Challenge your brain and connect with friends and family through Words With Friends!
A new Rewards Pass is always just around the corner, so check in every day to complete your Daily Goals and get rewards!
Also includes some minor bug fixes and security updates.
Words With Friends remains one of the most culturally significant mobile games for a reason. It perfectly captures the competitive spirit of Scrabble and optimizes it for the social, asynchronous nature of modern mobile use. As an expert in word games, I find the constant evolution of this app—from 'Solo Challenges' against themed WordMasters to the 'Word Wheel' mini-games—to be a masterclass in keeping a classic formula fresh. It's not just a game; it's a social platform that has connected millions of people through their love of language.
The 'Rewards Pass' and daily goals add a modern 'live service' feel that provides a steady stream of collectibles like unique Tile Styles and Profile Frames. While the free version does have a high frequency of ads, the core gameplay—unscrambling letters to find that high-scoring 'bingo'—remains as satisfying as ever. Whether you are playing a quick round against a stranger via Smart Match or engaged in a long-standing rivalry with a family member, it’s the ultimate brain-training exercise that rewards a large vocabulary and sharp strategic placement.
Classic crossword-style social gameplay
Smart Match to find perfect opponents instantly
Solo Challenge mode against themed WordMasters
Daily and weekly goals with Rewards Pass collectibles
Extensive customization with Stickers and Tile Styles
Always look for Double and Triple Letter/Word tiles. A short word like 'JO' on a Triple Letter tile is often worth more than a much longer word on standard tiles. Use the 'Word Strength' meter to see if there is a better move available before you play.
If you don't have any friends active, the Solo Challenge mode is a great way to earn rewards and practice. Each 'WordMaster' has a different playing style, helping you learn how to defend against high-scoring plays or manage a cramped board.
Word Wheel is a limited-time solo mini-game where you unscramble letters in an anagram-style puzzle to earn extra rewards.
This game is really fun to come up with words the best way you can to earn points. There’s only one problem I have with this game to complain about: there are certain words that are not valid when they really ARE in real life. For example, when you make a word that is in another language, it’ll say that it is not a valid word which doesn’t make any sense to me AT ALL. Because if you think about it, the only word that is valid is “Si” and for some weird reason when tried to make words that are in another language like “Oui” or “Hola” and what not, I was like, “ What do you mean it’s not a valid word, it’s a French word for ‘yes’,” or “it’s a Spanish word for hello!” In fact, what else doesn’t make sense is the fact that the game would accept only the word “Si” which both that and “Hola” are Spanish words which annoys me when they don’t accept words in another language that exists in that game.😔 That goes the same for the word “June” which is the name of a month. Not to mention that “May” is an acceptable word which one of the other names of a month and that it has a difference meaning. I also tried playing the word “Ohio” and it was not a valid word as well. I think state names need to be valid/playable words too. So with that being said, I believe that the creators of this game needs to change that for future updates. Creator for “Words With Friends,” if you’re reading this message, I humbly suggest fixing that please. Other than that, I’ve been playing this game frequently and I still enjoy it either way.
Used to encourage all my friends to sign up & play this fun and challenging word game. What happed? Why would you take away all the fun challenges that made this game such a success? If you know anything about gaming, you should know, iits no fun if you force someone to watch ads right in the middle of a game, and the games that you’re advertising aren’t even in the same league. They are goofy games that don’t require a brain or strategy. Then you must assume we’re all idiots, by never stop pushing that upgrade for $9.99. I finally gave into it, and paid the upgrade price, thinking you would finally quit hounding me. But oh no, the so called upgrade lasted one week, and started hounding me once again, like I had never paid. All a scam. Do you really want to be thought as a scam game? I don’t get it??? Another thing, players compete to win, and expect to be fairly rewarded. Now, you are so stingy with rewards, and inconsistent, so player gets excited about the win, and you only give a couple points. That is the worst feeling not to receive a decent and fair return for a win. Thought you must have sold the game to another company who didn’t have a clue how to grow the business. You are running this game into the ground…it’s no fun anymore, and makes me sad. I guarantee if you don’t make some changes, and bring back the real Words with Friends challenge, you will lose. Al’s
Look, I have played this game since it was released. I continually play at max number of games. When I try to watch videos for trophies or for daily word play I am unable to watch videos. It says they are unavailable or something went wrong. I understand there will be times that everything doesn’t work as you plan for it to, however, I’m not sure how many people are reporting this, but this happens way too much. I paid for the game however many years ago then, I get the rewards pass every month or so whenever that happens, I just don’t think I should continue to spend my money on things that don’t function properly. Also, while I have your attention, I’ve worked in the medical field all my life. Why are medical words not options to play a word? I feel limited on what I can use. This is the only game that I have played for this amount of time. Everything else I get bored with, and push it off to another page, or just delete it. Along with the fact that I do pay for the rewards pass, I do really enjoy this game and I don’t want to stop playing it but I want it to work. Please fix the video problem and ask your people what needs to be done to add some medical words. Also, could you please tell me what the secret is to guessing the word for the daily club puzzle? Thank you for your time and please get back with me. That would be great. Blessings, Stacey 💕🐾
I have been playing wwf since 2013 and I love playing, although I don’t play as much as I used to, because my time is limited these days. I play many games at once. I,like that you have made improvements in the game over the years, especially the swapping capability, even if you have to pay a little extra to get this feature. I’ve never played the solo games, and if I accidentally select this feature, the only way to get out of it is to resign, which counts as a loss, if I understand the rules of the game. This is extremely annoying, to say the least. Also, I don’t understand why you changed the leaderboard, and it now totally confuses me. I have no idea where I really stand. I liked the original leaderboard you had from the very beginning. Also, you used to give weekly goals for each player, and if you still do that, I have no idea where to find my weekly goal and how much time I have left to reach it. It was a great incentive for me to keep playing, and now I feel I’m on my own, and There’s no incentive to meet a weekly goal. I loved when you got 100:coins if you met your weekly goal. That was a great incentive to keep playing. Another big problem is the app keeps freezing on me, and I have to stop playing out of frustration. So I think you guys need to work on that glitch, because I know I’m not the only one experiencing this problem. I love this game and will continue to play, but I really hope you will consider my suggestions/complaints. Btw, I have the professional version, and it is worth every cent to not have to deal with the ads.
