Biblios Dice is a masterclass in translating a complex board game into a digital format. It manages to capture the tension of the original 'Biblios'—the delicate balance between acquiring rare books and manipulating the value of the market—but adds the exciting unpredictability of dice. The game is a battle of wits where you must decide when to be greedy and when to play it safe.
The digital implementation is flawless. The UI clearly displays all the values of the various colors (monastic orders), and the automation of the 'Auction' and 'Donation' phases keeps the game's pace brisk. For fans of strategic resource management and market manipulation, this is a top-tier adaptation. It’s deep enough for hardcore strategy fans but streamlined enough to be played in 15-minute bursts.
Faithful digital board game adaptation
Challenging solo AI modes
Online and local multiplayer
Automated market and score tracking
Use the Scriptorium die to change the value of colors you don't own. Lowering the value of your opponent's best books is often more effective than raising your own.
Don't neglect the Bishop's favor. Donating dice early might seem like a waste, but winning the Bishop's bonus at the end of the game is often the tie-breaker in close matches.
Yes, while the theme and market mechanics are the same, the dice version introduces new resource acquisition strategies.
I had bought the developer’s other game, and it’s great, so I thought I’d get this too, as it’s exactly the kind of game I enjoy. Normally I wouldn’t spent $9 on a mobile game, but this developer keeps their games updated, so I felt it was worth the risk. Plus, there are no ads or IAP. And the privacy policy is good. I applaud developers like this. We need more like them. I’m so glad I bought this game! I watched an online play through, and I could tell I would like it. And the tutorial is really good too. The game plays easily, and fast, yet it’s very engaging. It’s the perfect balance of strategy and luck. There are interesting decisions. The visual layout makes it easy to digest all the info at a glance. It’s one of the best I’ve ever played in that regard. Even with the strategy involved, the vibe is still very relaxed and casual. It doesn’t feel frustrating or stressful. It’s purely super enjoyable and engaging. Thank you developers for doing everything right. I look forward to playing this a lot. I highly recommend this game. It’s probably the best money I’ve spent on a game in the App Store.
