IdleOn is an idle RPG that gets more complex the more you play. Unlike other idle games, you control multiple characters who all work simultaneously to gather resources, craft items, and fight. With 17 unique classes, 12 specialized skills (Mining, Fishing, Cooking, etc.), and over 50 NPCs, the game offers hundreds of hours of content with no cap on idle gains.

Our Expert Score

94/100

IdleOn is hands-down one of the most complex and rewarding idle games I've ever played. Don't let the charming pixel art fool you—underneath that surface lies a massive RPG with depth that rivals major MMOs. The 'multi-character' system is brilliant; having one character mining while another crafts and a third fights bosses means you're always making progress across multiple fronts. It solves the biggest problem with the genre: never having enough time to do everything.

The skill trees and class specializations are huge, allowing for genuine build variety. Whether you're diving into the Alchemy system, managing your 3D printer in the factory, or competing in pet battles, there is always something to optimize. The developer's personality shines through in every NPC interaction and item description, making the world feel alive and quirky. It’s a game that respects your time with unlimited idle gains, yet offers enough active content to keep you hooked for years.

Great Game - Hate NEEDING Multi Characters

This is indie.. made by one person.. that being said.. you can tell that they kinda just did whatever they wanted to in regards to the game. Most of it is great. Some of it is not so great. The game in the tutorial FORCES you to create a new character so they can idle and mine, woodcut, craft etc. while your main actually plays the game… sounds good right???… No.. You still have to log in and manage these individual characters to level them up, get them the proper gear, and move their stuff to the stash in town. All of this tediousness just takes away from the game imo… instead of having new characters to manage why not just add minion workers that you can manage from a single character??? Ones that you can just pay coins to and unlock as you progress that will mine and put stuff in the stash automatically??? Or can assign to forge or craft??? Because as you get to higher levels you are expected to manage 5+ characters all doing different things and switch between them… just switching and running around takes so much time… again I don’t understand why the creator didn’t just add minions or a menu to do idle stuff from a single character to take away the switching/managing of multiple characters as such a chore

AAA games should take notes

I am once again floored by the capability of an indie developer. I keep wanting to write an essay about how great it is, but I’ll try to keep this short. Pros -The multi-character system is compelling and surprisingly well balanced. -Maps are places you return to and have secrets to discover. -Bosses have defining features outside of health bars and art style. -Dungeons have their own stats and equipment so new players are equally welcome in raids. -The text and dialogue is entertaining while being suitable for a casual game. The humor is satyrical, self-aware, punny, and peppered with gamer jokes. -NPCs are memorable. -Purchasable upgrades are accessible through regular progress and feel like normal upgrades. -Quality of life features that I wish more developers used (some are earned through quests, but nothing has felt unreasonable) Cons -It’s easy to find a group for the first dungeon because it is incentivized, but the others feel like ghost towns. -While typical of the genre it is a little overburdened by mechanics. -Alchemy feels almost unnecessary. -The constellations were fun to find but would feel more worthwhile as a permanent bonus. -The pinballs could be a little more interactive. -The skill mini-games could use a practice mode so I can play them for kicks and not be limited to five times a day. -If I can only earn an achievement on steam, I don’t want to see it on IOS.

The best idle game I’ve ever played.

I usually HATE idle games. The hells the point of a game if you’re not meant to actually play it?? But I’ve been playing Idleon for over a year and it is fantastic. There’s a ton to do actively, but making progress while you’re offline just feels good with this game. I’ve played for several hours at one time and I’ve spent 5 minutes on it. No matter when I get on and what I do when I play, there’s always something to do so you’re not just sitting there waiting for whatever resources you’re trying to farm. Another great thing is the premium currency, I’ve bought a couple packs to support LAVA but I’ve gotten almost as many gems just playing the game that I got from paying for them. I’d say the dev is super fair with his distribution of gems in the game and as such it really doesn’t have a super pay to win feel. There’s pay for convenience, but the only pay to win he has is time skip candy and you can only get so many in a day so even there your progress is slowed so you can’t just buy a ton of time on day one and rocket to end game. All in all, a very enjoyable game. Oh, and thanks for bringing it to ios LAVA, Its been great being able to play it on the go.

