Gecko Out is a physics-based puzzler that relies heavily on its unique 'sticky' movement mechanics. You play as a nimble gecko navigating increasingly complex vertical environments. The hook here is the surface-climbing; you aren't just platforming, you're clinging to walls, ceilings, and moving parts. The controls are incredibly intuitive, using a drag-and-aim mechanic that feels tactile and responsive.
The level design is where the game truly shines. It starts with simple navigation but quickly introduces hazards like spinning fans, electrical currents, and slippery surfaces that force you to time your jumps perfectly. There’s a 'just one more try' quality to the puzzles, especially when you’re trying to collect all three flies in a level for a perfect score. While the aesthetic is simple, the physics engine is robust, making every narrow escape feel like a result of your own skill rather than luck. It’s a solid, charming puzzler for all ages.
Unique Wall-Climbing Physics
Over 100 Challenging Levels
Intuitive Drag-and-Aim Controls
Unlockable Gecko Skins
Hold your finger on the gecko and drag back to aim your jump. The further you drag, the more power you'll have. Use this to bypass large gaps or reach high ceilings that aren't climbable from the ground.
Blue-tinted walls are 'Slick'—you cannot stick to them. Use these like traditional platformer slides to gain speed, but make sure you have a 'Sticky' surface targeted at the end of the slide.
You simply restart at the last 'Safe Branch' checkpoint. There are no lives to lose, so experimentation is encouraged!
Hi. Hello. I love the core gameplay of this game, the specific “shift pieces around to get each pieces to their specific exit” is something you don’t tend to see a ton of. If you could add an untimed mode with extra-hard levels that I could spend a ton of time letting my brain chew on, that would be awesome, as the timer and subsequent “candy-crushification” is this game’s biggest weakness, in my eyes. Also, please add an option to turn off the “Adventurer’s bonus” or whatever it’s called. I want to beat every level legitimately without using boosters, and a booster that makes the level easier that deploys upon start-up is incredibly annoying. I’ve been resetting the level - loosing a life each time - to avoid using this booster, which effectively halves my playtime each session. Please. I’m here for a brain game, not a quick dopamine hit. I get more satisfaction when I complete a level legitimately than when I cheat it, and I just want the opportunity to complete every level on my own without any help. Anyways, excellent base gameplay, I would love it if you released a separate game mode and/or entirely new application that removes the gacha and candy-crush slop and focuses exclusively on the logic-puzzle elements of this game, because beneath the layer of micro-transaction and gambling-pop-up nightmare is a truly fun and innovative gameplay experience.
Adorable. The little guys have very smooth and intuitive movement, it’s easy to control them where I want them, so good job coding! I have a criticism about the color of the holes not clearly matching the color of each gecko. I don’t know why some homes have stripes when none of the geckos do. I’d suggest adding a layer of patterns to more easily differentiate similar colors, this would also help appeal to slightly colorblind people. The levels get VERY challenging very quickly. Needs the option to toggle on or off the timed mode. All games are timed by default, and I need relaxing games while wrack my brains trying to figure out the puzzle. I ain’t the brightest lightbulb in the shed apparently, but the premise of the game is still adorable and interesting and I would like to play, too! But alas, not smart enough to progress past a certain point. Ads are unobtrusive, I appreciate that.
While the game starts out fun and satisfying, once you surpass level 1000, it is impossible to beat most of the levels without spending loads of money on boosters. There aren’t many ways to get coins or boosters for free, and the combination of multiple types of “traps” makes solving these levels beyond difficult. Not to mention the price for those boosters is way too expensive. There aren’t good options for packages unless you get the “Fail” package. Total money grab. Oh, and the extra time boost only adds 3 seconds. Really? Pathetic. Sucked the fun right out of the game entirely. It’s supposed to be fun, but now it’s become stressful and frustrating. I honestly hate the game at this point. I already know the developers will leave a reply (IF they leave a reply at all) that the levels are “solvable” without boosters. My response is: prove it. I have taken screenshots and tried to use pencil and paper to solve them, and a few of them definitely cannot be solved without a booster or two or ten. Only leaving a review so I can prevent others from the eventual disappointment when you think it’s actually a good game. The honeymoon stage ends immediately upon reaching upper levels.
Game has ridiculous low timers that force you to use coins to get extra seconds, have to remove ads and spend real money realistically to beat some levels even though technically every level can be beaten without, as long as your brain is an AI. Updates lower timers and debuff power-ups, i know this for a fact because i’ve watched some tutorials where clocks have 1:25 seconds but i get 1:00. Play “Slime hole out” which is the same exact thing but you can choose to watch an ad to ad 30 seconds instead of paying money for every little thing. So angry at myself for the obscene amount of money i let this game take me for. It was perfectly developed if making money was the only goal. Just addicting enough to want to play but way too hard to have a chance and most of the levels especially higher up. Also they add season passes that expire before you can get to the final reward unless you turn this game into your life….. disappointed such a fun concept just completely ruined by greed….. could have easily made money without the dirty tricks
I like this game in general but am finding it more frustrating than fun recently. I’m currently on level 83 and now it seems that every other level is labeled either “Hard” or “Very Hard”. It is nearby impossible to move any of the geckos enough to get one in their hole and start making progress. Even if I finally get one in the hole, half the time has elapsed and there is no way to complete the level in the remaining time. I guess the business model is based on the notion that some or most players will buy the extras to complete the hard levels but I think more people will just give up playing altogether. Developers would do better in the long run to make their games a little easier and retain their player base over time in my opinion. We play games to relax and have fun, not get frustrated constantly. I don’t mind paying a little for games that I can enjoy. This game would be so much better if they made the hard levels around 15% less hard (fewer walls, one less gecko, more time, etc).
The gameplay is very refreshingly unique, and this is one of the few puzzle games on mobile where each level is hand-crafted to be beatable. This game not having randomly generated levels, such as Two Dots, ensures that you are NEVER forced to buy power-ups. However, the game has the “Adventurer’s Gift,” which will give me free power-ups without my consent. That means to try a level at its highest difficulty, I have to make a move and reset, wasting one of my limited lives. Also, the game board is white and Home Screen brightly lit with no option for a dark or dim mode, making this an awful game to play before bed. That being said, this is still one of the best free mobile games out there.
I quite like logic puzzles like this, and trying to find a way for the colored gecko to get into the right place to leave the board is entertaining and fun. Overall, the app has a really cool concept, but the timers really ruin it. On some of the normal levels, they’re fine, for hard, very hard, and even some of the medium levels, the timers are so tight that it’s literally impossible to beat the level without multiple power ups, plus you have to pay 900 coins to extend the timer by a measly 20 seconds even though winning a level only gives you 40. Especially the harder levels, they’re so crowded with geckos that you literally can’t win in the specified amount of time. PLEASE either remove the timers entirely, or at the very least give a more generous amount of time. I don’t like being stressed out and frustrated because of the stupidly short timers when I’m just trying to play a puzzle game.
This game started out as fun at first, but it gets rather infuriating rather quickly. After every single level, no matter what, you will see an ad. All the changes that happen to the geckos make the game hard to enjoy, because the mechanics become wonky, and there’s too many rules to try and work with. And I understand that the point of the clock is to provide a challenge, and that can be a lot of fun sometimes, but other times, there’s hardly any time at all to get everyone where they need to be, and that’s with me going as fast as I can. I got to the “sleeping gecko” update with the platforms, and I deleted the game. It was becoming ridiculous—if I wanted to play Tetris, I would play Tetris. I loved this game at first, I got rather far, but I’m done. It’s infuriating and hardly enjoyable anymore.
