Trainz Simulator 3 brings a level of fidelity to mobile rail-roading that we haven't seen before. As someone who has played the PC versions for years, I was skeptical about how the complex controls would translate, but N3V Games has done a brilliant job. The 'Driver' mode is accessible but still offers the depth of controlling independent brakes, throttles, and switches. The graphics have seen a significant leap, with more detailed environments and much better lighting effects.

The real heart of Trainz has always been the 'Surveyor' mode, and it's surprisingly usable on a tablet. Being able to lay down track and build a custom route while sitting on your couch is incredibly cool. The library of locomotives is already impressive, and the promise of more content via the store makes this a long-term hobbyist's dream. It’s the most complete and polished train simulator on the App Store right now, bar none.

Great game, awkward UI

First off, this is the most advanced train sim I’ve seen for iOS to date. It has great lighting, shadows, locomotive & rolling stock design and textures and immersive audio. To me, the user interface feels a bit clunky and awkward to use. For example, the important secondary controls like horn & whistle are in a separate menu called the “action menu” that you have to toggle to to use. And when you toggle to the action menu, you lose control of the main controls, even though it doesn’t cover much of the screen. There is often a noticeable lag when toggling between the main controls and one of the menus. Oh, and the whistle gets stuck at times. Also, when you are dynamic braking and have the train info menu at the bottom left toggled to display one of the two infographics other than the speed indicator, the little speed indicator in the upper right corner of the screen that helps you keep track of the speed limit disappears and just says “Dynamic break engaged” or something similar. Just a couple of little things that annoy me about how the UI is designed but other than that the game Itself is wonderful!! Hopefully easy fixes someday?

Basically I’ve been going over like maps you should add an even trains so I’ll put it into three categories category one is trains basically what you should add in this category are E8-E9s FP45’S SDP40Fs P30CH Acela Express and plus adding new haven engines category two is subways and commuter line to be honest I’m pretty sure you should act like a map called Chicago underground were you would only get 2 trains CTA 3200 and the 6000. Now we move onto the second Subway map WMARTA lines you only get like the WMARTA trains IRL. ETC now we move onto the commuter services you should probably add metra coaster Amtrak California MBTA commuter rail and New Jersey transit category three is the maps basically The first map you should add is North east corridor 1972 if you download this map you’ll get Amtrak GG1 Penn central GG1 and NJT GG1 Penn Central metro liner and Amtrak Metroliner The starting is at Norfolk Virginia and the end is at Grand Central and New York Penn station and speaking of which you should add Subway world The trains you’ll be using to download subway world will be The ones you see at Subway systems IRL. For the second map it will be Port Lake Michigan yard when you download it you’ll get three new trains and GP9 a RS3 and a Seaboard system Nw2 switcher there’s another thing you should add in the game amfleets and Heritage coaches also you should add like Norfolk Southern and Norfolk Southern heritage units and also Amtrak heritage unit even Union pacific heritage unit so yeah you can add anything that comes to your mind. Overall I think it’s a great game i’m pretty sure the graphics defeated MSTS22 your competitor I think this is a great game overall.

More trains,maps,and add derailments

Hello. I’m here to talk about more trains,maps,and adding derailments. First off,more trains. The rail fans who play this wonderful game all have requested that U.S.A Big Boy and #844 need to come to the game. Also with the Blue Comet,Pennsylvania Railroad T1 4-4-4–4 and K4, along with some S2 and Q3s. Next is the maps. If you guys could get New York and New Haven line, and the Pennsylvania electric lines, with the Gg1 and coaches to complete the entire thing, I bet you will get more downloads. Derailments are next, and guess what? I’m tired of crashing trains and there is no derailment. You crash a train into a stalled one at full speed and it merely just stops and put the X over it, telling us the train has crashed. Add derailments so when a train crashes it falls off the track, goes down in a ditch, or even goes on its side. I will not rate this game 5 stars until I see improvements and what us player have been begging ever since this game came out in 2020. My friends are also rail fans and they wanna rate this game a 3, so I’m trying to help you guys. Add these improvements and I’ll make sure my friends and me rate this game a 5. Overall Great, but with several bugs

