Our Expert Score

87/100

The Creeps! 2 takes the charm of the original and polishes it to a brilliant shine. It retains that unique 'nursery-nightmare' aesthetic where you’re fighting monsters under the bed with toy blasters, but the strategic depth has been significantly ramped up. The move to 3D graphics gives the levels a lot more personality without losing the classic feel.

The level design is where the game really shines. It’s not just about building towers; it’s about managing the environment. Having to clear obstacles like gravestones or trees to make room for your defenses adds a layer of 'resource management' that most tower defense games lack. It’s accessible for kids but has enough complexity in the later 'Insane' modes to satisfy seasoned strategy veterans.

Love the game, please fix the “give up” button

Great game but I have accidentally hit “give up” countless times and lost all my progress on a star challenge game that I’m hours into. Anytime you have to answer a call, switch to another app or anything on the phone, when you come back to the game the screen initially looks like you left it... then you go to upgrade a tower or touch somewhere in the middle of the screen, and the “give up” button pops up after a small delay, meaning you hit that instead by accident... losing all your progress. How about another screen after this one that asks “Are you sure?” like other programs/games, so that if you accidentally hit the button you can correct it. This also happens with the flying saucer purchase button occasionally, making me lose hard earned gems I didn’t intend to spend. Thx.

Disappointed fan of the 1st

To the developer: Dude, what happened?? 8 or 9 years later and this stripped-down version is what came out? Where is the diversity? Challenges? Difficulties? Superpowers? Scoring system? Battery boosters? Grueling insanely difficult battles that would last forever and when you lost it sucked because you had tried so hard and gotten so far. I can’t believe you didn’t even integrate a basic scoring system into this one. There is absolutely no replay value to this as there is nothing to drive the player to go back and play the game. The player doesn’t even have to get good as they can just play a previous stage for five minutes and get enough gems to apply damage boosts to their towers and walk right through the next stages. You didn’t even bother trying to come up with new character designs. You literally took the same exact basic characters and obstacles from the first game’s Halloween and Dinosaur stages and applied a generic 3D mesh that actually hurts the game in that it is frustrating when trying to place or upgrade towers, and even the pause button takes a couple tries to select. Lame man, really lame...

Can’t get anywhere without spending a ton of money on gems. Loved the first game.

It was a huge fan of the first creeps game really good challenge and just a great game. This one they somehow managed to mess up horribly. the difficulty is all over the place. It pretty much all of it just comes down to farming for actual money. you end up getting stuck on levels and not being able to progress, unless you pay out a ton of actual money. sometimes even something like level four you get stuck. I told myself a long time ago I would never pay it pay for a game that does that to you. I would be more than happy to pay $10 for a full game. An actual fully functional game, which this game is not, unless you feed it money. no way am I playing another money farming game. Are there no developers anymore that sell fully functional games anymore, that function without having to buy gems constantly? Is it not profitable to sell full games that don’t try to hustle people? I don’t mind when add-ons cost money but I definitely won’t touch games that make you keep paying to finish the game.

Interesting sequel, but too hard

As a huge fan of the original (I still play it when bored), I still love that there’s a sequel, but the levels where there’s no path to follow and the weapon leveling system just make for a game that’s less about planning and skill than Gem farming. I accidentally agreed to a time warp on world 7 because I forgot what level I left on and instantly regretted it because it was the only world where all levels came unlocked with the latest update. And it hit me, I’ll never play the later levels because I just don’t have the patience to gem farm to get my weapons strong enough to try to beat the impossible levels and move on. It’s wonderful that the sequel exists and I think it’s phenomenal that the developer puts out so many updates. The Creeps! Is to this day probably the best game to hit the App Store. And the AR is kinda cool, but I just wish it had the same feel as the first game and it was easier to figure out what you’re doing wrong in levels that seem impossible.

Farming has ruined a favorite!

After three months of playing this I can’t take it anymore. I am saddened and very upset you’ve gone to a farming for gems to upgrade weapons kind of game AND made it even worse because upgraded weapons don’t transfer to the next world (which there are MANY!!) I could easily download the cheat that makes for unlimited gems but then the game is so off kilter that’s even less fun on a whole if you cheat. Back to the original I have to go - which is going on more than 5 years of playing and it’s SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. Massive failure for a hardcore fan. Mad & Sad! 😖 3 stars because I hope you will try again WITHOUT the brain dead farming component!

Still a great developer

I loved the first one and I love this one. Easily my favorite tower defense style game. My only complaint is that you can’t select enemies as you could in the first game. This adds an annoying level of difficulty when going for 3 stars on a level because a faster enemy can breeze by with no warning. You have to have stupidly overcompensate power to kill the slow ones and reach the fast in time. It isn’t challenging it’s just annoying and frustrating especially since you could target specific enemies in the first game. But when that’s your biggest complaint you have to admit it’s a fun and well made game. Thanks to the developer and I can’t wait for the new levels. Great job.

I’ve been waiting for this moment...

The original The Creeps! has been my favorite mobile game for years. I bought every expansion and mastered every level of every mode. It took years to do this and I cherish every moment. Eventually they added micro-transactions and they were the most reasonable implementation of MT’s I’ve ever seen. The sequel stays true to that and I couldn’t be more stoked. So when I saw that the sequel was out, you can imagine my excitement. While the presentation varies tremendously from the original, the sequel maintains the charm and strategic options that I loved from the first with several new mechanics that add rather than subtract from the experience. Please support this game and this team. If you love it like I do, throw them some love and a few bucks to let them know. I can’t wait to see how they add to and evolve it over time. Two things I’d like to see eventually: 1. Bring back the option to target individual enemies as in the original. 2. I would love to see console ports eventually. Consoles are severely lacking in solid tower defense titles. Thanks for bringing back The Creeps!

Every bit as fun as the original!

This game is a blast. I hope that more levels are in development. I absolutely adored the original The Creeps which had an addicting fun factor with its Tower Defense with a bit of a twist. I love that the pieces of the environments are destroyable (and can actually change your gameplay. The strategies to get 3-stars are super-fun. The only thing that isn’t explained are the upgrades and what differences they make. It doesn’t take away from the fun though. More levels are needed too. 40 is a great start, but it just leaves me thirsty for more. Looking forward to new mind twisting excellent strategy from Super Squawk! Keep it up!
