Nicely done

A very well made game that perfectly replicates the board game experience. The AI is actually strong than what u typically see with strategy game apps but a competent player will consistently win....although the games will be generally close. AI could be stronger if 1) command decision was utilized more frequently to retreat when odds are poor 2) stop wasting moves to add native Americans far in the frontier and away from the opponent 3) British AI adds too many new armies in Quebec and Nova Scotia, away from the main front Multiplayer format is solid but could be improved if 1) you could load and view the board when it's your opponent's turn and 2) make it "cheat proof" (player can exit mid turn and restart if not liking outcomes All in though a great game, worth the price

Really Good, Needs a Few More Options

I would like to have the option for complete domination where you have to completely eliminate your opponent. I would also like the option to speed up the AI.

Fun sub for board game

I have played this board game and others in the series many times with my kiddos. They don’t want to play simple games or the complicated Avalon Hill games I cut my teeth on; this is really a fun, balanced game system that is historically representative. Tactics are subtle and strategy is multifaceted. And fun. We don’t need 30 pages of eight font type rules to have fun.

Screen issue

My only issue is that it doesn’t fit my iPhone’s screen shape anymore since I upgraded; makes it hardly playable anymore. Other than that, the game is great! Please just fix this.

iPad Yes; iPhone No

This is a reasonably engaging light tabletop wargame. It’s one of very few apps in that niche. Its only demerit is a big one: It literally does not work on my iPhone because you cannot see certain in-game buttons.

Improper screen fitting

I give only a bad rating because the app doesn’t fit to my screen, I can never access the next turn button because it’s cut off by my screen. There is no settings in the game to adjust screen size or to fit. I am saddened that I spent my money on a game that I cannot play 😔 PLEASE FIX THIS OR SHOW ME HOW 🙏🏼

FINALLY - UPDATED AND EARNED FIVE STARS!!!

May 2017 update - v2.6 makes the game more user friendly than before: 10 stars! Thank you Andrew and team Hexwar for listening!!! Jan 14 update - Army size displays no longer disappear, finally... 5 stars!!! Dec 8 update - More good fixes! Just one more needed as the Army size boxes still disappear. Up to four stars! Nov 15 update - kudos to the Hexwar Dev team for responding to the issues I've encountered so far. We are in good hands!!! PROS: - Just as good as the board game. - Good replay value. CONS: - The game freezes once in a while. - The size of armies frequently disappears, and you're forced to re-zoom to see them. Very annoying when trying to plan moves and battles!!! - As fun as it is to watch the dice roll, they're often blocked by the top of the battle display frame - would be better if the dice appeared at the bottom of the screen.

Impossible to play even on a large format iPhone — only buy this if you have a big tablet to play on.
