We've been working hard to make your experience smoother. Thanks for playing Lord of the Board!
Backgammon Lord of the Board brings the classic tavern game into the modern mobile era with slick graphics and smooth multiplayer functionality. Finding a match takes seconds, and the user interface makes moving checkers and managing the doubling cube highly intuitive, even for beginners.
While the core gameplay is rock solid, the game does push heavily toward its virtual currency economy. A bad losing streak can deplete your coins, prompting the game to encourage in-app purchases. However, if you play smartly and participate in the daily events, you can enjoy a highly competitive and satisfying backgammon experience without spending a dime.
Real-time multiplayer matches
Live tournaments and leaderboards
Social chat features and friends lists
High-quality graphics and smooth animations
Focus on establishing 'anchors' by getting two or more of your checkers on the same point. This prevents your opponent from landing there and keeps your checkers safe from being 'hit'.
If you feel you have a strong advantage, offer a double. Your opponent must either accept the doubled stakes or resign the game immediately, adding a deep layer of poker-like bluffing.
Yes, the developers state they use a certified Random Number Generator (RNG) to ensure fair and truly random dice rolls.
Backgammon is a great game, and this is a pretty good (and free) version of it. Yes, I’ve had some statistically improbable runs of bad luck that had me questioning the randomness of computer-generated dice rolls programmed by a developer who’s in the business of getting people to make in-game purchases — but “improbable” isn’t “impossible” and I win more than I lose, so I won’t go there. But speaking of being in the business of getting people to make in-game purchases, one of the frustrations of this game is that every time I open it — and often between opponents— I have to dismiss one in-house splash-screen ad after another: about 8 of them in a row, and the Close button is put in different places so I have to take the time to look at each one of them to figure out how to get it to go away. The game was free, though, so I can’t complain too much if I have to close a few ads to play. Another irritation is that the Double Cube is right next to the Roll Dice button, so it’s real easy to hit it unintentionally— and it doesn’t ask for confirmation that you want to double. Please, Developers, add a confirmation to the double cube! On the plus side, I can almost always find an opponent within a matter of seconds. Chat is very limited, but at least you can disable it to shut up annoying players who spam you with messages. One thing you can’t do is stop players from running out the clock when they are about to lose. But the game boots them after a minute, so not too bad. All in all a decent way to scratch the BG itch.
Think twice before you purchase coins on this site. After years of just ignoring the SUPER SPIN, I decided to give it a try. A huge mistake! The lowest amount on the wheel was 470,000 coins with a maximum of 3 million for 99 cents. Pretty tempting, right? Well, once I paid, rather than letting me spin the wheel, they just added 90,000 coins to my account. 90,000? Why? So I sent an email, the response was the “free Mega Bonus” randomly lands on a slot. Keep spinning and good luck!!!! In other words, the person did not even read my post. So, I took a screen shot of the wheel and sent it with more explanations. They then added another 10,000 coins. Again, I sent another screen shot of the wheel with more explanations. I added I did not understand why the person was ignoring the problem and demanded that they either refund me the .99 cents or let me spin the wheel to collect what is rightfully mine. At the same time, I contacted the app which I used to pay for the wheel spin and asked for a refund. This morning, again another 500,000 coins were added to my account rather than letting me spin the wheel. I am totally exhausted dealing with this game site. Never again will I purchase coins from them. It is not worth the hassle!
I’ve been playing this app for awhile. It has beautiful graphics but totally same game all the time. If there are real people playing on this app it’s hard to tell with the heavy handed bots controlling every aspect of the game. The bots try to destroy you with exact rolls and then you get typically blocked and have only one move. It is the MOST UNREALISTIC backgammon game out there. Find a friend to play with instead of using this app. I think often of the game developers and wonder if they are trying to get people to hate backgammon? It seems they are intent on creating a negative experience when you just want to play a few games to unwind. How can you unwind when you are entering into a unfair game from the start? I finally figured out that actually they are all bots with a real person playing once in awhile. No one wants to play a unfair game to have fun. I mean that’s the point right? The point is to have fun and improve your game? How can you do that when the game already knows it’s next move. So my advice, identify the bots and let people know when they are playing the machine. I feel like I’m playing the same game every time I can predict their moves cause it’s just like the last game. THIS GAME COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER BUT it’s not. The house always wins. Look I just want to play and it’s not fun to watch a bot play while you get no moves. Is that the intent?
Another incredible update. Just played $100k game. Bot rolled 12 doubles. Four 6/6. I rolled 5. All on the bar, by their way. By the way, charging you 30% for a win shows you just how greedy these gaming companies are. One more update. Just needed to roll two simple rolls to win $1m. Bot rolled dbl 6, dbl 4, dbl 5. Rip off. Rigged! Just lost a game with $2m on the line. The only way I could lose based on board setup and the way I knocked opponent off was for the opponent to roll 1-6. They did so 3 times in a row!! Sorry - not random. Another update. Played a game where I rolled 12 doubles. 10 of 12 were blocked on the bar. In the same way, knocked bot opponent to the bar 4 times in a row. The only spot open required a 3 roll. Bot rolled 3 four times in a row. Sorry, not random. Did some additional tracking. I lose more than 70% of the time if the opponent is rated above 100. I can’t tell you how many times I have outplayed an opponent to have them roll multiple high doubles at the end to barely win. Game is a scam. Started tracking my doubles when I haven’t bought coins in a while. Almost 75% of my doubles will occur when blocked or when the game is already over; or opponent rolls exact dice to get out of a blocking jam. Not random in any way. Something happened with the latest update. Game loads to 95% and then hangs. Very frustrating. Great game. Enjoyable and simple in approach. Many board game makers try to be too fancy. Not here. Simple by elegant at the same time.
