Tales of Yokai is a strategic idle RPG set in an era where humans and spirits coexist. Tales of Yokai is a solid addition to the idle RPG genre, especially if you're a fan of Japanese mythology. The game looks fantastic—the 3D combat effects and character designs for the different Yokai (like Yamata no Orochi and Tamamo) are really impressive for a mobile title. It follows the standard idle loop: you summon characters, set your team, and they fight even when you're not playing, gathering resources for you to upgrade them.

What kept me engaged was the strategic depth in the 'lineup' system. There isn't just one 'best' team; you actually have to adjust your positions and elemental matchups to win against tougher bosses. The 'Awakening' system also adds a nice layer of long-term progression for your favorite units. It can feel a bit 'grindy' once you hit the mid-game wall, but the frequent updates and new Shikigami releases keep the meta fresh. If you like the aesthetic of 'Onmyoji' but want something more casual and automated, this is a great choice.

The game doesn't work anymore. This was an incredible game. I had recently gotten a bunch of giftcards and calculated the amount of money I'd have to spend in order to get to a certain VIP level, only to find out that the purchases weren't working. I contacted support and they said the game is being taken down...? I'm so confused, I loved this game. Now I can't even get past the loading screen when you open the app. What is going on?

Satisfying, with a lot to do.

Tales of Yokai is a Gacha idle rpg with a focus on instant gratification. There are so many systems and implementations that you will find it addicting and hard to put down as you can progress at rather quick rates before things start to slow and the grind becomes more gradual. I’ve played a lot of mobile Gacha games and I’ve only seen about 3-4 like this one. A heavy component in a game like this is knowing how to effectively use your money. While technically free-to-play, games such as Tales of Yokai offer you many many deals and tons of cash shop options. Some people can be quick to label this as pay-to-win, but it isn’t. Its part of the strategy of the game, how to utilize the deals most effectively without spending too much. Honestly, that’s part of the fun. While there isn’t much story or depth to this game, It does involve a lot strategy and if you know what you’re getting into, it’s a good time sink.

It’s ok..

I like gacha games and I don’t worry too much about spending money on a game.. but this game has too much stuff going on. I do have a problem of clearing all the red dots next to things I need to do… so I felt a bit overwhelm when I log on and there’s so much to do! I felt more like it was a chore instead of enjoying the game. Other than that I guess it’s alright. Some ppl may feel more engaging with so much stuff to do, just not for me.

It froze

This game is fun but my current experience with trying to log in and getting stuck on a pop, is why I’m not giving it a higher review . But I hope all the bugs get fixed and this game thrives!

It’s overall not bad the 3d style is something to get used to but lots of free/cheap stuff and a cool feature of doing many battles at once example arena, campaign, bosses, tower all at the same time

Easy game