N3V, this game is great. I downloaded Trainz Simulator 2 when it was introduced, and I was wondering what the next one would be. Well, TS3 is a massive upgrade. The graphics are amazing; the content is more realistic; and the maps are more enjoyable. Having different HUD displays for speed and gradients truest simplifies the driving experience. I enjoy the realistic sounds of the EMD SD70 and C40-8W; it feels spectacular. But in the midst of success, there are still a few bugs. When you load the game, it immediately throws you into a world (the tutorial or one you were playing earlier). It seems rather annoying and more chaotic compared to TS2s interface. There are some problems with saving worlds as well. Sometimes I do not want to save progress; however, when I reload the session, it resumes right where something happened (I.e, a train derailment). I know you guys are working to fix them, but I’m hoping they get fixed before releasing a World Builder; the game would be more enjoyable with the bugs fixed. Outstanding job overall, and best of luck on future developments.

I kind of agree with the last guy. Please give American Rail fans what they want after this current span of European trains. I would like to see Union Pacific 4014, 844, and other UP based locomotives. The SP 4449 in it’s Daylight Colors with matching coaches and maybe a Forward Cab loco. Would be cool if you want to add some SP locos. If you gonna add a region maybe do a Cheyanne Wyoming based region with the UP Steam team workshop. That way a UP based region could make sense. You guess placed CSX in multiple regions already. Give some love to the UP fans. If you want to stay making East Coast American regions at least add more N&W locos. Like the 611 and many other N&W Steam and diesel locos that way the 2-8-8-4 you already have in the game can have other locos to give her company. But other than what I want to see add. Please make placing railway cars and locos quicker. When I place a locomotive that is quick and easy. But if I want to make a long train I have to repeat the process. After a while the process can get a little taxing to the player. Maybe don’t make us press so many buttons to place one train car.

First off this is a great game, but they are some maps (Yellowstone) that have bugs. Yellowstone has a bug where if you go to free drive and click on a train it teleports you into the 2-D map and you can’t move anything until you zoom in. And when you zoom in there’s no track. and that really makes me mad because I really want to try that map so please developers please read this and fix the bug. OK now I have some suggestions first I have some steam engines I want you to add can you please add a big boy you had it in every single game except this one can you please add the Reading T –1 and on top of that can you just please add the 844 Thank you. OK now I have one more suggestion can you please add a map editor I’m pretty sure you have an all your PC games and your older mobile games. It be really cool if you added a editor OK that’s all I have great game but please fix the bug and please add the editor and those locomotives thank you:):):):)

White screen of death

Honestly this is a good game, but the reason I’m rating it 3/5 stars is because there are some bugs and missing stuff. First one and the most important one is the white screen of death. Like you play the game for a while or something then it kicks you out of the game. When you reopen it, you get a white screen, making the game unplayable and having to reinstall it. This has happened to me many times before and I would like this bug fixed. Second one are the derailments, you seriously couldn’t do any better than Trainz 2. Trainz 2 has WAY better derailments than this game. All that happens when you derail on this game is it just shows the yellow x on top of the whole train and it just sits there. There is something missing from the game also. The time and weather selection. It would be nice if we could change the time and weather again. But the biggest missing thing is the route builder. Route builder on this game would be SO good. Like seriously, with all this stuff imagine what people will make! Honestly, Trainz 3 needs a lot of improvements.

Needs a new update ASAP

Not sure if anyone is monitoring these reviews because this maybe my third or fourth review with a 1 star rating for the app and I never see my review posted nor have I heard from the developer. Anyways this app needs a new update cause every single time I try to redownload the content that I have purchased in game the app freezes or glitches and then I restart it only to be met by a white blank screen. I thought at first this was problem with my phone and that I needed more storage space but after upgrading I see now it wasn’t the phone but the app itself. I even tried the whole restart the app and give it 10-15 minute for it to start and then I am right back where I started. I have tried that suggestion twice after facing the same issue. Seriously N3V games it has been 2 years since you updated the app and now it is having serious issues especially when a lot of us waited for this app to be released and now none of us can play the app without any issues with it. You need to update this game and fix this bug cause I really like this app but hate that there has been no resolution to the issues that need to be resolved.
