We're Not Really Strangers (WNRS) is less of a 'game' and more of a digital conduit for human connection. Based on the viral card game, the app translates the experience of deepening relationships into a beautifully minimalist interface. The genius lies in the three-level structure: Perception, Connection, and Reflection. It forces you to move past small talk and confront the way you see others and yourself.
Using the app feels intimate; the haptic feedback and clean typography make the heavy questions feel like they have space to breathe. Whether you're playing with a long-term partner or a new acquaintance, the 'Dig Deeper' cards are particularly effective at breaking down social barriers. It is a rare digital experience that actually encourages you to look away from your phone and into the eyes of the person sitting across from you. In an age of superficial social media, WNRS is a necessary tool for genuine vulnerability.
Three Levels of Intimacy
Specialized Themed Decks
Digital Note-taking Feature
Minimalist Design
Start by selecting a deck that fits your current social setting. Use the 'Healing' deck for self-reflection or the 'Date' deck to explore romantic potential.
At the end of each session, both players are prompted to write a handwritten note to one another. In the app, you can save these digital 'notes' to look back on later.
While designed for two or more people, the 'Self-Reflection' deck is specifically tailored for individual growth.
I like the idea of the game and it does ask some very thought evoking questions to get you to think about things that you might not have thought about on your own. Some of the spicy variations are decent. I do wish that they have a more variety of questions on getting to know the other person a lot of times it felt like we were just circling certain questions to the kept on popping up.
Not bad could use a QA team
I feel like it could use more automation that adapts to the settings you choose. For example, if you’re playing with just your spouse, the cards should automatically adjust to a two-player setup instead of defaulting to a group mode. And honestly, it would be great if they created a version tailored specifically for married couples, especially for the spicy edition.
Loved this game until everytime I open the app after buying the 1 year subscription last month it keeps trying to charge me again. When I press the “contact us” button it gives me an error message saying “mailbox not available”. Someone please help??? This shouldn’t be happening and it’s very irritating that I paid $30 and almost all game features are locked.
The idea was to connect long distance, but it doesn’t happen since only one person can see the app, and questions. The app is great and wish this can be updated. Can I get help in this regard please so that it prompts players to login from the app.
Lotta spelling errors. Free version is fine but $30 is nuts
I’ve emailed them so many times to cancel my subscription and they haven’t gotten back to me. I feel like i got scammed lol
The app keeps crashing on me I can’t open it more than 5 min without it crashing :/