So I only gave this 3 stars because the app has a few problems. Otherwise it’s a pretty good game! I love that you can play games with tons of different people and that there are the solo challenges! But there are a few problems that get in the way. 1) There are ads after EVERY SINGLE TURN YOU TAKE. There is only one exception of this: the solo challenges. 2) sometimes I don’t even get my games when it’s my turn! I’ve had to lose countless games because it never came up that it was my turn! That i found was very annoying, and the only way that I’ve figured out how to find those games is if you log out and then log back in again. And every time you log out, even if it’s just for a second, you get all of these new player notifications, like it didn’t even realize you had been gone for a second. 3) sometimes, it says it’s my turn and then I can’t even play. It won’t let me click on games sometimes, I’ve tried reloading my app several times, and it never worked! And finally 4) the time limit on games. I think personally this is pretty annoying, you have like 10-12 days or something to play your turn, or you lose! I’m not trying to spend every day on this app! I’ve got other things to do, and sometimes I won’t come on the app for a week or more! But overall I do like the concept, but if those few things could get fixed, then I definitely would highly recommend this game. Thanks for taking the time to read this!
The ads are annoying enough without having to shut down your game just to get rid of them. This occurs with a game that has a panda or some sort of bear in it. There is no way to get out of this ad without having to close Words2. This makes for a good time for me to hang up the game for awhile. If I was an advertiser I would pull the ad. I have never, well maybe once or twice, tried a game because of some frustrating ad that wastes my time. Why don't you pull all the ads to the side or bottom of the screen? Then your real customers(your dedicated users)to continue to play. Or another thought, why don't you drop the prices for your in app purchases since times are tough? This might make a lot of people happy and it should increase the playing time. Otherwise I love the game, except when very similar authors try to sweet talk me into giving them my information. If I was single and looked like them I think I would not need your chat to find a mate. It's so obvious by the way they write that they are scripted and/or from other parts of the world, and most of them work as contract workers in a non US country on oil rigs BUT they live in the States! 🥱🥱And usually all you have to do is look at their profile to see they're lying. I had one person the other day that had thousands of points based on words and point tiles but had never won or lost a game, so I am thinking they let the game expire OR they manipulated their profile somehow! Anyway the feature to block the chat is a plus!
I have been playing this game on and off (mostly on) since 2012. I like the many features they’ve developed over the years, and I enjoy having a chance to do solo challenges while I wait for other people to play me back. I accept challenges from friends and strangers alike. One area where I start to get frustrated though is with the chat. It seems a huge portion of the random people that try to start a game with me always want to start asking me questions about myself, and if I mute the chat so that I can Play The Game, they quit playing. It gets to be rather annoying. Also, I’ve noticed it seems like after I get a good streak going in the Solo Challenges against the Word Masters in one week, the next week it becomes almost impossible to beat. The letter choices become terrible and the “Word Masters” play ridiculous words. And it stays like this for weeks. It feels like I’m being shoved in the direction of buying coins to use the Power-Ups, otherwise I can’t beat the Word Masters, and have to wait for eight long hours for a chance to rematch. And if you lose again, you have to wait another eight hours. Too long in my opinion, when you have to beat ten of them in a week. When coins are easier to get, either by watching ads or whatever, it isn’t so bad. But with that feature taken away and the only way to get enough to move forward is to buy them, I’m out. Also, my Practice Mode game has been glitched out and unable to be played or closed out for OVER TWO HUNDRED DAYS. For 239 days as I’m writing this.
I’ve always loved this game, long before ads were a thing in it, but I understand that money needs to be made so the advertisements are not a big deal. My issue is that I’ll be in the middle of playing and often times instead of a normal ad popping up my phone will automatically open up “safari” and one of those scam pop ups that say things like “your phone has a virus!” will appear. This happens literally every time I’m playing for more than 10 minutes. I know my phone doesn’t have a virus and I know that this is only happening because of the ads in Words with Friends. Whoever is in charge of determining what ads are allowed to pop up needs to do a better job because I don’t like being worried that my phone is going to somehow be hacked by whatever company is sharing this scam via Words with Friends. I now disconnect my phone from WiFi anytime I play, and always erase all data on Safari whenever this happens. It’s something I shouldn’t have to worry about while playing a game that I’ve played for almost a decade. I recently had to deal with fraudulent charges made through Meta on my bank account, I don’t even have Facebook so I’ve never used Meta before, because of that the scammy pop ups/ads that say my phone is under attack and has malware tend to really stress me out. I have no idea if they’re going to somehow get my personal info due to permissions requested by Words with Friends, and even though I’m sure that’s not possible it’s just not something that should be happening in the first place.
