Updated for iOS26 with bug fixes and UI improvements.
Cro-Mag Rally is a delightful blast from the past that has been expertly modernized for 2026. As a prehistoric kart racer, it manages to feel entirely unique in a genre dominated by plumbers and high-tech karts. Racing through the different ages of man—Stone, Bronze, and Iron—provides a great sense of visual and mechanical progression. The 'bone-car' physics are surprisingly bouncy and fun, making every drift around a volcano corner feel tactile and satisfying.
The weapon variety is the real standout. Homing pigeons and bone bombs are genuinely funny alternatives to the standard shells and bananas. The addition of full Game Controller support turns this from a fun mobile distraction into a legitimate competitive racer. Whether you're playing for the nostalgia of the original Pangea Software classic or experiencing Brog's adventure for the first time, the high-resolution UI and smooth performance make this the definitive version of the game. It’s an essential title for anyone who appreciates the history of Apple gaming.
9 unique tracks ranging from deserts to Viking villages
11 primitive vehicles with distinct speed and traction stats
9 wacky power-ups including Bone Bombs and Homing Pigeons
Networked multiplayer: Race, Tag, and Capture the Flag via Game Center
Updated for 2026 with high-resolution UI and 64-bit support
Full Game Controller (MFi) and Haptic Feedback support
To dominate the tournament, focus on gathering Arrowheads; they act as your currency for speed boosts. In the Jungle track, stick to the inner muddy paths—they provide a better line for catching the 'Nitro' power-ups. When using the Heat-Seeking Homing Pigeon, wait until you are on a straightaway to ensure it locks onto the leader correctly.
Beyond standard racing, Cro-Mag Rally features specialized multiplayer arenas for 'Tag' and 'Capture the Flag.' In 'Gather' mode, your objective isn't just speed—it's precision. Use the 'Freeze Bomb' strategically in multiplayer to halt opponents right before a jump, causing them to fall into pits.
You must finish in 1st place in the Bronze Age Tournament on 'Normal' difficulty or higher.
This game was a huge part of my early childhood, at the time there were not manny big mobile games, this is one of the ones i remember getting and likeing alot though, was sad when the apple updates made half of my childhood obsolete and unplayable, but to my suprise this game still remains playable, huge props to the dev team for letting me be able to replay my child hood
Such a fun and nostalgic game! My siblings and I may be into our twenties and thirties and in 3 different cities, but we still have a great time playing together! This game as an app is more difficult than playing on the computer. Group play has various shortcomings, including going to black or blue screens, randomly quitting, and lengthy waiting periods while on the same Wi-Fi. We would also love to include more than just 4 players, and be able to use all of the racetracks, including Atlantis! This app is better for single players, but know that if you update group play, we’ll be here for it!!
Look at the update history for this game. In a market full of games that go obsolete whenever Apple puts out an update, Cro Mag Rally powers through. It's been a great game since day one. The endless support deserves 6-7 stars at least. 5 stars will have to do. Update: Pangaea truly deserves a round of applause for supporting their games through thick and thin.
My wife and I almost get in fights after playing head to head Cro Mag racer - the multiplayer races are competitive. The game is amazingly well designed - pay attention to the music - the graphics are great and no two games are alike. The different playing modes keep me playing forever. I love everything these guys do.
Hey Pangea, I am having a problem installing this on my retro iPhone 3G (iOS 4.1) I get the error message "App not compatible with this iPhone". I didn't even get a prompt to downgrade! I was able to do this on my iPad first generation (iOS 5.1.1). I'm not sure if this a problem on Apple's side or mine, or yours. Please fix if possible! Unless I'm being dumb and Cro-Mag is truly unusable on iOS 4?
Amazing support for this game. It's still a great game and perfect for kids!! Thanks for continuing with this one...more parents who monitor their kids screen content (especially younger ones) should know about this gem! I've had this since before being a mom and now my 7 yo plays!
I played this game all the time as a kid! This game is great for reliving that fun-- however, the mechanics feel SO different than the original! Partially because of the tilt controls instead of using a keyboard, but it feels a lot more... squirrelly? I also miss the winning song! Either way, totally worth the $2, and still fun almost 20 years later!
I have played Cro-Mag Rally hundreds of times and I keep coming back to it! The physics feel real, and I still enjoy it every time. My only wish is that there should be a timer, so that the player could try to better his or her quickest time on subsequent runs.
