ❤️

I purchase this game and full access to everything many years ago like 5 or more years ago when it first came out. I accidentally deleted it off my iPad and want it back but now it says I need a subscription. How do I get this rectified? I’m not pleased. I don’t have money to allocate for another subscription! Thanks.

Best app for that kind of thing

I will say as a person who uses the app it’s the best for multiplication and division and addition and subtraction! Even though there a thing where you pay for it you don’t have to and that’s one of the reasons this app is great. So I totally would recommend using this app for your kids.
