Apple Knight 2 is a masterpiece of modern retro-platforming. It manages to capture the precise, tight feel of 16-bit classics while introducing modern amenities like fluid animations and a robust customization system. The level design is the real star here—every stage is packed with secret areas, challenging enemy placements, and 'hidden-in-plain-sight' collectibles that encourage exploration.
The combat feels incredibly responsive. Jumping from a wall to deliver a mid-air dash attack feels satisfyingly crunchy, and the boss fights are genuine tests of skill rather than just bullet sponges. I was particularly impressed by the sheer amount of content—there are plenty of worlds to explore, each with a distinct visual identity and new mechanics. For anyone who grew up with a SNES or just appreciates a high-quality action platformer, Apple Knight 2 is an absolute essential.

A Worthy Successor
Fri May 12 2023 erherringboneIt’s a terrific sequel to the awesome Apple Knight. Gameplay is there, visuals, the controls are great if a little small. And while I’d love a premium version, or the ability to bypass adds to open those treasure boxes, the developers have been very generous with their free version. There are ads for extra gems and coins, but I haven’t been hit with any unwanted ones. (I watch the ads for the loot, myself.) It would be nice if after a level it went straight to the next one instead of out to the title screen — it kind of disrupts the game flow — but all in all a very solid effort. Love this title, wish there were more like it. Definitely worth $5 or even $7 dollars so far without ads. Could see it being worth $10 with more content.
A great sequel to a great game

The second game improves on all the aspects of the first, the ads aren’t overwhelming, better pixel art, and there are abilities, pets, and skins. Even new combat features like parrying and midair attacking. Also, I loved how the developer read and responded to some of the reviews from the last game, and implemented their ideas into the next game. W game W devs Edit: after playing a little more, I miss the difficulty levels as the old game was harder and more fun for me and I often had to take a few attempts to puzzle out how to beat the level. Lastly, bring back garraldin quests!!!!!!!!
Adds are too long and glitchy
Mon Sep 15 2025 ArchaemusIt’s a fun game with some definite improvements over the original. Although, they added a few things that seem unnecessary. The ladders seem like a silly addition and most of the time are superfluous. When you kill an enemy, you don’t get the full treasure unless you keep hacking away at the body until it disappears. This is needlessly violent. They switched to a health bar instead of the hearts. Some things damage you more than others. I liked the hearts a lot better. It was easier to see how much health you had left. Some of the swords have bonus powers which you cannot control. They just happen. But you don’t get an unlimited amount of it. This means if you are attacking boxes, chests, and shrubs(to get hidden apples), you are wasting your bonus attack. Lastly, and the main reason I didn’t do more stars, when you open the bonus treasure box, an add pops up. Not only is it too long in my opinion, but sometimes they don’t close. I’ve had to restart whole levels a few times because the add wouldn’t show an X to close it.
Simply put, this game is amazing

Now if you haven’t played Apple Knight you are more than free to go do that and as soon as you play Knight Dungeons you’ll instantly agree. Knight Dungeons has a fully customizable controller layout in addition to external controller support. It has a deep and varied stage catalog on top of tons of in game progress to keep you coming back. AND you can do it all for free, or you can give some of your hard earned money to a game developer that’s working hard to earn you money

This isn’t one of those games that constantly looks for u to buy in app purchases… which makes me love it even more!. If you liked the original, you won’t be disappointed… there is really no reason not to download it! I’m from the era of Mario Brothers and the pixel style games so it’s perfection!!

Plus who wants to have to worry about creepo’s lurking around the corner… Apple Knight 2 is for Cool kids! Nvm, that it’s pretty light on content and stuff to do. You just grind levels and get a small amount of coins to try and buy better gear that’s really expensive! And you gotta love they make you buy all the previous gear to unlock the new ones.. I mean you can probably get a few hundred coins if you play for an hour, but you’ll need 5,000 coins to buy the next weapon or skin and upgrade it 2 levels… But it’s cool!
Good game but missing somethings
Wed May 31 2023 ZekuranThis game is really good compared to the last one but I do wish that weapons in apple knight still had their abilities along with new weapons gaining new abilities and also wish that you could play as the female character I personally liked their designs more but other than those few things the game is great being able to knock back projectiles is really convenient and being able to attack in the air helps avoid getting hit, overall a good revamp of apple knight and hop to see more later

Fri Jan 03 2025 CongratsdevsI liked a lot about this game but some things were not so great first of all I liked now there is different move sets and stuff but the things that I didn’t like was this (I hope the developer reads this) I don’t like the new way weapon specials work it’s too unpredictable and uncontrollable I get it’s a new feature but it would be better if there was like a second button. Second why’d you remove the mystic heavy axe that thing was my favorite weapon And lastly and most important PLEASE bring back endless adventure oh and ultra hard mode please do :/
