Touch Pianist is a unique musical instrument and 'toy' that allows anyone to perform hard-to-play classical piano favorites. By simply tapping the rhythm of a piece's sound events on your screen, you take control of the performance. You are the pianist, deciding the timing, tempo, and expression of works by legendary composers like Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Satie, and Debussy. It’s an intuitive, relaxing, and creative experience that brings the world of classical music to your fingertips in a way that is both accessible and deeply personal.

Our Expert Score

83/100

Touch Pianist is a beautiful 'musical toy' that bridges the gap between listening to classical music and performing it. It’s not a traditional rhythm game where you're punished for missing a note; instead, it puts you in control of the 'performance' of masterpieces by Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and more. By simply tapping the screen, you control the timing and dynamics of the notes. If you tap faster, the piece accelerates; if you tap softer, the music responds. It’s an incredibly intuitive way to feel the 'rhythm' of complex compositions without needing years of piano lessons.

The selection of music is curated perfectly, spanning from Satie's haunting 'Gymnopédies' to Debussy's ethereal 'Clair de Lune.' The visual feedback is minimalist and elegant, allowing you to focus entirely on the sound events you're triggering. It’s a relaxing, almost meditative experience that turns your mobile device into a high-end instrument. For anyone who loves classical music or simply wants a unique, creative way to interact with sound, Touch Pianist is a total delight.

I’m very confused
Fri Mar 10 2023 Lana bobbelhead

I confused and I don’t know what happend. when I played on my chrome it showed me a song to play but when I downloaded it on my IPad it showed a dark blue screen? I don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to be, and I don’t know how to select other songs or if I can only play the selected song. I hope some one can find a solution.

I don’t know what happend

I’ve had permission at school (I’m a minor) to play this on our school laptops, the images of the visuals showed up perfectly fine and there wasn’t much lag. But after I downloaded this at home on my Apple IPad and clicked on the tutorial song, the visuals were just a dark blue void (but still playable). I liked seeing the notes and chords I would be playing instead of tapping blindly at my screen. It was calming and fun to play on my school laptop, seeing all the soft colors on the screen and only having to click. But on my iPad it was frustrating and not calming because I was more used to something ACTUALLY on the screen, it’s just kinda disappointing to me. You don’t have to listen to this but if your downloading on mobile, be prepared for a literal void of clicking with music and no visuals.

Ingenious App, if only it worked

After discovering this ingenious creation online, I rushed over to the app store and bought some song sets only to find out it won’t work on ANY of my apple devices. The website used to have some limited free access but unfortunately the developer seems to have shut that off with a message prompting you to download the apps, the same apps that do not appear to work on any modern version of ios. Very frustrating. This is a brilliant creation that brought me a lot of joy (in the short time I got to experience the limited access) and it’s a shame that almost no one gets to experience it now.

I wish this would be updated for my iPad

This, for the longest time, was my comfort app. Whenever I was sad or anxious, I would open it and “play” a song. I even requested Scenes from Childhood and they added it! Unfortunately, as the years have gone by, the images no longer apear clearly (they’re super glitchy) and the sound is sometimes odd. I wish there would be an update every so often so i could keep using this without all the glitches.

I stumbled upon this app through my pc, which was wonderful to play on. I bought this for by iPad and was disappointed in the fact I had to pay for extra songs… but did it anyway. Soon after I got it, the visuals disappeared when my iPad updated. I love this app. Recommendation: know the music before you play it. That’s why you can “watch” the computer play it (only by ear because of lost visual keys).

Really Bad

Okay. I get the game needs money to be free. BUT IF I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WHOLE GAME(yes I know the first movement of moonlight sonata is free) I would rather pay up front immediately. My bank account got closed for buying too much. You need to make something free. P.S. rating 5 star so it doesent go to the end of the lineup.

Could be better
Fri Jan 26 2024 amazing 100% but addictive

This app really helps with tempo and relaxation but unlike my Chromebook, it doesn’t show me playing it on my phone. It would also be nice if we had more songs to play, maybe if you watched an AD to unlock the songs so that the game still produces money while being more enjoyable.

The ads are awful!
Mon Jul 20 2015 marcintosh

I don't mind ads on a free app, but these ads are awful. Every time you go back to the main menu you get an ad and every ad has video. And since you have the sound turned up to hear the app the video is really loud. My choices are buy a song or delete the app. It really feels like bait and switch to have to pay to get rid of an unpleasant experience.
