Like a Dino is the definition of 'wholesome gaming.' It is a simple, one-handed rhythm game where you control a long-necked dinosaur catching falling musical notes to lengthen your neck. The song selection is lo-fi and incredibly soothing, making it the perfect stress-relief app.

The game doesn't bombard you with ads or complex mechanics. It’s just you, a cute dinosaur, and some very catchy, gentle tunes. The aesthetic is adorable, and the satisfaction of seeing your dino's neck grow to the top of the screen is surprisingly high. It’s a small, polished gem that reminds us games don't need to be complex to be memorable.

Unexpected greatness

When I first saw this app I was surprised that it managed an overall 5 star rating with a decent 28k download. I didn’t expect what looked like a little time waster app to be that great that it deserved 5 stars. Sure it was cute, but it was just an app that was a quick little time waster, there’s hundreds, probably even thousands like it. However, when I started playing I was pleasantly surprised. The graphics are are cute for one and watching the animals neck extend as you play is just great. And the gameplay, while simple and nothing really new (you just move the character from side to side and try to collect all the “notes”), it’s very charming and that’s mainly thanks to the great music. Despite there only being one track that gets sped up as you go along, it’s so catchy that you don’t get tired of it too easily. It’s the perfect tune and goes great with the game. Maybe I just like this game so much because it’s not using cheap ugly 3D graphics, doesn’t rely on cringey and fake advertising to pull people in, doesn’t s*xualize the game for downloads, isn't bombarded with ads of chances to get “exclusive” skins, or just ads shown every time you touch something. It’s a really nice and simple game that actually looks like there was more care put into it then a lot of mobile games some companies pump out as fast as they can. I really don’t have many suggestions other than to add more tracks, skins, maybe even modes? But I personally think it’s fine the way it is.

i’m so surprised i thought i would get bored of this game v quick but i haven’t. The game music is stuck in my head 24/7 i can’t stop humming it, one night i found out a very close friend was spreading rumors about me i was so upset because i had to see her the next day and we were together all day because we work together and i was really upset because she was my close friend and i’ve never thought so when i found out she spread all these rumors abt me at work and other company employees that caused even more drama and i cried all night because i never knew who did this untill now, i’ve told that girl so much and she let everyone know my personal stuff without considering how i feel and how it will affect the people i love and who i work with, after i cried and had my pity party i played the game that really calmed me down and let me relize that everything is going to be fine and now i’m writing this review so hey:) just wanted to let u know to sum this up that this game is amazing from rlly cute music to calming down negative emotions <3 you are loved and u need to remember to be true to yourself and you don’t have to explain anything to anyone the people who know you and love u will always believe u have a good day everyone and i hope u are doing great, you are so loved, i might not know you but i can tell you right now that you are going to be okay and that i love you :))) please remember to drink water and to take a step back i love you all so much have a great rest of your day or night <3 -Alena 💕💕💕

A lot of games I usually download because I'm bored and found it scrolling or I kept getting ads for it so much that I thought I might as well try it even though it's probably trash. Well this game is actually the only game I've ever been recommended to by a friend. At first when it was recommended to me almost two years ago I thought it sounded cool but shrugged it off. I have been playing it for a little less than a week now and. Oh. My. God. It's amazing. It's so adorable too. I love the story and how it not only gives you a plot but the characters too when you pay for it(which embarrassingly took me a while to figure out how to use the characters). My personal favorite dino is the boy version of thank you for all the subscribers :) Also the music is really cute too, I just wish there was more. Also one of the things that I appreciate so much is that you don't have to pay to win and ads are optional and not necessary but totally worth it if you watch them. Also a small detail that I love is when you mess up and they tell you it's okay to make mistakes. It makes me wanna cry every time. But to wrap this review up, I really recommend this game because it passes time and has adorable graphics. P.S. developer please add more songs. if you're too busy that's fine too I just wish there was more too master ♡ anyways bye bye lol

