82/100

French Tarot is a polished and faithful adaptation of one of France's most popular card games. If you've never played, it’s a trick-taking game that uses a special 78-card deck, and it's much more strategic than your average game of Hearts or Spades. The AI in this app is surprisingly sharp, making it a great place to learn the complex bidding system.

The UI is clean and traditional, which I think is the right choice for a classic card game. It doesn't distract you with flashy animations; it just focuses on the cards. The 'Hand of the Day' feature is a nice touch, giving you a daily puzzle to solve. For fans of the game living outside of France, this is easily the best way to get your fix without needing to find three other people and a physical deck.

Great gameplay, but not perfect

Thanks for making this app! I’ve been using it to play, and I love the fact that I can go through games quickly and try to strategize. Lets talk about the bad parts - there aren’t many. The biggest issue I’ve found is that the point scoring system is wrong. I went through a few rounds and painstakingly retraced each hand, and then did a count at the end. The points aren’t adding up correctly. It would be really helpful to see the attackers final deck at the end of the round in a separate tab to be able to back check. Right now to check this, you need to play through the a round, look at the hands at the end of the round, distribute cards accordingly, and then replay the round. It takes forever. Additionally, the AI recommended moves and asides aren’t exactly clear. I’d like to be able to understand why it’s recommending something better than the callouts it’s giving. Maybe there could be a separate tab which shows the AI instructions and logic that it will follow. I’d like a callout for why a bit was recommended! But overall, the effort you’ve put into this is outstanding! Thank you so much for putting this on the App Store, as it has made getting people into the game so much easier.

Fantastic!

I’ve been looking for resources to help learn French Tarot (jeu de tarot) and this has been pretty helpful! Tried the free version first and got this one to be rid of the ads. Glad games like this are being somewhat preserved for outsiders who don’t have a playing community. Cheers 💕 Ps. Would love if the rules section was even more accessible. Maybe a glossary or something? It’s somewhat difficult to keep all the new concepts in my head at once so having a reference while reading rules would be super helpful! Same goes for being able to tap on elements of UI and have it explained. A great example of these sorts of tool tips is Slay the Spire, where all keywords are explained repeatedly next to cards when highlighted / status effects when highlighting yourself / enemies.

good app

Game is well made. You get many features and great content for a free app. Previously, I said that the paid version had ads. To the developer, sorry I mistook this version for the paid version. I installed both at some point and couldn’t tell the difference on the App Store and I thought this one was the paid version. My apologies.

Great game!

I don’t have a lot to say about this game other than that as a tarot and tarocchi fan, it’s very well-done and a regular for leisure time on my iPad. The $4.99 paid version is absolutely worth it over the free version, but play the latter yourself a bit first so you can get a feel for what you’re buying.

Best app

This is the best app. Very addicting and the graphics are excellent. I play with my friends almost every weekend and no more dealing or keeping score. Just wish more people played online.

Very good game but in meed of tweaks

Very good game with good AI choices except for the following happening even in expert mode. - when the caller puts down the 21, the partner should always put down the petit if he has it, it’s the ambulance. It baffles me the number of times we have lost the petit recently. - when you play 5 people and call a king, the default should be for the partner called to put his king down the first time the color is played, not keep it to try to steal points in the future. Very frustrating to lose the called king over half the time. Thanks

(Edited) great app game

I enjoy this game greatly. The layout is clean, animations smooth, and gameplay quite fun. I previously thought scoring wasn't working in the 5 player game but I was wrong - it is working as intended. Good app and pleasant game!

Needs some improvements (that app once had...)

- Good app. - Needs a language option. It was in French, now it is only english with a bunch of translation mistakes! There needs to be an option.
