Minor bug fixes and performance improvements.
HYKE: Northern Light(s) is an absolute gem for pixel art lovers. The level of detail in the animations—from the flickering of the campfire to the way Hyke’s cloak flows—is top-tier. It manages to capture a specific 'melancholy but cozy' atmosphere that is hard to find.
The gameplay loop is perfectly balanced. The action in the forbidden zones is fast and requires good use of the character-swapping mechanic, but the game always gives you a breather afterward. The camping mechanic isn't just window dressing; it's a vital part of the strategy and provides a lovely sense of progression as you decorate your site.
As an Apple Arcade title, it’s refreshing to have a full RPG experience without any pressure to buy energy or items. It’s a high-quality, soulful journey that reminds me of the best classic RPGs of the 16-bit era, but with modern polish and depth.
Stunningly detailed 2D pixel graphics
Seven playable characters with unique abilities
Relaxing camp customization and cooking system
Deep, story-driven campaign with full voice acting
No ads or in-app purchases (Apple Arcade)
Before entering a forbidden zone, always set up camp. Cooking meals provides essential stat buffs like increased HP or faster magic regeneration that can make or break a boss fight.
You can play as seven distinct characters, each with unique magic styles. Switch between them to exploit enemy weaknesses and manage your team's energy levels.

I love how this game blends cozy exploration with engaging combat; the pixel art style is stunning, and the atmosphere feels calm yet emotional, pulling you into its mysterious world from the very start. The gameplay is smooth and satisfying (I’m not sure if you can change the difficulty or if it’s bugged), making every moment feel rewarding without being overwhelming. The soundtrack also deserves praise, as it perfectly matches the game’s mood and adds a lot to the overall immersion. Overall, this is a must-play indie gem. Easily 5/5 stars for its charm, style, and heartfelt adventure.
Which is a complete lie, cause my backbone works just fine with it! I’m really enjoying it so far! Reminds me of all the 2D Korean hack and slash games from the 2010s, like Zenonia, that all died when iOS went 64 bit. I surprisingly like the furniture collecting aspect and decorating the camp. The gameplay is smooth and the challenge is pretty perfect. Almost had a bit of a “Y’s” vibe to it as well. Great addition to Apple Arcade!
Amazing game but I could not choose my difficulty it just put me on easy mode and there was no challenge at all maybe on the bosses but still I would love for the devs to read this and fix it please Thank you great game
I like how cute the style and graphics are. The music is very well made. The story is interesting and the gameplay is fun. This is a good game, something that is rare to find nowadays. A gem 💎.
This game is an excellent and fun game, the pixel graphics bring me back to that Sega Genesis nostalgia while being modern. The action is fluid, the challenge is great the further you get into the game.
It’s fine for now, I’ll play more of it and maybe update my review
I really wanted to like this game, but the choppy movement and unresponsive, laggy controls make it hard to enjoy.
This game looks SO FUN AND COOL, but it’s getting stuck on the loading screen for Chapter 0, so I can’t play it. I’d be happy to change the rating to 5 stars, just PLEASE FIX IT SO I CAN ACTUALLY PLAY THE GAME :(