i came across this app on tiktok, and was immediately drawn in by how satisfying it was to watch the characters neck grow along with the beat of the song. i was a bit hesitant to download it because i already have so many games already but i decided “what the heck, why not,” and hit download anyways. if you’re in the reviews looking for a sign to download this app and have yet another game take up some of your precious limited storage, believe me this is the sign. the song is extremely catchy, and the characters are very cute. i like this game specifically compared to the other countless apps i have because of how minimalistic it is, there aren’t a ton of decisions making the game overwhelming but it’s still cutesy and entertaining enough to play for hours on end. the character designs aren’t loud and obnoxious, and even after playing for hours, the song doesn’t get annoying. i have a generalized panic disorder, (and who isn’t struggling with mental health after what a year 2020 has been tbh) and i can genuinely say this app has helped with that. it takes just enough concentration to take my focus away from how i’m feeling and the catchy upbeat song paired with the cute characters and animation is enough to calm me down and bring me back to earth. i cannot recommend downloading strongly enough, just know i’ve deleted all of my other relaxing games and now for upwards of 50% of my day i watch an animated giraffes neck grow. hopefully one day soon i’ll have enough coins to unlock that gosh darn snail ;) remember to take care! drink some water, grab a snack, and DOWNLOAD THIS APP xx

I really truly love this game. It’s helped me be calmer and happier and the music is so so cute! I recommend this game to anyone and everyone. My boyfriend had it and told me to get it, so I did, and here I am obsessed with it. We’ve been competing with each other to see who can get a better score on some of the songs, or who can unlock them all first, and it’s so much fun. I’ve read some of the more bad reviews, saying that they miss the giraffe, but I didn’t have it when it was that, so I don’t know about it. What I do know is that instead of getting all pissy and mad, people should have been more kind about it. Like “hey, I miss the other skins. I think you should add them back or have a wardrobe option so you can switch to them.” Something like that, or just, get over it. Things change and you can’t do anything about it. The developers obviously spent a lot of time to make the game the way the wanted it to be, and frankly, it seems to have gotten more popular with the dinos and the cute little love story. I can’t wait to see what the “coming soon” option is, as part of me secretly hopes it’s a baby dino or something. I really really truly adore this cute game. 5 stars all the way. It’s so cute!!

This game originally caught my eye whilst browsing through the App Store. I wanted to find a game for traveling 6 hours from one state to another, and nothing seemed appealing. The beautiful app icon excited me and looked like an aesthetic game. The download was quick and I was playing in only a couple minutes. When I opened the app, everything looked so welcoming and sweet. The dinosaur was so adorable and the font was perfect for the game. When I started, the music was so calming and happy. I really love the music, and often find myself humming the tunes of the song. I decided to introduce it to my mom because I thought she would like it, but boy, I didn’t expect her to get so addicted! She’s obsessed and really good. We both play it and compare scores. Within a couple weeks, my mom had unlocked all the songs and was pretty great. When the new update came, we were ecstatic! It’s wholesome and you don’t have to worry about your children getting ahold of profanity or inappropriate content. It’s great for the entire family and really cute. My entire family would love to see more and see it flourish. I really love you, super_toki! Keep being amazing, and keep creating!!

This was recommended to me a couple months ago but I didn't look into it since it didn't look like my type of game. Skip to a couple months later, I was bored and scrolling through the app Store for some cute lil apps to check out when I stumbled upon this app again. I decided to download and check it since I had nothing better to do to waste my time and I did not regret it. This game is a very cute game, although the music is the type I don't normally listen to, I surprisingly really enjoyed it and it fits really well with the gameplay. Every time you unlock a costume, it unlocks a dialogue of Dino's love story which I love and the coins needed to purchase the songs and costumes are fairly easy to get, you just need to play the game. The gameplay itself wasn't that difficult and I was quickly able to get the hang of it and even if you aren't good at it, you get three lives per round. Overall, this game is a simplistic but very cute and fun game. (Honestly, I kind of enjoy the simplicity of the game since some games seem to give too many tasks and tend to overcomplicate things. This was a nice change of pace.)

I had literally bought this game today and instantly fell in love with it. The game is very well designed and user friendly. Along with the fact it doesn’t need WiFi and does not have ads popping up everywhere. The game is absolutely fantastic. It deserves every 5/5 stars I’m giving it. Highly recommend. Fantastic app. 🤩 But I do have one concern not about the game but the people playing it. So before I got the game of course I read the reviews and they were mostly great except the ones mentioning a giraffe. Now I didn’t get the game til’ after the update but it seems everyone who had wrote a bad review is over dramatic about the update. Yes I can understand that it would be a little upsetting for that to happen but why be soo upset about a game. Have any of the bad reviewers considered that fact that maybe the creator had to change it for a reason. Or maybe something came up that would cause him to change it. I’m just saying that it’s not worth getting all worked up about. But that’s my only complaint. So please everyone understand. Thank you for reading all of this even though it’s long. 🙂
