2nd in Command: Bolt Action is a niche but incredibly useful tool for fans of the Bolt Action tabletop wargame. It’s not a 'game' in the traditional sense, but rather a digital assistant that streamlines the complex book-keeping of World War II miniature gaming. The interface is clean and historically themed, fitting perfectly with the aesthetic of the hobby.
The ability to quickly look up unit stats and manage army lists on the fly is a life-saver during high-intensity matches. It replaces the need to flip through multiple rulebooks, which keeps the game moving. For a tabletop player, this is an essential 'quality of life' improvement that lets you focus on the strategy and the minis rather than the math and the page numbers.
Complete unit database
Intuitive army list builder
Rulebook quick-reference

Regularly updated for new releases
Start by selecting your nation and theater. The app will automatically filter the available units based on the Bolt Action rulebook, ensuring your list is 'legal' for competitive play.
During a match, you can tap on a unit to see their current morale and weapon stats. This is much faster than checking a printed list and keeps your table clutter-free.
Yes, the app is regularly updated to include units and special rules for all major and minor powers featured in the Bolt Action rulebooks.
For anyone reading this review weighing the price versus the benefits, let me tell you: ITS WORTH IT. For instance, one bolt action Army book is $30-$35 and one Theater sourcebook is like $20-$30. YOU CAN LITERALLY GET EVERY SINGLE ARMIES BOOK aNd SOURCEBOOK FOR A COUPLE BUCKS. That combined with the fact that the devs are constantly updating the app with new Armies and expansions as Warlord Games releases them. I am an avid tabletop player and jeez this app is a godsend. I think that the price scares away many would-be consumers but give it a chance. If anything, just help out the devs by supporting them - these guys totally deserve it.
It’s a few bucks and now your list is 2 taps away. Simple easy to use. I believe it’s missing the ability to check if the list is legal but honestly this is supplemental to the rulebook and that aspect it’s perfect.
Price is well worth the cost of admission. I also ran into an issue and the developer responded and gave a fix within a day. Very impressed!
This app is excellent for organizing my bolt action army list. If you want a nice clean app that is thorough and simple to learn then this is the one. Nice job guys!
Very VERY solid list builder. My only gripe is you can't export your list (at least that I've found)
This is a great list builder and the developer is super responsive about bugs
