The Rhymatory is a breath of fresh air in the mobile word game market. In a sea of 'Wordle' clones and ad-infested puzzles, this game stands out for its sheer charm and creativity. The rhyming mechanic is surprisingly clever—some are easy, but others require a genuine 'Eureka!' moment to figure out.
The art style is what really sold me. It has a warm, storybook quality that fits the 'cozy' vibe perfectly. The animal companions are endearing, and the whole steampunk-tea-party aesthetic is incredibly soothing. It’s the perfect game to play before bed or during a quiet commute. It’s smart, it’s funny, and it’s clearly made with a lot of love. If you enjoy puns and wordplay, this is an easy recommendation.
Over 300 unique, hand-crafted rhyming riddles
Premium ad-free experience with no in-app purchases
Beautiful hand-drawn steampunk-inspired illustrations
Cozy, stress-free gameplay with a robust hint system
Read each riddle carefully for context clues. If a riddle mentions a 'large boat' and a 'heavy rain,' try looking for rhyming pairs like 'Large Barge.' If you get stuck, use the hint system to reveal the first letter of each word.
The game is divided into themed 'flights.' Solving a set number of riddles allows your airship to reach a new destination. There are no timers, so you can enjoy the hand-drawn art and tea-brewing interludes between puzzles.
No, it is a premium game with no ads and no in-app purchases.
I came to The Rhymatory after playing Pondersa Games's delightful Catagrams. This new word game has a unique blend of techniques that really piqued my interest; I especially enjoyed the hint system, which is helpful but not too quick to give an answer away. The hand-drawn illustrations and animations are extremely charming and put me in the mood for a cup of tea- it is both challenging and satisfying in a way I have never experienced before, which is an achievement as most mobile games are repetitive to each other in terms of style and play. I look forward to playing future pieces from Ponderosa Games and definitely recommend it to all my friends who love puzzles!
This app is challenging but satisfying to play! The tutorial was helpful with some sample hints with answers to help get you off on the right foot. Sometimes I get the correct rhyming words right off the bat and others take more pondering and head scratching. In that case, to avoid frustration, there are various hints that can be used. I like the “sounds like” one, but if all else fails you can just get the answer. The rhymes are clever and it’s fun to solve and see the answers! Soothing background music, whimsical drawings and some surprises if you click on some of the lamps. Great job on this game by an indie developer!
I like games that make you think so I can stay sharp. This does that in a fun way.
