Added Haptic Feedback, now when you press a button the game now gives you tactile feedback.
Vintage Football is a masterclass in niche sports simulation, transporting players back to the 1860s when football was a gentleman’s game of strategy and grit. The hand-drawn art style is breathtaking, reminiscent of old newspaper sketches, which perfectly complements the turn-based tactical gameplay. Unlike modern Madden-style games, this focuses on positioning, formation management, and the limitations of early rules, making every yard gained feel like a hard-fought victory.
The learning curve is slightly steep because you aren't just playing football; you're learning a historical version of it. However, once you grasp the importance of the 'offside' rules of the era and how to effectively use your scrum, the depth is incredibly rewarding. It’s a slow-burn experience that rewards patience and tactical foresight. My only gripe is that the UI can feel a bit cluttered on smaller devices, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it. It’s a must-play for sports historians and strategy fans alike.
Authentic 1860s rule set
Stunning Victorian-style hand-drawn graphics
Deep turn-based tactical engine
Historical team management and progression
In the 1860s rules, your players must stay behind the ball. Focus on moving your line as a unit rather than sending a lone striker forward, or you will constantly be flagged for offside.
Each turn allows you to move specific players. Use your strongest men to push the pile and create gaps for your runners. Defensive positioning is key to preventing long kicks.
No, it is a turn-based strategy game focused on the historical origins of the sport rather than real-time action.
Seems as though the defensive players move too quickly. Not sure how to control whether to kick a field goal or punt.
This developer is awesome. Had an issue early in with the new 11 Pro runnin iOS 13 and he fixed it in ONE Day! That’s unheard of super response. Give this game your $1.99. So worth it to support developers like this one.
Game is pretty much what I remembered. I wish we could return kickoffs and kick field goals. When I try it seems like it’s a pint instead.
Need instructions - could be a great game. Remember the Mattel hand held?
Almost like the game I played when younger. I can’t find the haptic or sounds so if it does then someone let me know. If it doesn’t then it needs it for sure.
This brings back memories. Take a stroll down memory lane! Electronic football!
