Mastering the Wind

Wind is the most important factor in Golf Rival. Use the 'ring system' to calculate how far the ball will drift. Each club has a different wind resistance, so learn your equipment to hit precise shots even in high-speed gusts.

It's can be fun to play. But it's definitely got quirks. Besides some stupid buys at the beginning I am free to play. The games all about shot placement. Google the wind effects and know the values. You will be cruising along quickly. However there are tons of bots. Especially tournaments. Luckily they usually loose on purpose to fill the space and just keep the games moving. Tournaments would be better just solo though and not against the bots. Clash and rival both miss a great chance it allowing solo play for fun and or improvements. I mean golf is a solo game. Also I have had the game from connection at some important tiNew so I only play important rounds when I know there's no chance of an issue. Spend money if you want. You will play better but the. Just get paired with better people. I win 70% of the time and never use special ball. And am always outmatches off the green just in clubs. Usually twice as good club. As I only have earth 5 and bat 2. These are great clubs but they took 1000 games to get. Only update clubs you know are proven. Drivers stick to earth, the wheel, or bat. And research the other. Never. Waste anything in something that will be outdated a round later. Have fun. And don't lose your bank unless it's just for fun. Don't waste money on balls. Legendary cards and cards are all that help honestly. And knowing how to calculate wind. Oh yea and aim for the hole. No roll ins. You need the ball to fall straight in to be in control of the shot. Which sound crazy but you will get there. 5 stars for fun. 1 Star for programming and customer service.

Let me first say if you are the type of person that can truly just play a game to enjoy it and don’t care about advancing really far then it’s a fun game. If you are a super competitive person then plan on spending a lot of money to compete the further you advance. I’m the type that doesn’t mind spending a little on mobile games if I feel like I’m getting something for my money. That’s where the hook comes in. At first they make you feel like you are getting what you need to compete. You get all the cool clubs and they work great early on in your progression. The problem is that these clubs need to be continuously leveled as you advance. Except you rarely get the upgrades you need without spending money and even then it’s a crap shoot to get upgrades for the clubs you have. For awhile you will feel like you are really competitive but eventually you will reach a point where you are running in place. No matter how accurate you are with the controls your clubs just won’t go far enough or fade or draw enough to compete with the big spenders (which at a certain point you run into nothing but big spenders). I have reached a level as a light spender where literally everyone I play has clubs 4-5 levels higher than mine. It makes it impossible to compete no matter how accurate you are. Overall it would be a really fun game if the developing company had a clue. Many people will reach a point of frustration and just uninstall the game. It’s a shame because it could be a great game but greed wins out again.

I’ve noticed this thing called “Synchronizing” as someone who left a bad review had mentioned and I’ve noticed it quite a lot.. is it normal or is it a cheat ! I have also noticed that playing against certain people they seem to make these crazy shots and never end up in the “Ruff” or out of bounds and when it’s my turn I make a “Perfect” shot and the ball only goes 140 yards if that with the wind blowing at a straight 8 in the direction I’m shooting !! It makes no sense why but in actuality I realize every game has people that need to make themselves feel better about their OWN “shortcomings” that they probably deal with in real life ! 🤣 I guess it’s human nature and it will always be apart of this system (Online-Cyberworld) where they can be Godly in a Game !!! Other thing I’ve Noticed in the Reviews/Comments of Golf Rival is that you (The Creators of this Game) don’t seem to be helpful when it comes to problems or issues within your game that 100’s of Thousands if not more people spend money on !! I’m an IT Specialist and I’ll leave it at that but you need to address your customers Issues and concerns!! I’ve left my own as well with in this review!! I hope to hear back something because I’ve paid $$$$!!! As well as to my previous review and the Main Issue I brought up in that one that I’ve noticed in many of your other customers Reviews and that needs to be FIXED or you’ll start losing Customers! I’ve seen it many times!! Just saying ! Thanks And hopefully I’ll hear back and my problem will be addressed !

Decent and Fun

The competitiveness does need to shift is the reason I give it a 3. 1. Not right to be placing someone who has been playing thousands more games than you because hmm obviously they have clubs that are supposed to be far upgraded than yours. (I see this probably significantly when you move to next stages.) 2. This is a two parter, people who pay for stuff and game modes. I see someone who has 100 kangaroo balls like 120 black balls, upgraded Bat Wings to like level 5-6 so on it’s like ok your already driving the ball an extra 100+ yards than me great it’s a waste of time. Also really hurts in the Draws it’s like hmm I have maybe 3 balls of each, this person has all these upgrades on my same stage level I don’t stand a chance besides to get lucky they miss fire!!! So I say make a stage mode or some sort of feature that levels it out to just skill. Nobody should have x30 more balls than you, nobody should have a Bat Wing level 2 and facing someone at level 6 and so on with the other clubs. Put those players using some algorithm facing one another so it gives the playing field a little more even. For instance I love the concept when finding opponent you can adjust your setting “No special balls” “Clubs within one ranking up any legendary or free game for all the base level clubs etc” if that means you lower the ranking trophy boost from 60 down to 30 or whatever so be it but at least the game is more fair and gives you a chance against equal level opponents.

