This is a minor update with bugfixes and some new features:
New features:
- Background audio (e.g. playlists from Apple Music) can now be played back instead of F-Sim's in-game music. This is optional and must be enabled in the F-Sim's Sound And Vibrations settings.
- RCS controls (in orbit mode) now always use virtual sticks instead of tilt controls
- New autopilot wheel-brake option
The following bugs have been fixed:
- Wheel bounce detection is now less aggressive
- Fixed a bug with terrain collider updates (this bug sometimes caused the Orbiter to jump during rollout when the framerate was low)
- Fixed a couple of bugs concerning wheel brake control during rollout.
F-Sim Space Shuttle 2 is a technical achievement of the highest order on mobile. This isn't an arcade flight game; it's a cold, hard, and incredibly satisfying simulation of one of the most complex aircraft ever built. The physics engine accurately models the 'flying brick' nature of the shuttle during its final approach, requiring genuine skill and concentration to land safely.
The visual upgrades in this sequel are staggering. The atmospheric effects, the lighting on the cockpit instruments, and the terrain detail are console-quality. The addition of mission planning and historical scenarios adds a huge amount of longevity. It is the definitive 'pilot's simulator' for anyone with even a passing interest in aerospace—demanding, educational, and breathtakingly realistic.
Console-quality 3D graphics
Realistic flight and atmospheric physics
Full interactive 3D cockpits
Historical NASA mission scenarios
The shuttle has no engines during landing—it's a glider. If you are too high or too fast, use 'S-turns' to bleed off energy before reaching the final approach cone.
At 100 feet, begin a gentle flare to reduce your descent rate to less than 3 feet per second. Landing too hard will cause structural damage and fail the mission.
Yes, it has native support for MFi and Bluetooth controllers, which is highly recommended for precision flight.
Since 2012 the f-sim has been my most played "game" app in my phone and ipad. This new version is a big improvement. I fly big jets for a living and the characteristics and feel for the new controls remind me more of real flying. In the old app I had diconnected all automation and assistance and made a good or perfect landing almost all times. This new version is much more difficult and small mistakes have more effect on the touchdown. I know flying the 767 and the space shuttle is not the same but I think this is much more like flying the real thing. I am really looking forward to the re-entry part. If I can point out some small improvement that could be made. First the lighting inside the cockpit at night is too bright. In real life you would have all light as dim as possible and most likely turned all the way down. Second I would like more options regarding crew comunication. Not always the same crew. Thanks for an awsome simulator and I hope you will continue to improve, extend and add new things to it!
I had been playing “F-SIM Shuttle One” for a number of years when I came across this, and although I hesitated from buying this game for a while I finally caved in, and this game is well worth $5. The orbiter’s cockpit is wonderfully and realistically detailed and Atlantis’s exterior is no less beautiful and almost looks like the real thing. In addition, to all of this I also love the tutorials, demonstrations, and even the new landing site (White Sands, I don’t care if it was only used once). But even, better orbit mode is a great way to see the Earth in a unique way. I can’t wait for a new update!! This is a must for any Spaceflight nerd (like myself). My only critique would be that the payload doors are closed in orbit mode, in real life the cargo doors were open while in orbit to keep the shuttle’s systems from overheating, but honestly this doesn’t bother me that much as the amazing RCS thruster plooms make up for that. Keep up the great work!!
F-Sim 2 is a good update of the original F-Sim Space Shuttle flight simulator. I bought the original for my iPad when it first came out, and I appreciate the new version on my current iPhone X. The motion and control is smooth. The HUD is realistic and captures the visual aspects of landing the Shuttle. The simplicity of the controls is well suited to an iPhone, so you can focus on roll and pitch with the way you hold the phone, without needing to use your hands to fiddle with buttons or other things to click on. The simulator is simple in this way and fairly easy to get started, yet it is challenging in the skills needed to carry out a *good* landing. The scenery is beautiful, the cockpit details are very good (including functional displays!), and the sun lighting is rendered well. Finally, I really appreciate that there aren’t in-game purchases or ads. This app keeps to the old method of simply buying it once.
Was a fan of the first F-Sim and came back to try F-Sim 2 after many years. I’m enjoying it a lot! It’s challenging but I’ve gone from the top of the Consecutive Crash Landings Leaderboard (not a thing) to my first Perfect Landing and subsequent #2 spot (Mar. 15) on same named leaderboard in about 2 weeks time. Graphics and app performance are smooth as butter (iPhone 11). No complaints at all except for not being able to see some of the leaderboard titles due to word length. Not gonna lie, really looking forward to that re-entry challenge but it’ll get here when it gets here. Good luck to the dev(s) and all the astronauts/cosmonauts out there!
I was a long time user of the original f-sim and this new version is a fantastic update. The graphics are stunning and the performance is great even on my iPhone XR and 2017 iPad Pro. But the heart of this sim is realism. It flies like the Shuttle, with all the fun challenges that entails. You won’t get bored trying to hit the perfect landing and, if you become a total expert, there’s always weather and failures to add an extra challenge. Also, fellow space nerds will appreciate that this version adds White Sands as a landing site.
This game is amazing the quality is good the audio is PERFECTO it’s so realistic I can’t even focus on the space shuttle this is the type of game I play when I am bored I play this game all day because it’s so realistic my question is when is the reentry update coming? The turning is really good especially when it is on the HAC mode you can customize the land final, full, fail, what runway, day or night it’s just so good i expected to be like f sim 1 but it’s has more than that it’s really good.
It’s great, you should really buy it, for a mobile game the graphics are AMAZING!!! The only thing i ask is to fix the glitch where your device won’t calibrate in custom flights, and make it so that the payload bay doors open when you are in orbit, and you could maybe even put payloads in, aside from a few little things, it is still a great game!
I have been using the original F-Sim for over 10 years on many different devices, loved the app, so when I saw F-Sim 2 I rushed to buy it. Big mistake! On my iPhone 14 Pro running iOS 16.4 it worked OK, although I do not notice any significant improvement over the original version despite the app taking up 20 times more storage space. On my iPad Pro 2024 running iPadOS 17.4 tilt control just does not work! Reading the reviews -which I should have done BEFORE purchasing the app- I realize the developers went AWOL 2 years ago and did not update the app to be compatible with the new OS. I feel ripped off and wonder why Apple allows this app to be sold on the App Store…