Great game one problem

Idleon is a great game, I have played for while (progressing w5) but the one problem as a F2P player is that this game is going down a dark path the path to becoming a P2W game, this issue has been talked about a lot recently and as some one who downloaded this over 2 years ago it’s sad, back than it was if you buy auto loot that really all you need to buy if you what to spend some money but now every new bundle give a great bonus that puts you ahead for the cost of 10-30$. I have one suggestion make new bundle give only cosmetics/pets without stats maybe make a way to give the new cosmetics the stat buff from the wings and stuff you already own. Lava if you’re seeing this do something don’t get consumed by greed I know there probably many pay2play whales buying every bundle and there’s a lot of money made from them but please don’t go down the greedy path, I never write reviews so this is serious, and to all the people reading this that aren’t Lava, Lava probably won’t see this but YOU can spread awareness. #LavaPleaseNoP2W

This is a must for F2P players

First of all. I only knew about this game because of a youtuber RealCivilEngineer. Thanks RCE. Secondly. This game doesn’t make you feel pressured into paying money to stay competitive. However… would be nice if the developer would add the option to watch an ad for time candy. Let’s say one ad is worth a 4 hour time candy. That way the developer gets some more income from the game. And hey. We will get 4 hours worth of loot in exchange for watching an ad…. I wouldn’t even be able to complain about the ads at that point since it would be worth watching em. Don’t think anyone would complain about ads if they were getting a boost like that from them. Thirdly. Because you have multiple characters on here. There is always something to do… at least most of the time….😅 As you get up in the levels it takes longer to gain EXP. So there will be points in the game where you are stuck waiting. Maybe the Dev should add something to help pass the time?

The BEST Idle Indie MMO Phone Game
Tue Feb 07 2023 palasaint

Stumbled upon this game about two or three months ago and I haven’t put it down since. I tend to play phone games to pass time at school and had been jumping from game to game; playing a few weeks then dropping the game because of a lack of love from the devs (and slightly because I have the attention span of a goldfish). That was, until I found this game, I’ve put countless hours into it and enjoyed every moment of it. From the artwork and animations, to the goofy quests, and the treasure hunts, there’s no way you’ll run out of things to do in this game. If you’re familiar with Steam, where this game originated, and you know of the awards they give out every year; this game hands down is most deserving of the Labor of Love award. Thank you Lava for your hard work, and continuing to provide as much effort as you have to pump out updates that ALWAYS add some sort of new feature whether it be quality of life or a completely new feature. 🖤

Latest Update Ruined Game
Sun Jun 18 2023 Headysilicate

This game was a pretty fun “RuneScape style”idle game, with 10 controllable characters (4 classes multi tiered) fighting and or skilling. However the newest update is horrible as it is just gamebreaking for the game, shortening its gameplay dramatically and just removed the purpose of many early gameplay aspects. HOWEVER, The new companions are vastly too OP and the games progression is thousands of times different then it was developed to be played and this is based solely on ones luck on weekly rollsor spending real $ (players have shown spending $200+ & still don’t have the companion they want). The solo Dev, LavaFlame, doesn’t listen well to the community and says he isn’t constantly money grabbing seem. He is constantly not rewarding those that log in/play daily, and instead makes practically everything luck based making them also luck based and overhyping the rewards one actually will get. However at least these items are still at other times somewhat obtainable, nor are they nearly as game changing. This last update makes the game practically not worth playing. Unlike almost all other “luck” based aspects of the game these companions are timed and none of the other “game buffs” give you near the same benefits of some of these companions (including those other than king doot). OVERALL: I wouldn’t start playing until I checked if the this last update is changed dramatically; tons of complaints on Discord. If you do play I wouldn’t spend much time until you get some companion rolls (though only 1 a week, which will only allow 30 seconds of gameplay). The new meta is do ones companion rolls weekly and don’t waste time playing until you have the good companions, even if they switch you should just wait as any time you spend playing without their buffs will be practically wasted

Best RPG from a mechanical and/or technical stand point

Unlike any game ever played, while the fighting is not the most enjoyable experience and won’t be anything like most games today, what Idleon offers outside of combat is so strong that it has kept me hooked since the day I picked it up. Idleon is a game for those that favor playing every character a game has to offer, being able to see how they operate, and utilizing them to help out your other available characters. On top Idleon has a great many ways to improve your characters and as you travel these start to stack crazy fast bringing you from the start dealing 1-5 damage to the end dealing 100mil damage and beyond! If your the type that enjoys seeing progress and building a strong unit, this game is 100% for you! From a beginners stand point the game also doesn’t throw too much at you at one time. As you make your way through the worlds you unlock more parts of the game and can really learn them at that time, so you are never overloaded on info. On top there are no mistakes, everything you do can trickle down later and some things are even reversible.