Decent game with a few glaring issues

Overall game play is pretty good, really, and you'll be able to play a while before the issues become clear. Those issues include a very clear ceiling on how far you will progress without paying for equipment, and opponents holing ridiculous shots over and over that you never will. It is seriously annoying to play and develop skills and then be paired with someone with an unlimited supply of various balls, and clubs that allegedly should have been available to me many levels ago but weren’t so I still don’t have them. Many of the players with best gear clearly didn’t earn the gear via their play, as evidenced by the foolish strategy the use in actual gameplay. Which beings me to the second point; I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve either been beaten or tied by an opponent with better gear holing out with a fairway wood or long iron. I regularly am very close to holing out but have only done so rarely. If I were to estimate I’d say opponents hole out on me from great distance at least 25%-30% of the time. Virtually every time I play 3-4 games it happens at least once. I’ve been stuck at just under 12k for several weeks now, and just getting there has been a heck of a slog because there is so much to overcome just to get that far. So if you are looking for a game to play long term, expecting to win based on skill and working your way up this one is annoying and a waste of time. If you are looking to waste your money on an on-line game then it may be for you. You really can buy your success with little skill required.

Pay to win

While I don’t ever leave reviews on games, I found myself doing it for this one. The game is set up for you to pay to win. During the higher stages you go up against people that have the same club as you but 4 levels higher so obviously they’re going to hit it further than you. Hitting it further isn’t even the problem sometimes, but it helps in the long run when you have a rough terrain to navigate through. If for some reason you make it a draw then you automatically lose the shootout because even with a max power shot you can’t even reach the fairway while the opponent does it with 3/4 power. When you’re doing special challenges you get matched up with people that have twice as many games played as you and there’s no shot of winning. Since you’re out after 3 losses it costs 200 diamonds to rejoin the challenge at which point you’re matched once again just to lose 3 more times just to do it all over again. At the time of this review there is an event going on where you can claim tokens every day so you can work towards a free legendary club, or so it would seem. They intentionally make it so even if you claim your free tokens every day and trade them for the tickets then you still come up 10 tickets short of the legendary club. To get the 10 extra tickets, you guessed it, you have to spend at least $4.99 to get them. Make the game more enjoyable for people that don’t want to spend $50+ a month on a mobile game just so they can be somewhat matched with the opponent.

Love this game but…

There are many things about this game that are just truly aggravating. When the special challenges come up and you go up against people around your skill level but as soon as you start advancing you’re facing against (for example) a level 6 bat wing compared to your level 3. While you can barely get to the fairway, the other person can clear it with no problem. The most aggravating thing over all is the problem with the clubs changing on you depending on your slight distance from the pin. Thus eliminating the possibility of dunking the ball. Instead of lining it up with your iron, it changes to your wood, then your wood club has wind debuff so it’s nowhere near where you were lining it up. See what I’m saying? ANNOYING. Yes, I love this game, yes I spend money on this game even though I’m paying into this obvious pay to win system. I’ll continue to play but I strongly urge the devs of this game to fix this small yet incredibly annoying thing plus al the pay to win stuff to maybe slow down a bit. Maybe even some better gem discounts and more opportunity to play for stuff. Maybe even some new game modes. Me and my buddy play this game at work together and we would love to have a simple custom game where we can pick the map and maybe the wind (just a few obviously) I hope the devs see this and do something. That would just be dope.

Its just alright

The game overall is fun and addictive and you can get pretty far without paying (so far on level 12)but you have to watch a ton of ads to get that far. The game does have many many flaws. First off it’s pretty easy to get legendary clubs but almost impossible to upgrade legendary clubs without paying for the game. The only way to not pay is to hoard coins then spend 40k coins for 1 legendary card in daily deals. They have challenges but you only ever get 2 legendary shards by spinning the wheel. They also have 4 rounds of challenges with the last round being absolutely impossible because they are all bots that make it in 2-3 shots every time. They also have a dice roll thing with is interesting but is flawed too. One you get over so many shards they switch shards so you can’t get to 100 to get a legendary card. Another way they want you to pay for the game. There is a ton of bots in this game and it’s very obvious when you are playing a bot. For example sometimes there shots are off screen where you can’t even see it, or when they are going for eagle you see there shot mid air and then glitches and you don’t even see it until it goes in hole.(They never miss). You mize well forfeit the match when you start it. This seems to start after level 10. Also it seems the wind is very inconsistent and sometimes doesn’t affect other players balls but always does yours.
