Ensuring support for the newest iPhones and iPads.
Small changes in the user interface to meet the latest best practices.
CardsAlone is a hidden gem for solitaire lovers, particularly those looking for something beyond the standard Klondike or Spider variants. It features two unique games: 'Napoleon's Grave' and 'Hexagon,' which are rarely found in other solitaire apps. The app is incredibly minimalist—no distracting sounds, no flashy animations—just pure, focused card play. It’s perfect for a quick mental break or a long session of contemplative strategy.
What truly makes CardsAlone stand out is its commitment to accessibility. It is one of the few card games that is fully compatible with VoiceOver, allowing visually impaired players to enjoy the game through gestures and speech output. This level of inclusion is rare in the gaming world and deserves high praise. With features like one-step undo and support for all modern iOS devices, it’s a polished, thoughtful, and highly inclusive solitaire experience.
Two rare solitaire games: Napoleon's Grave and Hexagon
Full VoiceOver support for the visually impaired
Minimalist, distraction-free design
One-step undo functionality
Universal support (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV)
In Hexagon, your goal is to clear the board by matching cards. Pay close attention to how many times you go through the main stack, as the app now tracks this for you. Use the one-step undo feature if you make a move that blocks your progress later in the game.
Visually impaired players can use standard VoiceOver gestures to navigate the cards. The 'two-finger scrub' gesture is also supported, making it easy to interact with the interface and manage the game board through speech feedback.
No, CardsAlone is designed to be a silent and focused experience.
Still addicted after 4years. I’m glad my new iPad reminded me to update my review. I still enjoy developing my strategy for Napoleon’s Grave, which I play at least a few times a day, and I still enjoy Hexagon at least a few times a week. As a VoiceOver user, I’ve used these games to help me become more proficient with the touch screen on the iPhone and iPod touch, and, sure enough, now it’s helping me learn about space on my iPad’s screen. Thank you for a fun, stable app that keeps me interested in learning at my own pace.
I like this kind of game, but is there anyway that you can do a help topic to show how to play each one of these cause I’ve never heard of them
This game is a lot of fun I am a blind player and it only took me a few minutes to figure out how to play this game It works great with voiceover on my iPhone
I love the accessibility of this app. One of the best game apps I have found to work with VoiceOver.
Word of this little solitaire app came to me out of the blue a few days ago. I appreciate the fact that its games are unique, and seem quite challenging--I've yet to win either. What's more remarkable for me is that this game is, as the description notes, fully accessible with VoiceOver. iOS games which can claim this aren't uncommon, but solitaire-style games were notable for their absence, until now. I for one hope this app continues to be developed. A few more game varieties might be nice, as different solitaire rules require different strategies. Still, as is this app is excellent, and I have no issue giving it top marks.
These two games are fun and challenging, I was unfamiliar with either of them. Thank you for the accessibility. Great app, bring us more! A+
As advertised, works beautifully with VoiceOver. The action can be slightly sluggish on a 2GS, but it hasn't stopped me from enjoying hours of fun. A few more game types would be welcome, but it's well-worth the price as it stands. Buy it -- you won't be sorry.
Great games! More solitaire game types and game center support would nerit 5 stars. Maybe some unlockables and a leader board for fastest solve times.
