We're always working hard to make Virtual Families: Cookoff better for our players! This update includes under the hood additions and bug fixes. Thanks for playing!
I enjoy the game overall but the timed levels have major issues! I find that most of the times, the customers are served right away with no wait yet I fail and then forced to use chef hats or play over and over again until I win. It becomes very frustrating. I also have a problem with Canadian section. I press the microwave a lot and it doesn’t back any cookies during fast paced levels. You also have customers that appear immediately asking for the colored cookies that aren’t made yet because we don’t have a choice which colors get made which is also annoying. The microwave constantly has issues at high levels which causes me to lose a lot. Level 69 has a huge issue as well. I served all customers immediately and have constantly coming up short on points then forced to watch an ad for three more customers which I do and then fail again and now asking to BUY hats to continue which won’t happen! Please fix the issues and it would be a lot more fun. I appreciate that you have much different food from most of the other cooking games which makes your app a lot more interesting. Thank you!
I really like this game. The levels ramp up their challenge in a nice way. However, the games says you can change the upgrades on the houses anytime but when I try to change them it only allows me to change the siding every time no matter what I tap on the house; which is very annoying since I want to change the windows. It also charges you chef hats to change stuff so I “paid” to change it thinking then I’d be able to change something else then paid to change it back because it still wasn’t what I wanted. So just know if you pick something on the remodel even if it’s a mistake you’re stuck with it. Other than that the game is extremely fun and satisfying. Update: As I’ve been playing the game more it’s glitching more. Some of the items are not cooking when tapped, especially the first time they’re being activated. I tried different levels to see if it was a new challenge for that level and it’s the same items each time. This results on items burning or not being as efficient in game play making playing less satisfying and fun. If you loose because you loose that’s one thing but to loose because the game is glitching is extremely annoying. Also, MAJOR issue is when you go to get app support you’re taken to a website that doesn’t list this game and has no way to contact the developers for this specific game. That’s really crappy. If this game keeps glitching and this issue gets worst I’m going to delete it.
This game is fun and all but I can truly tell that some of the levels/rounds are designed for you to fail. For instance they’ll give you a short time frame to serve a certain number of customers. For one, the customers take forever to walk up to you, two, the countdown takes away a few seconds automatically. Three, when the requirement (for example) is 35 dishes in 60 seconds, they’ll sometimes purposely add in a bunch of customers that only want one or two things, causing you to easily fail and have to spend your chef hats for more time. Also, when the goal is to reach a certain amount, customers would buy the cheapest stuff!!! It doesn’t matter how fast I give each of them the item. I understand you guys have to make money somehow but STOP DOING IT THIS WAY!!!! ANOTHER thing I want CHANGED is how some levels would make you serve A BUNCH of customers, most of the time only wanting one thing. There was a level where I had to serve OVER A HUNDRED CUSTOMERS!!! THAT’S INSANE!!! PLEASE TAKE THAT OFF OF THE GAME!! EVEN SERVING 60 IS OBSURD, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE PAY OUT IS NO DIFFERENT THAN SERVING 20 CUSTOMERS WITH ABOUT 60 DISHES!! And reading the past reviews just lets me know that you guys don’t care about our opinions because I read the same kind of complaints that I have from MONTHS AGO!! FIX IT ALREADY!!! Once this stuff is changed/fixed, I’ll give 5 stars :)
The game cheats as you go higher in level. For an example, if the goal is to reach a threshold of money.... each customer will come in requesting one item and it’s always the cheapest item. Even if you serve them ahead of time and get tips, you still won’t make a goal. I think the company’s main goal is for you to watch ads or pay chef hats so that they can make revenue. On the other hand when the goal is to get a certain set of likes, the customers are fast in when coming in and they order multiple items so that it is impossible to fulfill with a thumbs up. On top of that, it takes a while to even upgrade the cheapest supply or ingredient. The game would also be more fulfilling if it is offline. I don’t see the reason why the internet is required. It’s not like you have neighbors to visit or have anything to do with the internet except to watch ads or pay for chef hats. This game was fun at first, but the further you go the more the goals becomes unrealistic to the point that you delete the game like I did. Even when you watch ads for customer boosts or time, it still slows the amount of customers coming in and still gives the customers the cheapest items to buy. I love difficulty. I just don’t love when the company tries to take advantage of a game through ads and cash.
