The Very Hungry Caterpillar™ & Friends First Words is an adorable preschool learning app that introduces early learners to over 80 words across 13 categories. StoryToys has a knack for turning Eric Carle’s iconic artwork into something magical, and First Words is no exception. It’s essentially a 3D pop-up book brought to life. Watching the caterpillar or a farm animal pop out of the page in 3D is consistently delightful for toddlers, and the interaction is simple enough that they can navigate it without constant parental help.
The educational value is high here because it combines visual, auditory, and textual learning. When a child taps an object, they hear the word and see it written. The inclusion of multiple languages like Spanish and French also makes it a great early-introduction tool for bilingual households. It’s gentle, beautiful, and completely devoid of the aggressive ‘gamification’ that ruins many other kids' apps.

No sound on iPad 3
Sun Dec 13 2015 The Day DooNo sound at all on iPad 3 and tells me that mute is on but other apps work fine. Also have an iPad Air 2 that works fine, but the older one is supposed to be for the toddler to use. Refund, please!