If you want to play REAL backgammon, hop on PlayOk or another reputable site. This app is a complete money-grabbing sham, and for them to say otherwise is even worse. I honestly don’t know where to begin. Their “online standard” 15% minimum rake is blasphemy. Maybe if one could cash in the coins for real money, that would make sense; similar to a casino poker room. But not only are you buying coins that have zero monetary value, they skim off your winnings, making it virtually impossible to get ahead in coins. And that is even with a >50% win rate! The dice algorithm is absolutely cooked. If you’re miles ahead, prepare to see double after double after double. If you’re on the bar looking at 3 open spaces, you can almost forget about getting in. Then (you guessed it!) doubles to block you in. The game plays impossibly “lucky”. I can’t count how many times I’ve opened the game with a 5-1 or 6-2, get hit immediately, and don’t get off the bar until after the opponent has eaten 4 blots. The odds of that happening once are less than 0.1%, so the fact it’s happened on multiple occasions on this app tells you everything you need to know. Not to mention I have never had that happen in my favor. You are a fool if you give these crooks your hard earned money. If you are new to backgammon, stay far away because this is NOT how the game is played. I have played my last game on this app, and I hope many of you will be soon to follow.
I have been played hundreds of thousands of games of backgammon at a very high level for over 40 years and have seen more than my fair share of unusual and amazing rolls , games, matches and tournaments. This site, "Lord of the board", however, takes the cake by obliterating the laws of probability to levels that would make a stats professor tear his hair out and vomit in disbelief. At one point I started filming a series of 25-30 straight losing games that looked like a script from Jackass or Punked. Opponent need 3 straight dub 6s to win? No problem whatsoever. Opponent has 3 on the bar with your home 5 spot only open. Not only will they out with the dub 5s but you get hit as well with regularity. I will be posting this video somewhere soon for all to see the mathematical marvel that is emblematic of this ridiculously bogus program/game. Thank God I don't play for money on this site because it is so predictably fixed that I could write a novel citing dozens of examples of their patterns of unethical foolishness that have a virtually zero probability of happening in a real game. And they happen with predictable regularity. Chatting with an opponent has been eliminated to protect their computer generated players masquerading as human ones. If you want to experience the most frustrating exhausting and infuriating and fixed game on the planet then by all means download "Lord of the Board". They will deliver all of the above and more.
Game is absolutely rigged. Developers claim to use the best RNG, however I’ve gone 10+ games in a row without winning the initial dice toss, which is statistically unlikely, and it happened multiple times. Loose roughly 90% of the initial dice toss. Rest of the game isn’t much better. Game would be fun, if not for it being so rigged. —— Update 1: the developer claims that the game is fair and based only on luck and skill. The initial dice through is never based on skill, only luck. With a fair RNG that should end up roughly 50/50 win/loss, which is just clearly not the case. The developer seems to be posting the same response to anyone that complains about this, instead of looking into this issue. It appears they tone deaf on this. —— Update 2: the developer keeps on insisting that the initial dice roll is just luck and skill. How tone deaf can you be? There is 0 skill involved, so why they keep on insisting that there is is amazing. It’s pure luck, or at least it would be with a good RNG. The results however are consistently statistically improbable. Developer insist that their RNG is ‘certified’. Why not show and prove said certification? If you’re so proud of that, perhaps publish the certification? —— Update 3: the developer still insists that the initial dice roll is dependent on ‘skill’ and ‘strategy’. I’d like to know how. Most likely they are just posting canned responses, without actually truly addressing the feedback. At this point I’d give 0 or negative stars if I could.
UPDATE: below you will find my original review. Now is the time for update. So I played this game total about 2 months. Didn’t buy any points and got up to 500K+ simply by playing. And then I noticed, no matter how I played I could not get above 60% win/lose ratio. It just wouldn’t let me. And then, suddenly I start loosing hard, which I do not mind at all. But! 6 or may be 7 in a row? C’mon. And the dice was so against me like you wouldn’t believe. Id get like 5:2, 3 times in a row, and the opponent will get big dbls same 3 times in a row and then every other roll is dbl as well. Even if you are not an emotional person you will be. So find yourself a live partner and take a pleasure playing may be once a week, but fare game. May be if I bought some points the system would treat me differently, but I went all in and, as I expected before even I started playing this last game, I lost. App deleted. ————- Original review after couple of weeks of playing: Tried dozen of different versions, deleted them, and this one seems better than the most. The best thing is, they do not force you to play higher score boards by closing you an access to lower ones. I like playing low coin boards and just enjoying the game, rather than being forced to play high stakes and be afraid to lose everything in a couple of games. The only suggestion is I’d prefer if “roll” button would not disappear on a higher score games, I kinda like taking a second before rolling in some situations…old seasoned player’s habit. Other than that no major issues with dice generator. Good job guys.
