Little Alchemist Remastered is a nostalgic breath of fresh air for fans of the original and a fantastic jumping-on point for newcomers to the deck-building genre. The 'remastered' tag isn't just for show—the UI is snappier, the art is sharper, and the balancing feels more refined. The core loop of combining basic elements like 'Air' and 'Earth' to create powerful spells or mythical creatures is still just as addictive as it was years ago.
What sets this apart from other CCGs is the simplicity of the 'Combo' system. Instead of complex mana curves and keyword-heavy cards, it's about the joy of discovery. 'What happens if I combine a Dragon with a Potion?' The progression feels fair, with a solid single-player campaign that teaches you the ropes before you dive into the competitive arena. It manages to feel both deep and incredibly accessible, which is a rare feat in the card-gaming world.
Over 1,300 unique card combinations
Strategic turn-based card combat
Regular weekly events and rewards
Competitive Arena PvP mode
Focus on researching combos for your most frequent cards early. A 'Bronze' card that has been researched into several combos is often better than a 'Gold' card that stands alone.
Balance your deck between 'Combo Cards' and 'Final Forms.' Too many of the latter will prevent you from making the powerful dual-card moves needed to win.
Not at all! This is a complete, standalone experience that includes all the content from the original with modern enhancements.
This game is excellent and is one of my favorite mobile games of all time; one of my favorite aspects of the game involves discovering unique combinations between cards and achieving powerful combinations in battle. I noticed that while I can combine two cards together to get a powerful version; often times it would be cool to see two combined cards combine together to form Mega cards. For example combining water and human in a card battle results in a mermaid and combing a human and magic results in a wizard. What if you spend one turn combining water and human to get mermaid and have the option of either choosing it to battle or putting it on the bench and you spend the next turn combining human and magic to get wizard and have the option of either choosing it to battle or putting on bench. Then the third turn, you can combine wizard and mermaid to get a new rarity of cards called Mega and the resulting secondary combination is the combined stat total of the two previously combined cards with a brand new Mega ability. Say the human had 9 attack power and 8 defense power and the mermaid had 10 attack power and 10 defense power. The mega combination between mermaid and human could be called Mermage and would have 19 attack power and 18 defense power and would have the absorb ability. Megas don’t consume combo orbs unlike final forms do so it becomes beneficial to perform secondary combinations to achieve even more power.
I have reviewed this app about 3 times now, and I am very happy to say that the feedback I gave has been implemented every time. The game is now very free to play friendly, and it is easier to progress through the game. There have been some excellent quality of life changes with the shorting system as well. With great deals on card packs, a sustainable way to earn diamonds, and the special deals on essence packs, you can spend money if you want to, but it isn’t required. Here is what I hope to see in the future for this game. I need more endgame content to continue to enjoy this game where I can earn more coins and essence. It is extremely hard in the endgame to get coins that you need to buy essence packs to upgrade your endgame cards. I get 75 coins every time I beat the final boss of the game on the hardest difficulty. That means I’d need to repeat this 64 times to get the 3 pack of diamond boosts and it costs 9 energy each time I fight him. Also, I’d like to see more ways to earn onyx fragments. I have played this game for over a year, spent money, and still don’t have an onyx card. Part of the reason is because it’s extremely hard to rank highly in this game’s arena and trials. I have a 60 card deck of onyx and gold combo cards fully upgraded, and I am barely managing to break 1500 in trials and diamond 1 in the arena. I don’t know if there is a bot issue or if the leaderboard just encompasses too many people, but maybe the leaderboard could be more localized to something like each continent. I am hopeful that there is more good changes to come in the future, and I hope the devs read this new review too! I will update my review again as changes are made.
I played this game when it first came out like 13 years ago and the game back then had a major fault, it was insanely pay to win or you’d spend years and years waiting for upgrades and for a boss to even drop a singular card. Back then everyone would just change the date and time in the iPhone settings to skip the timers on upgrades and research, this was the only way to make the game playable and once we did that it ruined the experience and the game was quickly dropped. Now it’s remastered yay, hopefully that means they’ll remove the insane pay wall right? Nope this game is still impossible to progress through without spending a singular dime. They from the start make you repeatedly fight bosses for better loot but literally nothing drops (maybe one card after 10 boss fights) and the game is energy based so you have to wait after a couple fights (unless you pay for energy because you literally start with none and leveling your character takes literally forever. Shouldn’t a low level character get exp faster???). Another thing is they do no help you at all when it comes to your first upgrades (not even a little push), they start you off with no gems or anything so you are forced to wait hours upon hours to research two card combos (you can pay for more slots). THIS GAME is still as bad as it was back then and I really hoped they would’ve remastered the crappy system and paywall instead of simply upscaling the resolution on mobile (that’s all they did).