I was really excited about playing this game because it combined cooking AND home renovation, but after playing what seemed like way too many levels, I’d still only “fixed” like 4 or 5 things on my FIRST HOUSE. Y’all have dragged this game out wayyyy too much! I’ve officially lost interest! The game itself isn’t too hard; I’m completing the levels, but you require way too much just to do a tiny amount of renovation. If you want people to keep playing this game, you might want to make the actual renovation part happen more quickly and require less levels to be completed before allowing renovations. I mean geez! Will be deleting this game from my phone once I post this review. Also, stop replying to the reviews people make here with “contact such and such support and they’ll be happy to fix this issue”! Um, no, I won’t be doing that. I’ve just told you my issue HERE. If I am already fed up with this after posting this review, why on Earth would I waste MORE of my time by attempting to contact you guys?? You cannot be serious! Telling people in the replies of these reviews that if we’d just contact yet another party to complain about our issue, that our issue MIGHT get fixed, is absolutely INFURIATING
Awesome, awesome game. However, once you get higher in the levels and have “like” levels, the customers come in way too slowly for the level to be winnable. I’m seeing the developers responses on here to similar reviews that the levels are tested rigorously to ensure that every level is winnable- that’s garbage. If everyone is complaining about the same issue, fix it. Don’t give a BS excuse. How in the world do we beat a level that you’re intentionally making the characters move too slowly? I’ve played so many games like this and I don’t mind difficulty in a game, even if I get stuck on a level. I’ve stayed stuck on levels for over a month and I’m fine with it. I’m only a few days in on this game and I’m ready to shelve it because these levels are blatantly created to make you spend money. When I come across a game that shoves you into microtransactions to advance, I refuse to give them any money. Other similar games I will shell out money here and there because I get that developers need to get paid. TLDR- stop making excuses and fix this and you’ll have a phenomenal game with happy payers. Keep making excuses and people- like me- will delete and not come back.
Some timed levels are unfair. Especially the ones that are timed and need thumbs up to complete. No levels should require boosts to complete. I think some testing on levels that require thumbs up in timed levels to verify this and I’m always short of 5 customers before time runs out. Boosts should never be a requirement to complete a level. It should only be used to make a level easier. Also, the mechanics of the game is so strange. The game can’t determine which dish to add toppings to complete for the customer. Once you put the topping on, if it happens to be on the last one, you’re screwed since adding a second topping to the last one is impossible since the mechanics will only shift the added toppings to the bottom first as it’s the first dish. Say you made a mistake with a topping that happens on the first dish (bottom), you can’t change to a different topping and put it on the next dish (middle) without it first combining with the first dish (bottom). This is the worst mechanism in these games when the game can’t recognize which combos are require to complete orders without first forcing you to waste whichever dish happens to be located first in the row.
Update: Below in quotes is my original review. Since then, I’ve been told to contact the customer support team for the game play issue. What I’m not fond of is not having the first part of my review responded to or even acknowledged. Doesn’t leave a good feeling at all. “I do really enjoy playing this game. Do the families change at some point? When I downloaded the game initially, I did so because it advertised a black family which you don’t typically see and I liked that. But then I start the game and it’s not the family I saw.. Also I have tons of issues with the game not registering my clicks. It’s like I’ll have to click 3,4,5 times on something for the food to move to the plate or to get it to a customer which causes problems with meeting the goals, especially timed ones. I don’t know if it’s because of how the food is situated/laid out. Maybe it’s all too close or something. But it gets pretty frustrating when you have to click on a steak MULTIPLE times to get it off the grill and then proceed to do this for the other two and hope the last one doesn’t burn by the time you get to it.”