This game has been fun to play and figure out, however I am constantly getting situations that make no sense to me, and the arena seems to have been completely broken. With the basic combat, I can understand wanting to make all the events happen at the same time, so that you don’t have the direct damage be so much stronger than the others, but you start asking, what’s the point of even doing offense, when the computer is able to buff both at once, and your special attack(the first thing to happen, can lower them into the negatives, but that buff they got lowers you right to 0. You still did more damage, your damage was dealt sooner, but you still get a tie, which is essentially a loss. The Arena, has become completely broken with what I assume to be the new season. Going from putting me against people who could at least, due to ranking, be the same level as me, but putting someone with less than 10 stars, up against opponents with literal thousands of stars, leads to players being unable to do anything but hope they die quickly, and pray that they can get someone their level next time There is also card scaling. In the game you can upgrade cards by sacrificing other cards you don’t use. However the only way to get these cards, is either defeating the computer, who slowly gets stronger cards the more you win, or with gold, which you get 5 of it for losing a fight, or around 35 of it for winning. Meaning winning gets you a tiny bit of the way towards upgrading one card, and the computer getting a similar level of buff to all their cards.
TL;DR: Good game if you can power through and have patience, but needs changes. Current gameplay is repetitive, slow, rarely rewarding, and the main attraction (combos) is locked behind pay walls and an absurd amount of gameplay time before significant progress is actually made. The game is really fun, and the concept is very cool. But I have to be honest; if it weren’t for the nostalgic factor of reminiscing what it was like to play this game years ago, I wouldn’t keep it downloaded. I think with a few changes the game could see massive improvement. When upgrading cards, I wish it applied to every card with the same name instead of just individuals. The simple tradeoff would just be making upgrades more expensive, giving players another reason to grind. Secondly, I do agree that research either needs to have more slots (even just one more) or be a little faster. The attraction of this game is the combos, but until you put in some serious hours (and upgrade your cards with dust, which takes forever when you have to upgrade duplicates too) you can’t do more than a handful. I understand like most pay-to-win IOS games, progress is meant to be fast in the beginning, and slow and frustrating later on, but the progress here isn’t even fast in the beginning.
This game is summed up perfectly with the title. It’s so hard to progress without paying money, even though the researching combos is my favorite part of the game, when I actually try and play the game it’s just throwing yourself at a wall over and over and hoping you can beat the boss. Your health doesn’t last long enough to deal with the bosses 99% of the time, and when you get that 1% odds of actually getting them down to no health, they get you down to no health too, and tie. Now that’s not so bad, right? Wrong. It counts as a loss, and you have to grind to make it a win, which costs your abilities. It’s just absolutely ridiculous to try and beat this game. Make sure you have patience and don’t get heated by games, because you’ll need the patience of a saint to get anywhere in this game. Or alternatively, the wallet of Jeff Bezos. All in all, this game is a pathetic cash grab with a genuinely good concept as the cover for it. It’s such a shame to see a good concept go to waste, as a game developer myself, I can see that there was passion put in at one point, but that passion has died. Some serious change is needed to make this game as good as it could be. But with the highly toxic landscape of mobile games, change is unlikely. I’m not getting my hopes up. But there’s a hope this game can become less pay to win. In a thousand years maybe.
I used to play this game religiously when I was younger. Looking back I regret the time I spent since I saw little to no progression at all. Even with the arena we are faced against people who have great synergy and stronger cards it’s pointless to even bother unless we want to keep losing to just have a weekly placement. It is also hard to grind the game since it goes by energy spending mechanic. The chances of getting a card to drop after defeating a boss is super low. It is a pay to win system and the UI of researching and recycling cards needs to be filtered more. I can’t mindlessly scroll through all my cards to count more than three in order to recycle the extras. Please make a simple filter of duplicates and scale the researched cards down the line if there is no further more combos that can be made without leveling up. I find myself always tapping on cards that I already researched and have to scroll more and do random research combos. There needs to be more options for coins. Diamonds rule everything and to get those we have to level up. But for money it is hard to build and obtain more cards other than the basic ones. Coins are now spent on research cards which I personally find pointless if all I have are common cards. The scale of obtaining rare cards are behind diamonds. Overall the game is very enjoyable and entertaining. Beyond the actual gameplay though are reasons why I do regretted playing as a kid. I was caught up on the fun but saw no progress and felt like it drained my energy and stress. When I saw it was remade I had thought these issues would be addressed but it’s just another attempt to get people to spend time on this game.
Game is remastered with a graphics overhaul but that’s it? No new cards or more story? So many people only play this game for the first few days then quit cuz they get bored and stuck in the game cuz of how much you have to wait. The card upgrade times are ridiculous, it should at least be 12 hours for a gold combo research not a full 24 hours when there is so many combos already. EVERYONE IS TIRED OF WAITING, LISTEN TO YOUR REVIEWS!!! At least make it where you can watch an ad to remove some time off. The difficulty increase between areas is insane too, have to research and upgrade cards which takes days just to be able to fight the next person and upgrading cards is a hassle itself, can only get a few upgrade materials per day so can’t upgrade cards fast either, the increase in amount it cost to upgrade to the next level is insane too. Many people are tired of getting pop ups every time we visit the main menu we get a pop up, very annoying. If you would make at least a few changes that ALL of your fan base has been requesting this game would skyrocket in popularity but for now it’s probably gonna stay mid unless they do what your fans want. All your doing is making your game look like a cash grab.
